I actually deleted my first character even though I finished the game with her. I did this partly because I wasn't happy with the way she looked, but mostly because she was my test/trainer character. I put the game on easy and pushed my way through so I could learn the game mechanics and get through the story line. My current avatar is a "reincarnation" of that character played on hard mode with most of the side quests completed. Oddly enough, this is NOT my favorite character. She is s two handed warrior and I found that I really prefer the dual sword warrior (my third play through). So, I consider the third one my "main".

I plan to reroll my dalish elf, who missed a lot of items and quests, at least until I finish the rest of my city elf and dwarf commoner.

I did, but not out of RP. I made an Arcane Warrior first off, but watching Alistair got Shield Bash envy, so just made a sword n shield warrior version. :B

Shield bashing is SOOOO much fun!  I have a blast playing with my sword and shield HNF!  :D

Yup, did it with my HNF warrior and my city elf rogue. I missed so much with them the first time round that I felt I needed to do them some justice :)

I do it in every game.

I've restarted characters after getting about halfway through the campaign, I've restarted after getting past Lothering, past Ostagar, past the origin, etc etc so many times that I've only finished one complete playthrough. And I restarted that character but will restart her once again for a full playthrough before Awakening comes out because her story is by far my favorite (and I've appreciated things more by replaying it)...

Darn it I have so many characters I like- if only I could finish them. >.<

Me too! She's easily my favorite. I'm trying to resist the urge to roll another sword and shield warrior >.>;

I don't have to reroll for wrong choices in build - I just respec for that. When I've made really bad rp choices, I generally reload to an earlier save. Unless I don't realise it until much later. But appearance, yes, you get out into the game, and it becomes clear something is 'wrong' with the appearance. Stupid dark hole of a place where we create them, can't move them around, or really see what they look like. Something like how Oblivion handles it, or something like Fallout 3 or Guild Wars where you can simply go to a barber/makeover artist/facial reconstructionist and alter your looks ingame.

Whenever I find one of those things and say, no, it's just not right, I tend to delete the character altogether. And start a new one. I currently have 12 characters, but I've probably created upwards of 30 or so.

My first human noble was a trainwreck, the second one was okay even though I can't remember what I did with him and my third was another trainwreck I rushed through just to become king. I need to replay that one over the weekend to get the choices I want.

Gosh, I've forgotten how much I really enjoyed the Dalish origin. Glad I went and rerolled her - thanks for giving me that last impetus to do so!!

I am fighting the temptation (and will likely lose) to re-roll my first character, my Dalish elf, and replay her story because I feel I RPed it so badly, and missed so many things, since she was my first time through.  There were lots of decisions I felt I did out of character, simply because I wanted to try things in the game.  And with Awakening coming up, where those decisions might affect game play (and heck, just because her story will continue) I want to do her story and her character justice.

So, confess.  How many of you have rerolled characters, especially first characters, to do things "right"?  Make me feel better for being OCD about this!  :P

I rerolled twice my first character Lythis much because of her face that I didn't liked.
I rerolled a whole new character, Laurinacle after finishing Lythis story whcich really made me angry because of her romance with Alistair since how the hell I should've know that you can harden him ? >_> I won't talk about the stupid ritual, couldn't bring myself to make her ask Alsitair, so Lythis died on archedemon by keeping her pure love for Alistair.

Now with Laurinacle, I will avoid that damn ritual by letting Loghain die on archedemon so she won't have to ask Alistair to sleep with Morrigan. Yes, by doing this she will loose Alistair forever, but it's okay she will be alright with Zevran. All matter for Laurinacle is her and Alistair safety with the kingdom

Nothing wrong with re-doing something you don't like :)

I loved my first character and my first play-through. I'm an incredibly slow player, and I have the habit of going everywhere and doing everything. I also save lots of times, so I usually had a save to go back to when she really messed up. She'll stay where she is right now, her story is complete.

My second play-through was my HNF rogue (see avatar) but she is currently on ice, because I let myself be talked into a HNF warrior, and I really like this warrior PC the best. She is a DW warrior, looks absolutely smashing, and is all around awesome. She just got done, and is also finished.

If the romances can't carry over(and I highly doubt they can/will), my 'Awakening PC' will be a Orlesian Warden. Or I'll run through doing no romance, and then carry her over.

