I found your essay to be a bit hostile, but interesting nonetheless. Until I read the part about murdering synthetics.

It's true, most of Tali's appeal probably comes from the fact that we don't know what her face looks like. Not knowing something keeps us interested, and once the mystery is solved, the interest can fade quickly.

Still, the attraction doesn't come from the mask alone. Most guys here seem to like Tali so much because she's smart, independent, caring, but still willing to get her hands dirty if necessary. She's actually a strong person. I wouldn't even call her "innocent". Cute, maybe, but not in the usual sense.

Also, she's obsessed about machines and technology, you might even call her a geek. And I mean that positively.

I don't really share your opinion of Tali being a very strong person. Her squad running off in the first mission against her orders being an example of this. Regardless, yes Tali isn't just popular because of her mask. But I can't believe the mainly sexual obsession comes from her personality.

There was a guy on here a while ago asking for a life size tali-doll. Thought he was joking at first, but he wasnt... I mean, to each his own but that is taking it far indeed.

Pretty sure it was a joke. I think the sexual attraction comes from her figure, and the mystery, and I think that mystery should be kept a mystery.

Again, this whole thing is just as juvenile as the obsessed Tali fans, it just has a different ring to it.

People liking Tali, even being obsessed with her, isn't hurting you, your gaming experience, or even your forum experience(for the most part.)

This thread has little purpose.

It will be better if they just dont show her face, i mean maybe a bit through the helmet but not off the helmet, tali personality, voice, etc are good enough for me, no need to show her face, just like bungie did with Master Chief, You got to love somebody mostly for who they are and what they do, not just how they look, what if one day u have a  wife and she has a accident, would u stop loving her just because of that? think about it.

How she looks is incredibly important. If she wouldn't wear such a tight suit and no body features would be recognizable at all, nobody would find her appealing. I've never said her personality played no roll at all, on the contrary. But dont tell me those hips have no effect what so ever.

Yeah, a blind person liking someone for their personality is "weak". While everyone whoopin at Miranda's BEWBS and AZZ aren't disturbing at all. Know why? Cuz they're too busy ****** to her to talk about her. On the other hand you've got quite a bit to talk about Tali.

Yes, there are creepy fanboys out there, but don't lump them together with the general mass of Tali fans. 99% of people can tell fantasy from reality, but because that one guy thinks it's real, suddenly the entire fan-base of that game is suspect. You also can't generally say "Tali fans don't want to see her face". When was that decided? I'd say it's split.

There is the "mysterious" factor, but saying that an IMAGINED face is prettier than Yvonne Strahovski's REAL face, you're just dumb.

But hey, as much as it bothers you that your favorite character isn't liked as much as another character, I'll take it that it's a personal issue, and Bioware's experiment succeeded in dominating your weak mind.

Never said that somebody whooping at Miranda's BEWBS, as you put it, is less disturbing. It is a lot less frequent, atleast as far as I know. Besides it's also a lot less interesting, big boobs are a sure winner, nothing new there. Hell the majority of games/movies feature big boobs at some point. Not a lot of female lead characters without a face though.

Ofcourse your comparison with a blind man just shows you completly missed the point. You can't excite a blind man by telling him he isn't allowed to see something.

I also never said Tali fans didn't want to see her face, I only implied that doing so would leave them hugely dissapointed. There's a big difference between what people think they want and what they actually want. Which ofcourse makes the results of revealing Tali face all the more interesting.

And I don't know Yvonne what's her name, but yes there will be people who don't like her face. I doubt a lot of people will dislike a face they can freely imagine... That would be like making a chicken sandwich, then complaining you don't like chicken when you're eating it.

Wrong. And by the way, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone going into battle wearing a dress or anything equally baggy.

If anyone said a person's body has nothing to do with it, they are a lying liar who lies.

I should also add that throwing in a little "Tali sucks in combat too" is quite revealing. She never leaves my party, hardly ever dies, shoots long range with a shotgun, and dominates the field with Combat Drone and AI Hacking (not to mention Energy Drain). I tried rolling with Jack and Mordin and seriously they keep dying, the only squadmembers I've had that hardly ever die are Grunt, Thane, Tali, and Legion. First 2 playthroughs have been Adept and Vanguard so that might affect it.

