I have at least 8 different characters, have played this game over and over again, and not once- NOT ONCE have I ever encountered this random event.

Does anybody know if perhaps, it's more likely to trigger after say: a certain level, seeing as how the weapon is Silverite, maybe around lvls 13-17? Or perhaps it is more common in certain areas of Fereldan? Do I have to complete a certain amount of main story quests?

Does anybody who have actually obtained the item remember any spceifics as to where they were along the story when they obtained it? Please help!?

I'm in the same boat. Unlucky, I guess.

I've seen it once. It's very funny. I am on an embarrassing number play through. It's exceedingly rare.

Someone posted a while back (I'm too lazy to search) that it seems to trigger more often if you travel back and forth from the Brecilian forests (outskirts, west and east) to Denerim. It is very rare.

What lvl were they, and at what point in the game was it, do you happen to remember?

Geez, no I really don't remember. It was probably after a couple of treaties. I certainly didn't use the axe, but the encounter was very funny. It may have been in the forest though, I want to say between redcliff and the Dalish. But it was a bit ago.

I've only triggered it once in all my play-throughs. From what I recall it was around mid-game (2 main quests finished, approx). I was travelling from Orzammar to the Brecilian Forest. Its a Silverite Axe, so I don't know if you have to be around the Sllverite level to trigger it. It is, quite possibly, the rarest encounter in the game.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so I guess I haven't encountered it on any of my four playthroughs (not counting the ones where I didn't like something about my character and started over early in the game). It's nice to know there are still surprises in store!. I shall now avoid this thread so it stays that way. ;)

"A random encounter leads to a group of people standing around an axe stuck in a stump. The axe is called Axameter, and whoever pulls it out is the true ruler of the land according to one 'dung covered peasant'. Later dialogue strongly resembles Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail as one peasant argues that The Warden has a regal air because he or she 'hasn't got dung all over them.' The 'dung covered peasant' also remarks that the proceedings are no basis for a system of government, just as 'strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government' either."

Being an Easter Egg, I guess you are better at getting the Superman Cameo than this one.

I had that encounter in my first playthrough (122 hrs). I'm not sure what triggers it (if anything).

I'm currently on my second.

Well, I'm on my tenth playthru, and never seen this....

Hmmm.... is there a mod that can alter frequencies of the Random encounters?

*semi-spoilers*

The Lord of the Rings reference one. You fight a group of powerful Shades (3 elite, 1 boss). A note on a nearby charred corpse reads "why oh why didn't we take the flying eagles..."). The corpses are presumably meant to be Samwise Gamgee and our dear Master Frodo.

I obtained the axe today traveling between Denerim and the Dalish Camp :P

First try to obtain it too. I even made a save to remember the wonderful moment :D

I was a Duel-Wielding NHM Rogue, Level 15.

I had finished the Urn of Sacred Ashes, Mage's Tower, Saving Arl Eamon, and brought a peaceful conclusion for the Dalish Elves, and Werewolfs. Hope this helps

Also, the eagle encounter has you face some shades and you get a funny line, refering to a LOTR youtube video.

This is also like my Third/Fourth Playthrough. :D

I've gotten the Lord of the Rings one once in five play throughs, soon to be six. Though amusingly enough, I got it right after asking on here how to get it. :-P Literally that evening. I have yet to see Azemeter, though I'm hoping that since I want my current Commoner dwarf to be axe and shield, she might be the lucky play through to get it!

I've never gotten the ring yet lol. Maybe I will later when I play :)

As far as when it happens, mine was right after the landsmeet n I was going to the elves to stock up on elfroots for potions before the final battle, so somewhere between Denerim n the Brecilian outskirts.

I created an article on the area it appears in some time ago for the DAO Wiki.

http://dragonage.wik...m/wiki/Axameter - Everything you need to know can be found there, and on the Strange Wood page.
