Well cutting the ability to access the scenes in a unmodded playthrough was enough to make it non-cannon. However the fact they were written as such in the script, voice actors were paid to do the scenes, and in some cases the animators even finished the scenes. Shows that up until near release these characters were indeed intended to be bisexual in the game.Kuravid wrote...
Ah yes, I remember that talk about Alistair and Morrigan getting that dialogue in DA, as well. However I believe a moderator left some comments (I couldn't link this to you because I don't know of the posts) about how just because the dialogue was written in and voiced for modders to reenable, didn't mean that they intended for that character to be a bisexual option in the actual game (like, canon-wise, for lack of a better term).
As for Dragon age I have modded the hell out of that game. As far as I am aware there was never any recorded dialog or plans for Alistair as a male romance option as he is heterosexual. That is fine and is not an issue. However the characters in Mass Effect were not up until a point.

Yeah. It did me as well. Bioware is trying to reach a larger target audience though. They already have us the RPG fans roped in so why not try and get those of a completely different genre as well?FataliTensei wrote...
on the subject of it becoming a quasi-shooter, i was saddened by the focus on guns in the game, I mean I have the ability to effect dark matter and dark energy with my mind but pulling out a pistol and shooting is more effective, na that ticked me off

Why do people think that being gay or bisexual means we think about sex constantly?

Don't worry, he'd take so long reaching a consensus that Shepard would get bored and find something else to romance.FataliTensei wrote...

Quite a few people havn't had their Shepard romance anyone in the last 2 games through lack of options, their Shepards aren't hetero.I'd rather Shepard remain a heterosexual, it would make no sense at all for him to suddenly start using the back door in ME3.

Besides, he stands more chance concentrating with Jacob than with Miranda pracing around in that skin tight armor of hers. DAT ASS

Well, I'm not sure if it actually proves that they intended for Shepherd to be bisexual or not. I'm not too keen on game development, but I know like anything else a lot of ideas end up getting tossed out in the end simply because they don't want it, or there are flaws/problems with it, etc.
And I think with male Shepherd they're really trying to go with the ultra masculine super soldier type of guy (and most don't view that idea as being compatible with homosexual male relationships because of gay stereotypes and blah blah).
I remember in either the toolset forum or maybe the spoilers forum for DA there was a big post about how to get bi romances with Morrigan and Alistair, but I guess that was only a text based mod made by a fan after all.

No they intended Shepard to be our character. As they said countless times he is ours to fully customise. That even envisioned his sexuality at one point. That fell out of favour near release. I could make a list of the countless military figures throughout history who have been gay or at least bisexual. However it does combat the stereotypes that you pointed out. The point is Shepard was originally supposed to be our character and he still is just up until a point. Just because my ultra masculine super soldier would be gay does not in any way make yours less straight or masculine. It just allows for greater customisation and immersion.Kuravid wrote...

Yeah. It probably was. I have come across a lot of text based mods. There are some to even change in game audio to make Alistair bisexual as well. It would actually not be difficult but really time consuming. All the scenese have been animated really well by players infact. So just splicing audio files is not a very far off step

Your stance on the matter is were I also stand on the issue . A new character would be better than converting an existing character like Shepard messing with the game.I agree same sex is not appealing to me at all.But if it were put in the next title I wouldn't have a problem with it.

So basically, most of the people who have been beating the dead horse for about 300 pages total feel that anyone who has difference of opinion should just be quiet and not post, because this is the only thread that can exist regarding this issue (since the moderators keep closing down any other threads) and that anyone with a differing opinion is automatically a troll?
You guys keep accusing people of being hypocrite and ignorant, but it is this kind of behavior that I feel is hypocrite and ignorant. If you are going to accuse someone of being whatever, then you might as well look into a mirror and reflect on your own words and behaviors.

This is funny. If anyone comes in here, making his/her opinion that gay romance is not preferred and not wanted in Mass Effect universe, he/she is automatically labeled a troll, just for having a difference of opinion. Then, when someone like me starts a thread to express my protest against this idea, some of the participants immediately jump into that thread and start making offensive and unnecessary insults. And then, the thread creator gets called a troll. On top of that, any thread started in the interest of contempt for such idea gets closed down by the moderators, which kicks everyone back to this thread.

That's not really true. Most people here are quite up for a discussion as to why you think it's wrong to have it in game and/or how it would negatively affect your gameplay if it was included. Look back a couple of pages and you'll see Collider making good points against the inclusion of it, a discussion was had and he wasn't branded a troll. On the other hand you'll get people who will sway between actual debate and offensive remarks and downright bigoted ignorance. Understandably patience runs a bit thin with these people.Grilled Trout wrote...

Basically if you're willing to divulge on your opinion a bit, for or against, we're willing to have a discussion. If you come into the thread saying "Shepard ain't no queer" with no sensible reasoning, you're going to be branded a troll.
