It has to be Liara, without her determination Shep wouldn't be alive. All the other squadmates are specialists but then again theres a whole galaxy of soldiers, biotics and scientists, your current team in ME2 were lets face it a ragtag crew that were replaceable.

Then after you get killed by collectors TIM could have filled you in.

I don't know...

200,000 C-Sec officers couldn't stop Saren's first attack.

Yeah but they're C-Sec officers, they're like the stormtroopers of the Mass Effect universe: Everyone talks about how awesome they are, but whenever you actually see them they're failing to properly do their job. I think the only two C-Sec officers you don't see screw up in action are Garrus and Chellick (because he technically does his job properly, with Shepard's help of course).

On Topic: Altough I don't really care for her, I have to agree that Liara wins the top spot for most contributing teammate. Between making the beacon useful for more then giving Shepard nightmares and making sure Shepard's body made it to TIM she's pretty much carried everyone's Shepard through several points of their respective campaigns.

Garrus and Tali are still the best though. Everybody else on the old team feels the need to tell you that you're a moron for working with Cerberus. Tali and Garrus give you a one line complaint and follow it up with a "but you know what you're doing, so I've got your back".

Ahem, back on topic

The Tali fans have a point, despite my not wanting to listen.  It's not that I dislike any kind of fan, it's just that certain features or aspect of favorite characters can imbalance our opinions.  But you guys are right, Tali hunting down that geth brought crucial evidence, and revealed the Reapers.  Very important.

Why?

he saves shep from being killed by husks on the dead reaper?

Adding to the fact that he is the only one (besides arguably Tali) that has the potential of having a massive military force back you up in ME3 with proper diplomacy. Through him we learn more about the Geth than anyone outside the Perseus Veil has thought since their creation. We learn of their culture (or lack theirof), their government (a form of democracy that is impossible for organic species), and most importantly the fact that the majority of the Geth have never been in conflict with organics since the original war with the Quarians.

We learn from EDI if Legion is allowed to uplink to the Geth network that they are arguably the most intelligent force in the galaxy aside from the Reapers themselves. And through Legion we learn that they respect Shepard's opinion and are willing to follow his guidance in the battle against them. With their help the old machines may indeed fall.

The only logical choice is Mordin 'cos you can't do any upgrades without him and you can't protect yourself from the seeker swarms

Saying that your LI is needed to save the galaxy is stupid 'cos you're only thinking with your other head

From NPCs, it's Joker

Heh, but the quarian would be dead, like I said, if not for the true unsung heroine of the Mass Effect trilogy:

Doctor Chloe Michel

...and Garrus by proxy, since it was him we were seeking that led us to the divine doctor.

Hey, If I listed my fourth Shepard, she belongs to Garrus, he's fourth on ,y list as an incredibly loyal companion who would fight with Shepard to the bitter end, romance or no. And his initial helo is also very key.

So yes, I'll give you that one, but Liara still tops them all in my book.

So... what?

Do you deny that the dead quarian would have died if we hadn't received her location from the great heroine, Doctor Michel, just in time? Without Doctor Michel giving us the info, Shepard could not have stopped Saren.

What was it that sent you into nerd rage about that simple fact?

Geez...

Funny but not entirely true. Remember there were Two paths to her Rescue. Shadowbroker>Wrex and Harkin>Garrus.

Nerd rage? I wrote two sentences. You're writing whole paragraphs and posting your silly character hate in every post of every thread you step foot in, silly. :)

A-ha... That is true. The lead to Fist can be acquired from Wrex also. I stand corrected. Step down, Dr. Michel. Image IPB

The ranking stands then at:

1) Liara
2) Miranda/Mordin
3) Tali

various other people

I doubt Mordin is the greatest scientist in the galaxy. He helped engineer the genophage but then again Saren's science team were able to neutralise it.

Calling me immature and stomping my feet for calling Tali a dead quarian? I'd call that nerd rage from a typical Talimancer.

And character hate?

I saw your first reply on this thread to the OP, where you had to insert your own opinion about not liking Liara. Is that simple opinion perhaps "character hate" on the same epic level as is calling Tali a dead quarian? I think it just might be.

No, it's not, because i don't stomp my feet trying to spread my opinion that the character should be killed off out of "fairness". Nor am I calling people who romance Liara "freaky" in any way. That's just plain childish.

And you will likely call anything whatever you want because you make it rather clear your opinion and what you like is all that matters. That is what I would call "immature and stomping your feet".

Anyway, my point is made, both in regards to your silly spiteful attitude, and about Liara being the most integral side-character.
