I'm sure there's a way to incorporate that into some Shenko :P

Aaaand to get back on topic...

Which existing characters do you all think would make good m/m LI's?

In a non-altering way that is, so nobody that has any romantic history established in the game.

My votes go to Joker, Kal'Reegar, and Feron.

I think Feron would be good. :-)  Also a way to get Liara back into the game.  ^^...

Kaiden, most definitely. Technically absolutely nothing about his sexuality has been established other than that he is attracted to women....could be attracted to me as well :).

<3 Kaidy.

I just can't picture a romance with Joker. His character doesn't say 'romance' to me. Hey, there's plenty of others who want him as one though, who am I to judge? If he was included as one though I don't think my manShep would oblige himself of his masculine wiles.

Other than that, I can't think of anyone on the current cast I'd want my manShep to romance (don't forget, he is already falling for Kaidan).

(I'll admit, I don't know who Feron is ... Have I missed something?)

^^; Plus this would appease all of the Shep/Liara fans who were wanting him dead for being within a few feet of her, lol.

Feron is very likely to be the dead friend that Liara talks about when you get her open up...

If there is ever an m/m romance in ME games,  you can bet it will be with a character who is romanceable by both gengers.  So, I don't see why the characters cannot have any previous romantic history with the opposite sex...

Kaidan all the way.   He is pretty much the only attactive male in the ME games, besides the default Shepard.

No he isn't....  You need to probe a little more, after completing all of her missions.

Thanks - you know I've even read #1 as it came with the CE *fail*

Arik, if I had an option I'd far prefer Kaidan to open up as bi in ME3 than have a new character introduced, but that's because my manShep has already created a relationship with him (in my head) in the previous 2 episodes. However, I honestly don't think it's going to happen. I'll forever (well, until 3 comes out I guess) hold out hope, because I want it so badly, but I already have the gnawing feeling of disappointment in the pit of my stomach.

I was thinking about this recently, and Kaidan is the only guy in either ME games that I would consider romance material, and this is from a straight female perspective. The game definately lacks strong male charaters that aren't jerks or krogan. Unless you'd go for Conrad Verner. ... Uh, no thanks.

I probed all the way, until every Liara's mission was done, and all she did was repeat the same lines. I don't remember anything that would have directly indicated otherwise, though she didn't name any names.

Apart from some shaky va work, Kaidan's pretty much perfect. I speak as a straight woman who fancies the pants off him, and via manShep, who also does.

Lightice, She mentions an "either or" situation going on. I'd be more specific but we may be in spoiler territory already.

I like Kaidan well enough but he sort of bored me to tears at the same time... I like a sense of humor (hence my Joker attraction) and I think Kaidan had his removed on Jump Zero.

My Kal.Love is based entirely on my attraction to Adam Baldwin though lol

I am not intentionally trying to seem hostile. I have no ill will towards you. I am simply giving reason to my arguments and my opinions.

Judging by the posts you seem pretty hostile as of late. Can you remind me again why you are opposing the gay romance option if you don't have any ill will towards gay community or those interested in having bi/homosexual romance option? What exactly is your problem with gay romances?

When did I say I opposed the gay romance option? I never said such a thing, nor believe such a thing, nor do I have any ill will towards the gay community.

If the argument is backed with resource issue (which I hope it is not) it has been pointed out multiple times that they have spent at least some resources on gay romances already but for some reason didn't release the game with one. That's worse than not developing one at all, right?

I consider storytelling and writing to the be most important, over filling a romance quota. As it so happens, aside from some female characters, all of the characters in Mass Effect are heterosexual. Sexuality isn't exactly a light switch.

I think in the end it has a lot to do with some people just not wanting a gay romance because of some personal values/issues. I can't really relate to those issues too much since I've hard time seeing bi- or homosexuals as anything out of ordinary - I mean that's like admitting there's something wrong with me and I don't think that's the case, but hey, I think there's something wrong with people who have problem with homosexual relationships so perhaps I'm a hypocrite? :D

I have no personal values or beliefs that in any way run contrast to homosexual relations. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I have seen people argue against homosexuality on the basis of biology (often intermixed with religion) - that homosexuality does not produce children, that it is evolutionarily worthless. They are forgetting one thing, however, one can contribute to human society without producing children. human civilization is what facilitated our great technology, one cannot say that producing a single child was more important than Einstein and his scientific theories.

In fact, producing too many children can strain a country's resources.

Okay, I'll admit Kaidan could be a bit wet sometimes, but I like to label that 'sensitive' hehe.

Joker is awesome, but I'd rather go for a drink with him than jump his bones ... and break them.

Collider - the thing about time and money on missions/storytelling over romance quotas is all well and good, but the point many of us have been making is that hetero romance options have increased in ME2, and the addition of Tali and Garrus appear to have been at the behest of fans wanting to see that content ... I think what most of us would have preferred to see is a bi/gay option in there in lieu of perhaps 1 of the current romance options. That wouldn't have meant any more writing or money than they already spent to give us what is currently there.

Checked the wiki article; seems that you were right - I latched to the "dead" part of the conversation too much.

Indeed it's not - it's a sliding scale. It's perfectly possible that some characters are bisexual but closeted. Personally I would think that making an existing male character a M/M option would be economically more feasible than adding in an entirely new character, as it saves time and money in designing the character, inserting them into the story and writing and acting lines for them. Ofcourse if there are entirely new options in ME3 those can be utilized the same way ofcourse, but I see no issue plotwise in expanding some existing character's preferences, either.

The demand for Tali and Garrus was larger than the demand for M/M options.

The bisexual and gay community are a minority of the Mass Effect player base.

Exactly.  Having relations with members of the opposite sex does not neccessarily make you heterosexual.
