However, co-op/mulitplayer modes outside of the story would be a welcome addition to the franchise and its shame Pinnacle Station wasn't designed along these lines as it would have been a great DLC pack instead of the giant dog turd it actually was.

Mmorpg concept wouldn't seem bad. But mass effect is about it's a storyline, not as much gameplay.
Star Wars the Old Republic is an MMORPG developed by Bioware and it's going to be focused on storyline too. Hell, ME2 already had a lot of story but it's real meat is the combat, and God knows I'd love to join a big friend of mine who is curently playing ME2 to give him a hand against some of the challenges.
It's all a matter of knowing how to build the game or just making a separate mode entirely.

Meh, at least co-op would get past the shoddy AI.

anybody who says multiplayer would ruin ME should play the game again... b/c the ME2 combat is perfect for multiplayer imo. i could understand this argument with the first game, as its much more of an RPG and the combat was sorta clumsy, but ME2 is a different story. weather it be 3v3 match style, or a survival mode faceing wave after wave of geth/collector/mercs, or just co-op campaign, it would deff add to the game. anybody who says it would "ruin" the game is just being an RPG fanboi.

Wow good defense at last sentence...

urban dictionary - definition of fanboy
fanboy-
1. A person who is completely loyal to a game or company reguardless of if they suck or not.
2. A pathetic insult often used by fanboys themselves to try and put down people who don't like whatever it is they like.
for people who bash on people calling them fanboys, look @ #2... GG

I've never heard anyone say multiplayer ruined the Super Nintendo Final Fantasy games. Most people are completely unaware there was a multiplayer option in most of them, so it seems just as reasonable for Mass Effect to do the same thing.

If it was a different team adding it, and it didn't divert resources from the single player, then by all means. But chances are, whatever is spent on adding multiplayer, be it time, money or manpower, would mean taking stuff away from the single player.HedStr8EyesTite wrote...

There are already many great multiplayer games out there, but damn few good single player games.

maybe the dialog gets ****ed up but i think the geniuses at bioware can work around that.

It seems weird how everyone automatically assumes multiplayer = deathmatch. The game has a squad of three characters, so the most logical place for multiplayer, if it was to be included, would be for people to take control of one of your squadmates, which wouldn't really cause any alterations to the game itself, just the AI is turned off and given to a human player.

Except the meat of the combat is based for one player. How are they going to incorperate the power wheel into a multiplayer game? Every time you pull it up it pauses the game.
Yeah, you can make the argument that they added the button mapping but there are some out there (such as myself) who actually prefer the power wheel to the button mapping (I rarely, if ever, use the maped key for a power in ME2).