I agree...I find Tali one of the most useful squadmembers. Especially when paired with a soldier.

For the record I wasnt the one who claimed Tali was useless in combat. I wasnt to bothered with who was effective or not I usually just took the companions I liked or fitted the mission.

The only two partymembers I disliked were Zaeed and Jack, in which I believe im not that original.

Of course you hear less of Miranda talk, cuz like I said, they're too busy ****** and getting no emotional gain from her romance to talk about her.

And you can't simply "freely imagine" Tali's face. We know they have a bluish tint to their skin, slightly long necks, have glowing eyes, and slightly pointed noses (yes, Tali's nose is one of her main "features"). So to see Tali with a really small nose with the mask off would actually be disappointing to me.

So Bioware can't fail, if they make her beautiful, then ppl will say "I knew it", if she's average with a big nose, all the real fans (the majority of fans of Tali) will rejoice that everything is revealed (almost everything).

That was more of a generalized point not a specific one but if you want to take it that way more power to you, I just find this argument between the two dumb and silly over a video game character, she nothing but pixels on a screen and data on a disk. The fact some one can deeply hate or deeply love her is on the borderline level of pathetic.

Now if you like her as a character got no issues.

The sane people being whom? People without an opinion? You bring that as if it's something to be proud of. Not having an opinion isn't exactly a virtue. Trying to mock people who do however, is definatly not one.

I always liked Tali, never loved her, but just liked her. Her loyalty mission changed that. I felt incredibly attracted to her personality during- and after her loyalty mission. I was planning on romancing Miranda on my first (not canon) play through, but instead I went with Tali. BUT....

I really get annoyed by the hardcore Tali fan-base, or any other hardcore romantic interest fan-base for that matter. There is nothing wrong with being a Tali fan, but most of the Tali 'fans' here are not just a fan of her, they're completely obsessed with her...

The writers and artists at Bioware have shown their insights into the human/male psyche and created the most disturbing obsession currently known to mankind. The Tali-cult. I can only applaud them for their ruthless abuse of the weakminded.

Consider this, how does one make a pixel-woman loved and covetted by as many people possible? Creating a sexy body is easy to start with, the appreciation of certain features is instinctively present in all of us. Then suit her up in a tight suit to display and enhance these features for maximum effect, all pretty straightforward.

Now the hard part, her face. Faces are the most important means for humans to recognize each other. Our brains automaticly define many different facial attributes. With that many variables what is attractive to one person can be a turn off for the next. The solution: don't reveal it. People will naturally assume she is pretty because they WANT her to be. The mind makes her perfect because there is a lack of conflicting data.

Now to further people's interest, give her an alien and a slightly different or semi-familiar culture. The good old mysterious stranger trick. Let her speak your tongue flawlessly but with a defining accent. She is now familiar enough to be comfortable with but different enough to spark your curiousity, very clever.

Her personality needs to be mellow, so not to offend or annoy people. Strong enough to not make her a doormat. In short, make her average, predictable even. Add a bit of innonence to her personality and make her depend on and trust the main character..

A women with a hot body, a face of your choosing, foreign but no linguistic trouble and a personality that prevents nagging; an illusion of the perfect woman?

Your experiment succeeded, you can dominate the weak by portraying an unachievable but wonderfull reality. Now it's time to kill the monster you created Bioware! Reveal her face in Mass Effect 3, let the cries of anquish and discontent fill these forums. Release the ignorant from the cruel hold of their own fantasy. A fantasy you helped create and only you can destroy!

I beg of you, return to us these forums. No more "I want Tali's babies", "Tali-romance DLC please" or "I will love Tali forever" threads. This soap HAS to end, so we can all get back to murdering synthetics in peace and quiet.

Your post is full of so much epic win.

This can be resolved easely. If you don't like Tali then don't romance her and leave her alone. I don't see the point in making a thread about it. Let us Tali-lovers get our love. We're not complaining about Miranda or Jack lovers, so why you complaining about us?
