Hard to Judge, since I liked the old quademates much, but the new ones also have something special (some of them at least).

Ashley vs. Miranda - Miranda (in terms of skill+charhistory)

Wrex vs. Grunt - Wrex (overall)

Kaidan vs. Jacob - Kaidan (overall)

Liara vs. Morinth - Liara (overall)

Liara vs. Samara - Samara (combat; they have nothing else in common that can be judged in a versus)

Wrex > Grunt - though I do like them both. Wrex is just one of my favorite characters in a game ever

Kaiden = Jacob - I didn't give a crap about either of them

Samara > Liara - Samara is just one badass lady imo. Cold, powerful, and confident. Liara was so, how to put it.... MAGOOO.

Miranda > Ashley - I dont like Ashley, can't put my finger on it but maybe cause she's fugly. Miranda has the best ass ever neways soooooo

Ashley vs. Miranda
Very difficult for me to decide, since I like both characters very much. Hell, I romanced them both; let's see what kind of nuclear reaction that causes in ME3. 8D

For all the people touting Ashley's slight xenophobia as a reason to like Miranda over her, have you SEEN the organization that Miranda has devoted her LIFE to?!

That said: Tie.

Wrex vs. Grunt
I thought Grunt was kind of bland and one-dimensional, but that's also why I thought he was somewhat intriguing. However, Wrex is a terribly hard personality to surmount. He has a perfect blend of unapologetic, hard-edged mercenary and tortured, resigned veteran with a generous overtone of sarcastic wit. Seriously, I cracked up when his only response to that other Krogan's rant on Tuchanka was, "... Idiot." It was all about the delivery. He is a warrior, a philosopher, and now a king. It will take at least another game, if that, to endear Grunt that much to me.

Verdict: Wrex

Kaidan vs. Jacob
Hoo boy. What I didn't like about Jacob is it felt like my She-pard was being forced on him every conversation we had. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT HIM, NOT HIT ON HIM. And Jennifer Hale, oh how she doesn't make it debatable what's going on with that husky ring in her voice. At least Jacob was more interesting (and useful) than that wanker, Kaidan, who spent most of his time tending that vidscreen in the Normandy while the actual useful members of my crew helped me hunt down Saren.

I'm currently trying to give Mr. Alenko a second chance during my new playthrough, but... eh. He certainly isn't showing why he earned those special commendations that Dr. Chakwas alluded to.

Verdict: Jacob

Samara vs. Liara
When I ran into her, I knew right away that Samara was going to be a space paladin. No matter what you said to her, you couldn't convince her to change her stance on anything. This, I found, was fascinating, especially in that universe of gray areas and moral ambiguity. One would think that death = solution would be a bit amoral itself, but you have to understand the Asari perspective; it makes a lot more sense then, their primary religion being a bit like Taoism with its universal oneness philosophy. That kind of adamant adherence to one's principles is beyond admirable. A bit unreasonable to our "have cake and eat it, too," minds, but do YOU see anyone f'cking with Samara?

Liara, on the other hand, was the sweet, naive and socially inept nerd who had a badass sleeping inside her all along. It just needed to be called out of hibernation. That said, she's still not much of a badass. Her ruthlessness did surprise me, a bit, even though certain revelations actually gave me pause. That spoke to her character, I think, which also makes this decision really hard. I liked Liara, though, because she was the sort who just needed a hug.

And for those complaining about Samara's clothing style as being unfitting? Perhaps she's discovered, in the course of several hundred years, that would be assailants would prefer to pay attention to her bountiful assets rather than the gun she's pointing at their head?

As for Morinth: "everything reminds me of the darkness in my soul."

I'm pretty sure it's BioWare's thinly veiled FU to goth, emo, and scene kids.

Verdict: Samara

I would keep Liara, Samara/Morinth, Grunt and Wrex. But would I would have prefered a female krogan just for that "bad ass" krogan attitude but female ;)

EDIT: Would have been cool with 1 male and 1 female krogan in your team. Would make up for some intresting conversations I think ;)

Jacob and Kaidan got on my nerve, same with Ashley. For some reason the human teammates are the less colourful and the most boring.

Miranda > Ashley - I actively *disliked* Miranda while Ashley was *meh*. This makes Miranda a better character.

