Miranda>Asheley: Ash I like better on a personal level, but Miranda had a more fleshed out character.
Wrex>Grunt: I chose Wrex because he goes the "work smarter, not harder" route. Where as Grunt could have gone more Wrex like but they instead decided to make him Uber Krogan with normal "More fighting less talking" attitude.
Jacob>Kaiden: If I hear one more person say Jacob's boring and does not have enough back story... I'm going to request Bioware make hard copies of Mass Effect: Galaxies, but several hundred copies and start throwing them at haters like throwing stars. HE'S GOT HIS OWN DAMN GAME FOR GOSH SAKES! They did not have to do as much character development for him since they already gave him (and Miranda) a game. The whole point to him was as a kind of tease to get you to go check out galaxies and learn more about him.... and Kaiden was kinda boring., way to much of a Mickey from Doctor Who.
Liara>Samara: The only reason Liara wins this one is the interesting place they are taking her character.... I'm going to have to wait until more DLC or Mass 3 comes out before I can make a judment on this one. But Samara is very instersting, and its nice to actually have a 'mature' women for the main character to be attracted to.. Tired of teenage bad girls and overripe fanatics in their twenties (yeah Im looking at you Lielana and Morrigan).

Miranda, i just like her better than ash for some reason
Jacob, kaiden felt a little to forced into the female LI role and was boring besides that.
Samara, Samara is a badass and can actually fight, liara was boring and im sorry but i hate the way she is voiced and her dialogue is just awkward but not in a cute way.

Jacob: better voice actor and stronger personality, though unfortunately he wasn't given as much to do as the other ME2 characters.
Wrex: He and Grunt have very different characters, but Wrex wins for me because of the genuine sorrow I felt talking to him in the first game: forced to watch his species destroy itself, knowing how to stop it but being unable to do it. An interesting comparison to humanity itself, perhaps.
Liara: I generally don't like the straight good guy, but I've got a soft spot for the Liara's shy teenager thing from ME1, though she disappointed terribly in the second. But I found Samara uninteresting, so I'll give my vote to Liara. Morinth was a better character than either, though, but she wasn't given anywhere near enough screen time to compare with the other two.

I'm surprised at all the Samara love.
She was lawful stupid paladin, end of characterization. Done.
I hate lawful stupid, and, as I said, I'm amazed so many people liked her.
Also her complexion was horrible with all the random spots and stuff, I don't even get how she was attractive other than the ****ty uniform that doesn't even make sense for her completely frigid character.
Sounds like someoe has mommy issues.... Didn't get hugged enough?
LOL. She's a cougar dude. I thought her textures looked very refined. Her artist IMO did an excellent job of making her look older, but still quite attractive, especially in the face. As to her characterization, if you went through her loyalty quest and didn't make some sort of emotional connection in your case hate, the failure is yours.

...Wow, really? I cringed every time he spoke. Out of both games, and every line of dialogue, he was by far the worst voice actor as far as I was concerned.

Ashly is way too goodyshoes for me, I'll stick with Miranda, she's better looking too xP
What goes for Grunt and Wrex, it's really a hard choice. But in the end I think I would take Grunt, since I like wrex position in Tutchanka.
I would definetly pick Samara over Liara, she's just so awesome a biotic - and she's very prettier xP

He was bad. I don't know if he was the worst, because I don't really pay attention. I LOL'd when he said that Miranda "requires a better man than I." Of course, it was also a silly line.

Miranda > Ashley. I'm not too fond of rednecks.
Liara > Samara/Morinth. Samara is a zealot, while Morinth is an abomination. Both are extremes of their "alignment" and i don't like extremes. Plus Liara is younger and prettier.
Wrex > Grunt. Toughest choice, i like both of them a lot. Grunt is a lot of fun, but Wrex wins anyways, he's too charismatic. Probably Wrex is my favourite character in ME universe.

I much prefer Miranda to Ashley. I really didn't like Ashley's character and let her get killed in ME1
I'm in love with Kaidan. I like Jacob, and he's a good man, but I found him awkward to talk to.
I like Liara in ME1 more than I like Samara, but like Samara more than ME2 Liara. No experience with Morinth as a squad member.

