The female scientists starts the conversation with:

"...Thank the MAKER!"

I thought the maker was a god in Dragon age universe, correct?

All i know is Mass effect was finished 2007 and Dragon age in 2009

So why does a Scientist on Eden prime refer to a god from a fantasy world? ... coincidence? i think NOT! :o

Brought up before in a thread before ME2 was released.

And I think the official response then was that it WAS a coincidence.

it was probably a generic term for god they used so as not to offend anyone.

this^^^. I've seen lots of stuff that uses the term 'Maker' in place of god.

Maker be praised, thank the maker, time to meet your maker, etc.

Maker is a rather generic term, at least where I'm from, referring to any kind of Creator deity.

It's gotta be a Star Wars reference/inside joke.

"Thank the maker! This oil bath is going to feel so good!" -C3PO, Episode IV

I was just going to point that one out having just watched it recently.  Though it kinda makes sense for a robot to say that I guess because it was physically created by some one.

Well, DA:O did take five years to make… It was announced at E3 2004.

But I still lean towards the coincidence theory.

Could also be a Babylon 5 reference too. The Centauri call their god "Great Maker".

There are heaps of homages/lines in both games that refer to SW, ST, other sci fi etc.