Wrex > Grunt - Wrex grew a brain over the centuries. In this, he was the greatest krogan you ever meet in game.

Samara > Liara - Liara was the best romance in ME1 but that's not saying very much. Samara had ZERO angst. The life she wanted is long gone and she has moved on. That's the best thing about her. At the beginning, you feel like she will kill you at the drop of a hat. As a full paragon, it feels like she is THE most loyal party member you'll ever have.

Kaiden < Jacob - Kaiden was a pitty party while Jacob wants to make a difference. They were both lose to the other characters in the games by being normal and getting left out of the party at the end of the game.

Kaiden < Jack - Jack had it worse, was more powerful, and had a bigger chip on her shoulder. You also got to see what makes her tick.

Garrus1 < Garrus2 - Garrus grew as a character from one game to the next (and added a level of coolness).

Ashley>Miranda - Miranda just comes out as a badly written character to me. At least Ahsley has some personality, even though I don't like it.

Wrex>Grunt

Jacob> Kaiden ( at least Jacob has the balls to do whatever it takes )

Samra>Liara ( though I don't think you can compare them, Samara has lived for centuries while Liara has only been around for 100 years )

Well for me it's

Miranda > Ashley - Ash is definately worse with her racism, poetry and ugly squint eye. Plus Miranda is hot.

Kaiden > Jacob - I find Jacob pretty one-dimensional, Kaiden is OK although he always took one for the team in my ME1 playthroughs.

Wrex > Grunt - Wrex is one of my favourite characters, Grunt is kinda meh.

Liara = Samara - A difficult one to call this, so I won't :P

Samara - not being an annoying loli FTW. Her voice actor and demeanor alone are boner worthy. Also, the eyes.

Kaidan
- when Jacob was like "THIS IS GETTING INTENSE" at the beginning of the game I wanted to murder him. If this is getting so intense, why don't you stfu and let me play this game and get your stupid big face away from me.

Wrex
- only character in the story good at not being a pickle smoocher. MAH BOI.

Miranda
- stfu Ashley, stop bothering me with poems and Jesus, I don't care about you. You're so unappealing that I actually mashed that retarded loli over you. GOD. Just let me romance Wrex already.

Wrex > Grunt

Wrex is interesting and memorable. Grunt is okay but he's too much like a robot playing a Krogan than an actual Krogan character.

Kaidan > Jacob.

Any similarities Kaidan has to Carth (which are exagerrated anyway) are okay with me cause hell, I liked Carth. Kaidan is both smart and sexy. Jacob is just bland. So bland he threatens to cover his section of the Normandy in beige.

Ashley > Miranda

I've always been meh on Ashley, she's an okay character and all I guess. But she's still better than Miranda "Look at the melons that make up my rear end! Look at them!" Lawson.

Liara > Samara

Liara could be a little dull at times but she was solid overall. Samara.. I don't know.. she tries to hard. Problem is I'm not sure what she's trying.

Wrex is way better than Grunt.

Kaiden is better than Jacob because Kaiden has a storline (and he is Carth Onasi!)

Ashley is better than Miranda, cuz, well, Miranda sucks.

Liara is better, and cuter in ME1.

Garrus 1 is better.

Okay you know what? Forget it... ME1 is just plain better than ME2.

I agree with this guy.  Wonder if we should also have Tali vs. Tali?  She seemed more the same between the two games to me, but I didn't exhaust her dialogue/ romance.

Ashely vs. Miranda - Miranda - Miranda is much more versatile and has more experience and skills than ashley

Wrex vs. Grunt - Wrex - With the physical power and durability of a krogan, his biotics and his experience, Wrex is the obvious choice for me.

Kaidan vs Jacob - Kaidan - With much better biotic skills, better leadersip and tactical abilities, along with his tech skills giving him a versatile edge, Kaidan is an obvious choice.

Liara vs Samara - Samara - With her hundreds of years of experience and matriarch power level even though she is in the matron stage, along with her combat skills and her assult rifle training, Samara is just a better choice.

Liara vs Morinth - Liara - Liara seems more versatile to me and closer to morinth in skill level. Also Morinth is a sociopath and cannot be trusted.

Those are mine :)

I will only make comparison of them fighting 1vs1.