Jacob, I think, is superior to Kaiden. Not by much. I didn't really care for either...but Kaiden sounds like Carth and that ruins it for me.
Samara blows Liara out of the water. But Morinth falls behind Liara. Samara > Liara > Morinth.
Wrex over Grunt. Grunt's a great concept and I look forward to seeing him in ME3, but Wrex had that veteran warrior thing going for him and that's always awesome. (Canderous and Wrex sharin' a beer. Definitely.)

Freud would say that finding extremely older women attractive is more congruent with mommy issues. Ever heard of an Oedipus Complex?Toastysoul wrote...

But, I'd rather not spend my time insulting someone personally just because they have different tastes in a fictional character.
No.LOL. She's a cougar dude.
A cougar is a woman whom pursues younger men.
She's frigid and completely shoots Shepard down. She's about as far from being a cougar as an 'attractive' older woman can be.
If you find her attractive, she's a MILF, not a Cougar.
I wasn't a fan of her extremely manish jawline. I don't even make male character's with jaws that manly. Also, her and Morinth are identical other than their clothing, and Morinth is supposedly still in her 'Maiden' stage, while Samara is in her 'Matron' stage, so not so sure about that 'making her look older' thing. I, also, honestly had a hard time buying the Morinth seduction due to the splotchiness of her complexion. It made me think of a teen girl with a bad case of acne coming onto me, but blue toned.I thought her textures looked very refined. Her artist IMO did an excellent job of making her look older, but still quite attractive, especially in the face.
Further, I find it ironic that the frigid Justicar 'no room for love in my lonely life' character has the ridiculously low cut cleavage outfit, while the succubi is wearing the equivalent of a space turtleneck. Her clothing/sexualization doesn't fit her character in the least, which is part of what bothers me. A reversal of outfits would have been more fitting.
Obviously I'm in a minority here, though, so whatever.
Before Loyalty quest: "I will kill anyone that gets between me and justice for justice. As to her characterization, if you went through her loyalty quest and didn't make some sort of emotional connection in your case hate, the failure is yours.
During Loyalty quest: "I will especially kill -Spoiler- for justice" "Damn that's harsh" "Murderin' evil is all I got."
After Loyalty quest: "I will still kill anyone that gets between me and justice."
She's the classic lawful stupid paladin. She marches in and kills things. Adding -ANGST- doesn't make it better. It didn't make Carth better, it didn't make Morrigan better (though I actually kind of liked Morrigan), it didn't make Jack better (made her worse, in my opinion). Angst is not equal to character complexity. It can help an audience connect emotionally with a character, but it doesn't make the basic characterization any more complex.
Samara was still Lawful Stupid Paladin before, during, and after her mission.

Ashley vs. Miranda, Win = Miranda, in both option
Wrex vs. Grunt, Most difficult, But I think Wrex in both, more experience, and grunt feels more like a faithfull dog then a friend. With Wrex there is mutual respect.
Kaidan vs. Jacob, Kaiden is just more powerfull. But I like Jacob more in personality department.
Liara vs. Samara/Morinth, I like Liara better, But Samara would hand her her ass

Miranda >>>>>>> Ashley
Wrex > Grunt (close call)
Samara >>> Liara (found Samara a much more interesting character. Plus I hate what they did to Liara in ME2)
Jacob > Kaiden - they are both bland and rather boring for me. But Kaiden's already dead hehehe.

Miranda >> Ashley
Not that I didn't like Ash as a character, but Miranda is so much more interesting. And she looks better. And has a better voice. And no religion. My maleShep will take Ash's love of Tennyson's 'Ulysses' into any future relationships, though.
Kaiden > Jacob
Kaidan had a lot of potential left unrealized, and his personality didn't suit my femSheps much. But Jacob is simply boring. I'd take Kaidan any time.
Wrex > Grunt
As much as I dislike the Wrex hype, he's more interesting than Grunt. But as far as I'm concerned, the team could easily stay without a krogan member. I don't like the concept of the species.
Liara ~ Samara > Morinth
The way Liara has developed, I couldn't care less. I would've said the team needs a member like Liara as she was in ME1, A counterweight to all those hard-as-nails personalities. Morinth is out of the question, though. I won't have a murder addict on my ship.
