I posted here because I don't really know if this is a bug or not but during the battle of Redcliffe when you are fighting the walking corpses when the militia archer calls you to head down towards the lake for the other group I headed down there and started aiding the group fighting in the middle of the barricades.
Now the issue is I chewed through a lot of walking dead mobs but they kept coming in fact it went on for so long that everyone in the militia was dead and the centre log stack with the oil barrels wasn't on fire. After this went on for close to 40 mins I ran out of lyrium potions and health poultices and I thought something didn't seem right as I had stockpiled over 20 of each (incl regular health poultices). So I ran back to the top of the hill after morrigan fell (party was me as tank, leilana, shale and morrigan) where the knights were and two more walking dead ran out from the original barrier and while I had run from the bottom only one mob had followed me even though there had been 6 when I ran. I stopped and managed to kill the one from the bottom that followed me while the knights killed the other two with my help.
When I walked back down to the hill there was only one mob just standing there and he died from one arrow shot from leiliana. My question is this how many waves did everyone else fight? Did anyone else train the mobs back to the knights from the bottom? Was the log section burning? When I returned it was so yeah sorry for the long post I am just curious. If it's a bug I want it reported if it was I literally just survived and the other walking dead were just scripting until i ran away I'd like to know.

Really sounds like a bug if you spent 40 minutes fighting the group down by the water. It also sounds like you already know the cause - there were some left alive up top.

I fought the ones on top until the NPC comes up the hill and yells that the malitia at the bottom needs help. Then I ran down and started to fight them down there. I am soon overwhelmedand I kite them all back up tot the top so teh knights will help me. I then run back down to grab the next group and run back tot he top. Took a long while but it was great fun!

I'm going to go with this being a bug as well.

When I fought the battle, the militia from below came up and got me. I ran down and helped, but despite my help, everyone down there died except for two of my party members.

After that was done, we headed back up to the top. The enemies kept coming...one at a time...over and over and over and over again. Until eventually, they stopped coming. And then, nothing else happened.

I've searched everywhere, there's no enemies to kill, no place to go, and no one who will talk to me. I think that's because the important NPC who was with the militia down below was killed during the fighting. And nothing I do will progress the game.

We just stand around while battle music plays, doing nothing....and we seem to be stuck that way.

Yeah I brought only 1 up with me when there were 6 but when i returned there was only one at the bottom....so who killed the other 5? Also the militia dude did tell me to come down and there were no dead left at the top. Oh well I will take it was a bug as I just found some other people mentioned they reloaded after being stuck fighting multiple waves and then the reload never had near as many.

someone else just mentioned that the enemies stopped coming and they couldnt advance...I think this section is bugged especially because of the range of the fight and the scripting from having an npc come and "activating" the second set of fights. i actually checked the strategy guide which I got for subquests and when I checked it says that there are only a few waves and then you have to go kill stragglers which wasn't the case for me

No one's burned you at the stake for spoilers yet? No fair. :P

Anywho, ProphetSword, did you run through the fire to the top of the hill to look? I found a few just milling around stupidly like they'd forgotten how to pillage like it's 1999.

When I did this I had to walk around the docks and kill two random zombies that were just standing around. It took me forever to figure out and as soon as I killed the last one it jumped to a cutscene.

I just did this quest last night. I say I fought about six waves of zombies before the quest ended and we were victorious. My strategy was to stay at the top of the hill and use arrows and bolts to lure the zombies to us, making them wade through a gauntlet of fire. Then we engaged them with swords. Also, by staying at the top of the hill, my party had a chance to heal and, occasionally, level up before the next wave attacked. It was a close fight (we completely ran out of health kits) but we won.

Tough quest. Doubly so as the first time I missed the barrels of oil in the warehouse, which were essential to victory.

Look harder and use your mini-map to find them.  I had the same thing happen to me and I started hunting around for what caused it and lo and behold, when I went back to the bottom there was one stuck way in the back past the barricades.  I could not see it on the mini-map from the hill where I had set up shop to fight those waves but when I ran down to the barricades, I immediately saw a red triangle on the mini-map so I ran over, killed him and finished it.

PS:  Earthquake was made for this fight Posted Image

Yeah this was definitely a bug for me after I confirmed it. I ended up reloading the save before the battle and fought 3 waves on normal and all i did was run back up to the hill once right at the start after I engaged the first group. After running back down I killed two more waves down by the Chantry building and it took me 10-15 mins if that.

Ok, so I'm on the Final Battle - Save Redcliffe quest. I started at the top of the hill, killed all the darkspawn, I was told there were more at the bottom, killed them all as well. So, being that there were none left, I proceeded to the castle. I killed all the mobs in there that spawned. After I am done, there is nothing else to do. I have searched every nook and cranny inside the courtyard of the castle (because I can't get inside the castle itself) and at the top and bottom of the hill in the village and the docks....everywhere...literally...everywhere. The game won't advance. No one to talk to, I can't enter any buildings, and no more spawns...I'm slightly pissed off because I've put 40 hours in to the game to get here and now I can't advance.

anyone else have this problem?

IIRC, the game saves just before it starts, just try again. I had the same problem, fought forever, everyone died, and so forth, but my problem was because my party members never followed me downhill. Once I remembered to grab them all, we finished it off with only one member dying.
