Thanks for the deets/instructions. It took me some back and forth navigation to figure out that I had to apply these changes mid-install, but once I did that it worked perfectly!

I am getting an error, something about my WMI file configuration. I am running vista sp1... I am having a nasty feeling that this is going to cause me to reinstall windows... I am not look forward to doing this...

I just got done re-installing windows due to a series of errors that got generated upon a failed install attempt, and then a crash.  Hosed my OS but good.  Did all kinds of interesting things to the .net framework, amongst them making it impossible to use the uninstall framework.

Buyer beware on this one.  Backup your data lol.

I love working with world editors, and actually used to do it for a living at a game publisher, but this one scares me lol.

Windows 7 64bit, steam -

I just got my tool set to work. The key for me was unintalling everything related to SQL 2005, DA, everything, from the windows application manager.

I then installed SQL Express 2005 release 3 on its own. (separate from DA tools install)

Then I installed DA, got the "SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was [Microsoft] [SQL Native Client] [SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near '='. " error.

While install was still running, at the retry sequence, I edited sysdbupg.sql as directed at http://social.biowar...ion_with_Steam. Saved. Retried.

Install finished with an error saying something about the DA tool set uninstall not installing properly. I hit ignore and install completed.

Launched to tool set and it booted up properly... I think... :\\

ble to get any of this to work, windows 7 and steam. Gives me the error, I add it in, hit retry, and it just throws the error over and over, so i hit cancel, and it finishes install, aaaaaand still fails tow work, even after like 10 attempts. Arg.

There are issues with cookies or so it seems. Logout, then log back in (from Social). That worked for me.

Yep, it did work just as posted above.

For the lazy:

open file \\\\\\\\Steam\\\\\\\\steamapps\\\\\\\\common\\\\\\\\dragon age origins\\\\\\\\tools\\\\\\\\toolssql\\\\\\\\MSSQL.1\\\\\\\\MSSQL\\\\\\\\Install\\\\\\\\Sysdbupg.sql

Find:
SELECT @certificate_name = QUOTENAME(@certificate_name, '''')
Replace With:
SELECT @certificate_name = '''' + REPLACE(@certificate_name, '''', '''''') + ''''
Re-install toolkit

Thanks this worked for me.

@ The Junk & Ag0Ag0

So I'm guessing that because I didn't uninstall SQL I got the following error:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
------------------------------

SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near '”'.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error information.

XP SP3, Steam

It sounds like I'm having the same issue as others here, except I never get an error that tells me to retry, abort, or fail, so I never get to go into the file and edit the line. I just get the typical "Do you want to tell microsoft about this problem?" thing while the toolset installer only has the option to click finish. The database never finishes installing and I end up with a toolset installed without a database. Anyone have any idea?

When I tried to reinstall the toolset I only had a MSSQL.2 folder. I ran the installer again and it popped up a different error - I forgot to copy but it basically said something about not parsing sysdbupg.sql. I deleted the file (MSSQL.2\\\\MSSQL\\\\Install) and replaced with a blank file with same name. Installer carried on and I can now use the toolset.

This is what worked for me. Thanks!

Well, editing the line in the script does work, you do however have to delete the files for the temp database that were created on the failed attempt. Check the logs directory file for the last error details. They will be much more enlightning. For me if it said "failed create database" meant that i needed to delete the database created on the previous install while "'=' sign" error meant that i needed to edit the .sql file script. Cheers.

I've noticed that mine doesn't even install the \\\\Steam\\\\steamapps\\\\common\\\\dragon age origins\\\\tools\\\\toolssql\\\\MSSQL.1\\\\MSSQL\\\\Install\\\\Sysdbupg.sql file at all, tried to make the directories and paste in the edited file, deleted an old one, tried it blank, etc. Still failure.
:(

Has bioware figured a way about fixing this yet? Because I think this app should just be on steam.com as far as i can see, idk why this hasent been fixed yet.

That path only exists DURING the installation (you can only edit it while you have the pop for the error). It is deleted after the instalation ends. The path with the Logs and the Data however still remains and you have to delete the data files for the Temp Database manually.

What's the error you get?

One of the things it says in the error log is that I am not set to administrator, when I clearly am. In fact the only user on my computer is an administrator. I'm using Windows SP 3.

well i'm trying to install at the moment but I do have to ask, while i admire the fine work to resolve this, why wasn't the toolset install checked with steam prior to release? Me thinks QA depts need to go back to skool...

All right, I'm having some issues. I had the issue with the sysdbupg.sql file, but when replacing this file SELECT @certificate_name = QUOTENAME(@certificate_name, ''''), Notepad won't allow me to save. Instead, it tells me that I can't create the given path.

What do I do to save? Do I need to close the SQL Server because I currently have that open?

All right, nevermind. I found out that I had to give myself full control of the system to make the change.

EDIT:  OKies... it does work with Win 7.

Do the normal fix described on page 1

For the error:
....incorrect syntax near '='.
Do the fix described on page 1

It is going to error out again with:
incorrect syntax near '/'.
This is when we have to replace the Sysdbupg.sql with a blank file of the same name.

Hope this helps someone else, as I didn't see my error reported.
