Since the characters are very similar in terms of race and squadmate relations and positioning, which of these is better overall.

Kaidan over Jacob for sure. Liara too. Grunt and Wrex are pretty cool. I don't really like either Ashley or Miranda.

I liked Miranda far more than Ashley. Ash rubbed me the wrong way, what with her xenophilia and all. Plus, her attitude in ME2 didn't help her case. I definitely pick Miranda.



As for Jacob or Kaiden: To be honest, I really didn't like either. When I first saw Jacob, I thought, "Cool, this is the main good guy of another video game, so he'll be bad ass." Turns out I was wrong. He's just annoying and bland. Don't care for either.



I definitely pick Samara over Liara. Liara annoyed me. Samara is bad ass and by far one of my favorite chars in ME2. Super cool character.



The toughest choice is Wrex or Grunt. Both are very cool. I'd have to give it to Wrex because I liked his overall story better (and loved him in ME2), but Grunt looks cooler.

miranda over ash. but it was close. wrex is legend. kaidan but close again tbo they were both eh.

samara is one of my favorite with legion.

and anyone over tali. never once used her in me1 or 2 cept for her mission.

I think you mean "xenophobia" with Ash... unless she had the hots for Garrus and I never noticed?

Anyway, I must say that I like neither Ash or Miranda. Ash, while a tough woman who's brave and wilfull, was just a little boring to me and just a teeny bit biggoted at times. Miranda was boring too... just a bunch of curves in a catsuit who went around talking about how perfect she was all the time.

Jacob was a lot better than Kaidan for me. I got a real sense of brotherhood with Jacob and he came across as more "real" than Kaidan, although I really liked Kaidan too.

Samara and Liara both bored me to tears; I hate their characters... maybe it's their monotone-ish voices, maybe it's that most Asari are incredibly predictable, I don't know.

Grunt looks awesome, it's true, but Wrex's war stories were great and I loved how he had the long sight that so many of his people seem to lack. If you talk to the Krogans and really listen to them, a lot of them are very intelligent... at least moreso than the rest of the galaxy credits them.

I think I like Ashley as a character more then Miranda if you romanced her and convinced her not to be a bigoted ass. However, Miranda wins "dat ass" award every time.

Tough choice on some of them...

Miranda over Ashley, purely because of the loyalty missions and extra conversation that ME2 has. If she were presented the same way, they'd be even.

Wrex over Grunt. Grunt's the most badass Krogan I've ever seen, but Wrex's experience makes him a deeper character. Grunt's basically just been born, and he's not sure about everything around him, whereas Wrex has had hundreds of years to hone his wit, and develop a backstory.

Wrex:"Anyone who fights us is either stupid or on Saren's payroll. Killing the latter is business. Killing the former is a favor to the universe." Priceless.

Jacob seemed really cool at the beginning, but I think that there isn't enough dialogue with him (he's not developed enough). If you're a Paragon, then he could've been a character you'd relate to really well, seeing how he understands that Cerberus can be downright evil, and he's the "good guy" in Galaxy. The way in which he kills/arrests his father without a second thought after seeing what he's done also shows that Jacob's got some strong morals. Kaidan also seemed like an interesting, fairly deep character, but he just went on about headaches and aliens. The one really cool bit of dialogue with him was discussing his biotic training. So neither, really. They both could've been deep characters, but not enough development. Possibly Jacob because of his loyalty quest.

Samara/Liara? I personally don't like the Justicar code all that; it's hard enough to justify killing people without pointing at a codex entry and saying "it told me to!", but I think Liara in ME1 threw herself at Shepard a bit, whereas Samara sort-of expresses an interest but refuses. Overall, Samara's a more interesting character to me (again, as with most ME2 squaddies, more backstory, more personality), and she gets props for being the one Asari squad member who won't sleep with you.

I choose Ash over Miranda. I don't really like her attitude towards aliens, but Miranda works for a far worse club. On a personal level i like Ash much more.

Wrex is the far better character than Grunt, because he has character. Grunt is just "I want to fight, i want to kill, I AM KROGAN!". Boring.

Kaidan and Jacob both are good guys. But Kaidan just has more spine, sticking with the Alliance instead of joining Cerberus because he is unsatisfied with their politics.

I loved Liara in ME 1, my (a little bit) naive, innocent archeologist. Samara is a cool character too, very tragic story with her.

I liked both Wrex and Grunt. You can't really compare these two.



Jacob seems more brotherly than Kaiden.



Ashley is the female 'Jacob'. Miranda just seems a bit too professional and no-nonsense for my liking. Love Yvonne though.



Never liked Liara. Thought she was dull and poorly made. Her looks ain't that great either. There's several asari around that looks better than her (Samara, Morinth and Aria to name a few). I can't stop staring at Samara's upper torso whenever I talk to her >< The asari in general aren't very interesting... except perhaps Aria.

Wrex before grunt any day , Grunt is a little Whelp whereas Wrex is a real gnarly , been there , killed that and got the head for a trophy kind of character.

Miranda without a doubt , the only reason that Ashley is still alive in my game is because the other choice was to keep Kaiden , no great loss there.

Jacob and Kaiden is a tie , i never really liked either of them , they were too generic.

Liara , i was disappointed that she never had a bigger part to play , i hope they bring her back in part 3 ,if only to see what happens if you have 2 LI's in your squad at the same time , might make you wish you'd stayed faithful

Ashley, take her anyday, the hate for her is a little OTT sometimes, great well developed character if you get to know her.

ashley was one of the best characters (and in ME2 she's gone badly and without good reasons), if you dislike what she thinks, or even if you don't like her doesn't means that the character wasn't well developed and interesting. Miranda is pretty interesting too. Jacob and Kaidan are pretty bidimensional. Samara better than liara, Wrex better than grunt.

Wrex > Grunt (Wrex is probably the only ME1 character I feel was better than their ME2 counterpart. But that's mostly because Grunt had the same personality as Wrex and the only thing he brought to the table was that he's a test tube grown teenager)

Samara > Liara
