I did reroll my very first character, although now I don't remember exactly why. I also recently deleted my only male character, but will probably reroll him for the experience of playing through as a man, if only for the romance options. (Frankly, though, I find the thought of wooing Morrigan a bit scary.)

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to create the best character(s) you can, and if that means rerolling, then so be it.

As I often have one "canon" character for each game I play, I always always have a reroll if I replay.

In Dragon Age's case, my first character - a Dalish elf - is in the early stages of his first replay. My avatar character, an Amell mage, has been rerolled/refined and played all the way through... Four times now.

I always consider my first playthrough my most 'canon', because I don't know how it will all end, so my actions are the most authentic.

I did kinda regret going 2-handed warrior instead of dual wield, though.

I did re-do my first character, and actually spent a good deal more time on that play-through. It was mostly because I wasn't very good at the character creator the first time, and his original appearance was always annoying to me whenever there was a close-up as it wasn't how I intended.
Plus I tend to get more attached to my first characters, and I wanted to replay the game but didn't feel like making a new character yet.

I didn't really change much of anything else, though, I just did a few more quests.

I am fighting the temptation (and will likely lose) to re-roll my first character, my Dalish elf, and replay her story because I feel I RPed it so badly, and missed so many things, since she was my first time through.  There were lots of decisions I felt I did out of character, simply because I wanted to try things in the game.  And with Awakening coming up, where those decisions might affect game play (and heck, just because her story will continue) I want to do her story and her character justice.

So, confess.  How many of you have rerolled characters, especially first characters, to do things "right"?  Make me feel better for being OCD about this!  :P

My first game I got about half way through and then just started over because I wanted to redo many of the actions I had made...

Yea...

I definitely had a few false starts, but now I am happy with look and feel of my male noble rogue and have pretty much straight RP him and so far so good. I am pretty sure I will take this one to the end. My only complaint is that I chose the violent voice, but I haven't given up on working out somehow to change that in game via a mod or something.

It has been mentioned before, but if Bioware had provided a playable area that you can see your new character in-game before you commit, then I think it would alleviate a lot of the frustrations of wanting to reroll purely for appearances, etc.

This area would not have to be complicated - it could be a bedroom or something

Once I discovered the hairstyles mods I just had to re-roll and create this gorgeous creature that I can't help drooling over in every cut scene.  My first effort was a bit of a munter!

Jeez... how sad is that?
