DON'T DO IT!

Installing the toolset seems to break some of the scripts in-game, by overriding the Single Player campaign with one that doesn't work correctly.

If you want to actually play the game, then DON'T INSTALL the toolset until they play this. Consider yourself warned!

'

Anyone can confirm this and explain which of the scripts break? I don't want to risk not being able to complete the campaign.

becouse it is the toolset used originaly to make the campaigns...it will automaticaly 'update' the information in DAO campaigns.

until more evidence is given, i would consider this to be a issue that doesnt happen often, i would supsect it has to do with the way the current installer works with SQL server 2005.

I have yet to test this fix (or even get the error), but that should solve the above toolset error.

I found the where I need to make the change, and entered "SELECT @certificate_name = '''' + REPLACE(@certificate_name, '''', '''''') + ''''

But when I save it says "Make sure that Path and file name are correct" I opened the file at the correct path

When I find the file that i need to modify, widows asks, "open with" I used note pad; I make the change and get the error

Pegasi, I had the same issue. Save in another directory, then copy it into the install directory. Windows security.

yes, it auto protects files that it thinks have to do with programming or core SQL files etc. especialy in vista...its why as a gamer i have the administrator always on, or unprotected mode....it interfears with too many gaming programs.

My copy of the game is a Steam Distribution -

I just wanted to note that by following the 'work arounds' it appears that my tool set is working...

I had various botched attempts... but ultimately, I did both fixes on the fly... 1st, I changed the line inside the file they tell you to edit, then got the error about the database, and changed that same file into a blank file (of the same name of course,) that done the install continued on it's marry way, however, it said that the install was 'unsuccessful' even though the progress bar was in the 100% position.

on a whim, I fired it up, and everything seems to be working fine. thanks for the quick helps on getting this working.

that's my 2 cents.

Both the help on

http://social.biowar...tion_with_Steam

and the help on the microsoft website did not fix my problem with the toolset.
I DON'T have the steam version, yet I still get the

"SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was [Microsoft] [SQL Native Client] [SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near '='. "

error.

I even tried deleting the "temp_MS_AgentSigningCertificate_database.MDF and LDF" files, still not fixed.
I hope the steam fix BioWare is working on will be my solution as well.

/sigh

I have tried for 2 days now to follow the above...

When I try to go to : http://social.biowar...tion_with_Steam

It says I must log in - I tried to enable all cookies as I thought this might fix it

Can anyone point out what I might be doing wrong?

I tried following the posts above by doing :

open file \\\\\\\\Steam\\\\\\\\steamapps\\\\\\\\common\\\\\\\\dragon age origins\\\\\\\\tools\\\\\\\\toolssql\\\\\\\\MSSQL.1\\\\\\\\MSSQL\\\\\\\\Install\\\\\\\\Sysdbupg.sql

Find:

SELECT @certificate_name = QUOTENAME(@certificate_name, '''')

Replace With:

SELECT @certificate_name = '''' + REPLACE(@certificate_name, '''', '''''') + ''''

Re-install toolkit

When I finish the attempt it will not allow me to save the file.

I have Vista 64.

Please any suggestions would help.

I had the same issue. What I did was copy that file out into My Documents, then rewrite the line from inside My Documents and then drag it back into the Install folder- I couldn't re-write it while it was being installed but, windows allowed me to replace it.

Yea, that was brought up on another thread. You need to save the file elsewhere and drag it into the install directory. Windows locked down that section, apparently.

As a success and a note on my error, I have Steam and Vista 64, and when I installed I needed to do the long filename trick. Regardless of if I needed to do it or not, I did the registry edit, and due to me mistyping the entry, the database could not be accessed. Once I fixed that, it ran perfectly.

SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near '='.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error information.

I can not seem to get this to install on a 64 bit system window 7

Which file was it mentioning when this happened? Sounded like something you didn't copy and pasted right.

I installed the toolset, got the error, then I uninstalled it and now when I boot up I get an SQL error saying I need to reinstall something. Why would you make my OS not function properly any more with your toolset Bioware?

You should not uninstall the toolset just to get it working. If you wanting this to work you should just run the setup again not uninstall and reinstall since that will delete the file in question.

How about releasing a version that works instead of us having to hack it

when i install at the end it says that it can't overwrite the uninstall.exe file. i choose ignore and from the looks of things the toolset works. is this going to cause me difficulties down the road?

I have tried all the workarounds I can find to get this working. I have Vista 32 (and I'm admin), but the SYSDBUPG.SQL edits do not work (return the same error no matter what I change). I even tried installing SQL Express standalone. I think that only made it worse, because the DA Toolset seems to have gutted the standalone SQL Express install when I decided to uninstall the Toolset. I am reinstalling the standalone so that I can do a proper uninstallation.  In the meantime, can someone tell me why the wiki is restricted?

The way this forum manages escape characters is rather distressing. It may indicate why the core problem here is SQL syntax related.