Ashley vs Miranda - I think that no doubt Miranda would win here. She is overall capable of much more than Ash. Though i wouldnt say its a 100% sure win. Ash is a great soldier after all, but on this one i prefer Miranda.

Wrex vs Grunt - This would be one very interesting fight. Wrex has much more experience and is a bit bigger than Grunt. Grunt on the other hand is the perfect Krogan. I guess Wrex has the upper hand for now but still i think it would be a draw.

Kaidan vs Jacob - I would say Kaidan will win this one. He is in my opinion a much more powerful biotic and between those 2 this would be the most important aspect of the fight.

Samara/Morinth vs Liara - I see a lot of people here stating that Samara has been killing and using biotics for 600-700 years more than Liara, but i dont think thats relevant. Also ive always had this feeling while playing trough Mass Effect 1, 2 and reading the comic books, that Liara isnt just any trained biotic user. I get the feeling that she is much more than that. Probably a freak of nature in that aspect. She is barely over 100 and she already is a monstrously powerful biotic. In my opinion she is one of the most powerful biotic users(if not the most powerful) in the Mass Effect universe. And i think she will play a bigger role in ME3 because the galaxy will definately need her power. So i think she will surely win over Samara or Morinth.

original crew everytime except in the case of Samara/Morinth vs Liara (it hurts to say this)

I mean unless Liara is like...a prodigy or something I feel like she should be outmatched by an Asari that's like...around 8 times her age? (What's Liara like 150 as opposed to Samara's 1000+ ?)

I would certainly root for Liara in that fight but I think she'd definitely be the underdog in that fight

------------------

In terms of who I like more: original crew all the way. (not that I dislike any of the latest people)

Ashley vs. Miranda
Winner: Ashley
I really had a hard time deciding. I like them both. This is probably the closest one out for the 4 matchups.

Wrex vs. Grunt
Winner: Wrex
Wrex by far, Grunt is basically programmed to be who he is, Wrex actually has an interesting past and personality.

Kaidan vs. Jacob
Winner: Kaidan
Jacob seems so generic.

Liara vs. Samara
Winner: Samara
I loved Liara in ME1, but she really has faded for me, and I liked Samara right off the start in ME2.

Kaiden =Jacob Both were boring and bland to me..but I liked Kaiden until he shut me down in ME1 when I talked about love interests...

Grunt>Wrex- Grunt was blue and cool...wrex was brown and an ****..so I was glad when ash shot Wrex

Samara> Liara- Liara was cute but came across as a ditz to me..and Samara has ( o Y O )

Ashley vs. Miranda:
Miranda wins. Ashley to me holds her self like a man. I dont find anything about her redeeming.

Wrex vs. Grunt:
Wrex because he is an established bad ass. I like Grunt but he is to much of a baby Huey on steroids for me

Kaidan vs. Jacob:
Tie, Kaiden always dies in my version of ME1 and I never use Jacob

Liara vs. Samara/Morinth:
Samara, same reason as wrex, she is an established bad ass. Liara I just saw as blue wall paper.

In General I like the ME2 crew much better, and the ME1 Crew who I did like became crew in ME2 with the exception of Wrex

Definitely Miranda over Ashely.

I liked Wrex sooo much more than Grunt, in large part due to his cameo in ME2.

Jacob over Kaidan, because in ME1, I couldn't even stand to talk to Kaidan, but I had no problem with Jacob.

Morinth over both Samara and Liara because... heck, she's awesome.

Hm...Ashley over Miranda because I felt ridiculously horrible when I killed her off in ME1, yet she was so chill about it, which made it kind of worse for me. She did get annoying with her xenophobia, though. Miranda, on the other hand...well, I admire her protective quality with her sister, but...eh...she's just alright.

Wrex v. Grunt...eh this one's difficult. I like Wrex's sagacious demeanor, but Grunt is such a lil cutie, like a puppy. I really can't choose between the two.

I choose Kaiden over Jacob because...well, Jacob looks funny, so does Kaiden with his hair, but Jacob's waist is just...erm...Okay, so this is a bit shallow. Kaiden's strong sense of morality was very inspiring, more inspiring than Jacob's, at least. Idk what else...

Liara was/is too nubile. With her role in ME2, she lost points. I'd choose Samara over Liara. I admire her ability to still be proud of her daughter and take that sort of thing in perspective after having recently slain her.
