Meh. The best way to ensure more news is to keep it visible.

In the interest of providing solutions, I think Bioware should combine the already recorded and produced m/m relationship scenes with a patch that opens up all the romances to either gender and release it as free DLC available through cerberus network.
Since we know romances are started with a simple on/off switch in the code (is shepherd female? Yes then open romance; no then do not open option), this patch wouldn't be hard. The only problem I see is that I'm not sure any dialogue was recorded where female or male LIs use the proper gender pronoun. Otherwise it seems pretty easy.

That problem alone makes it a terrible solution. If it's done it should be done well. Gender specific pronouns used incorrectly would break immersion instantly.

Easiest way to solve this would just have the VOs constantly use Shepard and Commander instead of gender pronouns. And use "person" instead of woman/man.
>_>
I never said it was a partically GOOD solution but it is a viable one.

A number of pages ago (hell, it may have even been another thread), someone suggested Joker as a good candidate for it, considering he's already there (no jarring introduction of a new character) and has no established sexual or romantic history. You could introduce it in some sort of content pack - a good writer could make it work well. I think that could work.

I also found somewhat humorous that Bioware assumed (or had to) assume stance that Asari are not women so having a female - female relationship was okay. I mean they look like women, sound like women, have feminine titles etc. If they wanted a monogendered species that didn't have "lesbian" tones wouldn't it have been more logical to pick Krogan, Salarian or Turian. They certainly lack the distinct human female shape (i.e. breasts) considering they are not mammals - heck, Salarians even lay eggs so no need for breasts! Perfect for monogenderism without any (human) sexual undertones.
I also found it strange that they would rather include interspecies romances than homosexual ones. Is homosexuality really so abominable that people more readily accept romances with aliens than other human beings? Not that I'm opposed to interspecies romances if humanity ever met an alien race. Hmm, hanar and humans? Isn't there a subsect of porn that focuses on tentacles?
Shame we didn't get Kaidan though - or Carth in Kotor. I liked these character a lot. A bit like how I liked Zu and Alistair more than Sky or that elf, who I didn't like at all, and wouldn't have liked the Drell guy in ME2. I also find it slightly annoying how you usually come out as a jerk if you turn down the female romance interests. I mean it's like we can't be nice to them without wanting to bed them?
Oh well, can't complain too much. Hopefully some men in ME3 will "see the light" and be ready to romance my *male* Shepard. I get tired of all women falling in love with *my* Shepard! I suppose I can't blame them though as I'd certainly try to romance him if he was a real guy. Excellent writing by the team and voice acting by Mr. Meer! All in all both games were great though I think I liked ME2 more in the end. I just hoped they would have a "gay romance" in ME2 simply because I like romances as part of my entertainment. Less complicated than the real thing anyways.

I was mostly trying to be witty and failing.
I don't think it should be paid DLC (unless of course, it's delivered through Cerberus network, which would be ok since most of us paid for that already). My initial suggestion was just a mandatory patch, maybe delivered with some bug fixes and other content updates. The sort of patch that, on the Xbox at least, DCs you from xbox live until you install it.

The Tali/Garrus fanservice was probably only done as Tali and Garrus are central parts to the game anyway. No matter how much you guys protest or retread the same ground over and over, it isn't gonna happen.

Pretty much this.
I'm not overly fond of DLC in general but what the hell. I'd get it. >_>

Has been suggested multiple times in this thread alone but.. hum. I would certainly buy it but even I can foresee the reactions to it and even rationalize some of them.
Some people would complain they spent resources on building "gay content" instead of expanding the game with something they find more preferable.
Some people would feel Bioware was pushing "adult content" into a mature game by introducing gay romance (not debating stupidity of age gating for different sexualities here, just pointing out one argument).
Some people would oppose it based on personal values (religious or otherwise) though these same people would oppose gay romances even as part of normal game, so nothing new here.
Some people would complain that Bioware is treating homosexuals as second rate citizens by charging extra for homosexual content (which makes sense from a business perspective since we are indeed a minority).
I wouldn't mind it really and I'm certainly among the first to grab the new content if it was released assuming it is of same high quality as the rest of the game. I'm just not getting my hopes up for something that is unlikely to happen. <_<

On the other hand, it could be mandatory just to cater to our most open minded of gamers like valttu.

To be fair, the protests against it are voiced by even fewer people. I'm guessing most people are so indifferent they wouldn't mind either way.JamesMoriarty123 wrote...
The fact is, no matter how "visible" this thread is, all you really have is 20 people reposting. Constantly. Bioware aren't gonna do a thing for such a small support group.

Theres no harm in letting people discuss it, to keep telling them it's pointless to try only encourages the discussion further.

By all means, I'm not against discussion. But the same issues/solutions come up again and again. It's like people just aren't reading the previous threads at all.
You have to remember as well, only a small portion of gamers would actually post here, mostly people who own the PC version as well I would imagine.
With ME being so close to it's end, I just can't see it happening. I mean Ray Muzyka said as much in the IGN article. Sure, people are in denial due to the fact that he gave a veiled answer, but calling a turd a turd and calling it a repugnant coil of faeces are still the same thing. If you catch my drift. o.O
When you mention DA in one breath and then say that you want to take ME in a different direction in the next, after being asked a clear question, the answer becomes pretty definitive.

I also suspect there are more people who actively support this than you claim. Lots of people might duck in to give a thumbs up in one thread and never come back. Personally, I didn't post on it at all before this third thread.
In any event, we're just talking about it - and we're keeping it to one thread, so as not to clutter the board. There's no harm in it, and telling us not to bother with it just because it might not happen is kind of pointless.

Yeah, I catch your drift, that you're full of **** and in denial that people want this option in the game, and aren't going to take some vaguely exclusionary interview as an answer

Angry ****** is angry. Boy you mad.
The interview made it painfully clear. The fact that you deny this leads me to believe your ancestors executed people that proposed a spherical planet over a flat one.
Seriously you are dense. Most people don't want ****** love in their game. Some people are ambivalent, and some want it. In reality, millions of copies were sold. Most of the customers are hetero, and probably want the game to stay that way.
You people are disgusting, you constantly moan about such a small portion of the game instead of focusing on bigger matters. Go get a real life boyfriend. Jesus.
