Most Favorite: A tie between the Elcor and the Hanar. Both are truly 'alien', as opposed to looking like costumes or masks. They look more like something that would actually be encountered as alien life.

Least Favorite: Asari. I don't like the blatant fan service aspect of them.

My Favorite: The Krogan - Strong powerful, honorable race of warriors. Built upon the blood of their enemies. They remind me of humanity, before wars became fought on a political level rather then on the battlefield.

My least Favorite: The Asari - For a race which can live for 1000 years, they sure as hell know how to waste their lives as Strippers or Merc Vanguards.

Least? Ah... Turian. The Turian Councillor ruined them for me.

Ah, yes. "Ruined".

Having said this if you do live for a 1000 years why not be a merc or stripper for 50 or 100 of them. Its not like you're losing much.

In Me1, my fave were the Asari, the Elcor and quarians. I couldn't stand the volus, the salarians or the turians.

In ME2, that has completely changed. Love the Hanar, Salarians, turians, asari, the drell, forever and always <3, etc. Well, i'm pretty much liek kelly in ME2, love everyone! Except perhaps Morinth, but that's b/o the idividual.

Least favourite.. Definitely Vorcha.. For obvious reasons. I don't care if they're actually very nice, I don't like their mugs and yes, I am that shallow. Oh and Elcor. They... talk... so... slooooow. And I only found out I could skip convo's at the end of ME1 wtf. -_-

Favourite.. I like Turians, they look cool and I liked Garrus a lot in ME1 (In 2 he thinks stupid calibrations are more important than having quality teatime with Shep wtf).
And Varren. Well, Urz anyway, I thought he was adorable. I would love to smuggle him onboard of the Normandy and promote him as a squad member.

Least Favorite- Ah, yes........Turians. They all blow. (Garrus doesn't even consider himself a good Turian, and he's clearly the coolest one you meet. What does that say about the race)

Favorite- Pleasantly surprise. Elcor. (Their voices...they just sho cyuute!)

Most favoritest: Asari. Besides humans, they have the most variety in personalities. Mean mercs, sexy strippers, no-nonsense Justicars, awkward scientists, badass commandos, friendly matriachs, etc. Most of the other races have stricter archetypes they fit in.

Least favoritest: Vorcha. totally corny and something that would fit better in Vampire: Bloodlines than Mass Effect.

I most like the Hanar, Elcor, Volus, Salarians. They're distinctive and they play with the real possibility in science fiction for funky/distinctive life forms. I've noticed that their sheer difference value inspires the writers to give us glimpses of their cultural perspectives too. The Batarians are potentially neat, but they're mostly written as galactic jerks (most of what I know of their culture comes not even from the codex but the novels). Turians and Quarians have a lot of potential, but most of them seem pretty bland in-game. The writers may have made the Asari as a fan-service female race, but they were given some neat qualities through the concept of bioelectric telempathic pseudoparthenogenesis. It's too bad that this ended up as fluff text mostly, and Asari don't really exhibit any sense of their own identity, always speaking in our more familiar terms (you'd think they'd have a word-concept better suited to their biology than "father" for the individual used for the gene randomization process). The Vorcha could have been awesome, but they're mostly giggling gremlins as best as I can tell.

Favorite: Do the geth count? They're my favorite. Mostly because all the other species hate them. It's always emotional for me when I have to kill them, which just adds to their tragic appeal.

Least Favorite: Volus, they talk big but never back it up.

Most favourite: turians. Japan and Roman Empire slapped together. Can't get more geeky. I'd say more but I'd never stop.

Least favourite: asari. Oh gods, where do I even begin. A race of space ****s that will get laid with anyone and just happens to be attractive in human terms. A ton of female stereotypes all piled up in one place like nobody's business, and yet BW lack the backbone to call them female when homosexuality is implied. So supposedly omnisexual, but listen to the convos on Illium and their pairings appear to be almost exclusively male-female. In fact, almost all street convos on Illium are concerned with breeding, save maybe one. Bloody hell. So much for a greater insight into the much vaunted asari culture I had been hoping for.

BW Codex efforts to make them appear speshul just make the whole race worse. Hypocrisy and cowardice are strong with this one.

Favorite: Tie between Quarians and Batarians.

Least Favorite: Asari. Mono-gendered natural reproduction through mind melding? How did the original Asari figure that one out? Not to mention not much of their culture is shown besides they have some neat architecture on Ilium and they have the maiden, matron, matriarch stages.

I like Turians and Quarians pretty evenly. I really do respect Turians. I think the only reason I like Quarians so much is just because I love Tali :) [xenopheliac!]

I didn't care about Quarians or Tali in ME1, but growing closer and experiencing them in ME2 made me respect them more. I still do not honor decisions they made in the past, but they have to live with it.

My least favorite, now you're just asking me to be xenophobic or xenoist, whatever racism is at the species level. Honestly, I do not respect the Vorcha at all, they are a blight. Batarians just got to a rough start with humans, they can't all be that bad.

My 21st century progressive aculturation certainly makes it harder to identify with aliens with a rigid caste system and institutionalized slavery (on an emotional level) but you've sure got it right on the "rough start with humans" bit!

Putting together pieces of the timeline... Batarians had been signatories to the Citadel Conventions for 2,200 years or so when they pulled out in protest because the Citadel Council would not scold humanity for encroaching on Batarian territories in the Terminus Systems. This was... 6 years after the Systems Alliance signed on to the Citadel Conventions. If I was Batarian, I'd be roaring mad too!