I'm probably going to end up doing this with my HNM warrior, since I now dislike his appearance (which is why I'm using Duncan as an avatar atm) and I stopped doing sidequests about halfway through. Honestly, I think everybody ends up re-rolling their first character simply to "do things right".

Complicating the matter is that I've probably rolled about six or seven more characters, most of whom haven't gotten past Ostagar.

I rerolled once. I started as a Dalish elf and made it as far as the Landsmeet/Duel with Loghain and my careful Machiavellian scheming was destroyed because I missed one little line of dialogue back outside Goldanna's house...gah. (In other words I wanted Alistair + Anora to rule jointly but couldn't find a way to make it work since Al wasn't "hardened.")

So the second time, I was a city elf instead and experienced much more of the game. And also I was able to pull strings behind the scenes the way I wanted. I finished the game with this one, but I was *really* torn about the ending. I chose to make the killing blow, since asking Loghain to do it just felt wrong. But after seeing what Leliana did in the Epilogue I felt so bad about that. I have both saves still there...I think when Awakening comes out I'll use the one where Loghain dies.

After that I made some new characters to see some of the different origins, but I'll always think of that city elf as my "main character."

My first character was a dwarf noble and I did end up deleting her and re-rolling her down the road mainly because she was my favorite character and there were a lot of things I had missed in my first playthrough. The first time I did Landsmeet, I spared Loghain and got quite a shock with Alistair leaving. I allowed myself to get distracted with Alistair and couldn't really accept that the game was trying to force me to make horrible choices in order to keep him around. That was the first time I reloaded a previous save and made a different choice in order to keep him. I always felt very unsatisfied, like I compromised myself. So when I rerolled much later, I paid extra attention to all the dialogue, told myself that I wasn't allowed to use metagaming information, and found myself STILL arriving to the same conclusion that my character wanted to gain a renowned general in the Grey Warden to help fight the Blight. It sucked losing Alistair as collateral damage, but I felt so much better about sticking with the original decision that I wanted in the first place.

BTW, I'm also redoing my dwarf commoner, too. I liked her first playthrough and really enjoyed the story enough to want to do it again. This time I decided to drastically change her look so she'd have red hair and green eyes like her sister and drunk mom. That just really adds to the fun. The dwarves are the only ones I've played multiple times. I just really love them. I kind of suffer through the elves and I hated the human playthrough, but I stuck it out because I wanted to see what extra dialogue humans had. Now I understand why some players seem to talk as if the game is the human noble's world and everyone else just lives in it. =p

I reroll characters all the time. I'm actually thinking of rerolling my human mage for the same reason. My first playthrough was just so bad from an RP standpoint, and I levelled her terribly. LoL I'm really torn at the moment because I am trying to decide what my "perfect" ending is for going into Awakenings, GW with Alistair forever or queen with Alistair... I'm leaning towards the former. LoL Maybe I'll make a decision by tonight. ;)

I've done 12 full runthroughs with 8 characters. 1 mage and 1 HN have gotten 3 runs apiece (although on two different platforms). I could probably play my dual-wield HN warrior 3 more times before the expansion and not get bored with her. Even if I only make the most minute of changes between each run it still feels different depending on my mindset on any given day.

All that said, I still have not completed the game with a Dwarf Noble or a Dalish elf. I've started three of the former, but I'm having trouble sticking with a character concept that works, which is sad since I think the Dwarf Noble has so much potential for awesomeness.

All my non-dwarven characters have made it to the endgame. Tho I have re-done several endings (City Elf Rogue first did Ultimate Sacrifice, then had Alistair do the Ritual, and promptly ran off with Zevran, for example). But none of the Following chars were ever the same. I only killed Connor with the first character to reach Redcliffe.

I did the DNF origin twice. Once was my first time through the game, and the next was to explore all the details with a comparison so I could tell what I'd missed before.

lol It looks like poor Kara will be rolled yet again, because the PS3/Bioware social connection failed me again. :-P Oh well, at least I was barely out of the Dalish origin, and I happen to like that origin a lot!

I think I remade my human noble male about 4 times alone.

And suddenly, I feel like he should have a head full of hair instead of shaved.

... damnit.
