You seriously don't think that people HAVE to tell the object of their crush that they're interested in them? Not to mention, people can develop interest over time, it does not need to be immediate.Collider wrote...
Uh, yes it does. If it isn't in the game, then in a practical sense, they are not attracted to the same gender.Ninja Mage wrote...
Only because they specifically removed the option to romance them as the same gender, it has nothing to do with Tali or Garrus liking the same sex or not.

I'm sure Bioware wouldn't underestimate the ingenuity of it's PC players like that.

This is evidenced by the fact that Tali has FemShep voice files in the game for a romance.
She still sounds very flustered in that "sharing the suits"-part, and FemShep sounds positively flirty. There could still be development in that direction, if the writers are so inclined.
I totally agree ^^; Tali does not act like she's "in no way interested at all" there. ^^

Plus there was already that vid of Grunt/Garrus floating around.

I think part of the retconning vs. adding debate comes down to personal interpretation of what constistutes an "established story".
My brain has been preprogrammed by comics to acknowledge multiple realities. For me every playthrough is a different version of Shepard's story. My first playthrough Shepard didn't meet Zaeed until halfway through his mission because that's when I got around to DLing him. In my second playthrough he was the first person who got recruited because he was waiting for me on Omega. I don't see this as a change to the story of my first playthrough, I see it as a different version of the story. I intend to do a number of things differently this time around, to me that changes nothing about how it was done the first time. That story will always be that story, anything new will be another story entirely.

I'm focusing on 2 which is still early enough in it's release that many things can be patched in. I assume the Hammerhead will be usable through the entire game once it comes out. Same with Kasumi. Technically they would both be retconning for anyone who has already finished 1 playthrough.
I seem to have missed a good deal of fun in my time away.

Hmmm... I can see this. The story does change with every new playthrough, and adding in same sex content (with the existing characters) would just be another version of the story. It would allow for more stories too, allow for more playthroughs. I like this point.

It's a biological norm, and the point is that you'd better get used to it. The world is not going to be restructured according to gay interests.biddypocket wrote...
1) Norm? yes. Who creates norms? Society. What's your point?
Almost everyone is heterosexual, and almost everyone is assumed to be heterosexual. This is simply a fact.2) "default" ? Are you trying to say that everyone starts off heterosexual? There's millions who would disagree
Heterosexuality is a prerequisite for our existence.3) "basis of human life" ? Last time I checked, it was the unification of sperm and egg...which can be done in a testtube these days. *shrug* no one ever said you had to be heterosexual to make babies...and what about bisexuals?
Anyway, stop whining.

I like that. That's how I see it too. My first playthrough I got Mordin first but on my second I went and picked up Grunt, then Jack, Garrus, then Mordin. I like the changes, it makes it feel like a different game each playthrough.

What is this about the world? We're talking about a game and players' choice in said game. Adding same sex romances increases a player's ability to tailor the story to their liking (which is a big selling point in BioWare games) and would make the game more fun for many players (a lot more than the gay players and players on this board). It's BioWare making money for themselves and giving fans more ways to play; why is that bad?

I have to disagree with you. Just about 60 years ago it was the "norm" to have segregated bathrooms for blacks and whites. It was the "norm" that you'd have to marry your own race. Look how society is changing. I don't think gay people want more rights than anyone else has, they just want equal rights and to freely choose how they want to live their life
btw how are people straying so far from the original topic? This is a debate about gay romances in MASS EFFECT not the world, lol.

Well then, it's a good thing this thread is not asking it to, yeah?
As far as I know, the only thing we're doing is letting Bioware know that there is a segment of their audience that would appreciate same-sex romance options, were they to find themselves considering such content.

Again, this is a subjective interpretation, which is as valid as any other, mind you. Personaly, I interpreted it as a sign of great trust and friendship and went all 'awww' when she proposed to share a suit. I am among those who get the big sister/little sister vibe from her. And I'm actually female, playing a FemShep and far from straight myself. While I would welcome it if Tali became a LI option in ME3 for femShep, I must say I am also against any patch that would modify the current characters in ME2 so drastically. I find this rather... inelegant. As if that was just an after-thought. BW has made decisions for ME2 and they should abide by them. Everything is open for ME3 though, and I hope they will make M/M and F/F relationships possible in the future game.
The only patch I would really welcome with open arms is one that would fix all the bugs that plague the game like a rat infestation in a cheese factory. That said, I would most likely and very hypocritely dowload it if Bioware released a "gay romance patch"

You and two thirds of the haters probably. People will complain up and down and go on and on about how changing something ruins the game; like what happened with the ammo thing. I guess once all of them went out and got the game, they knew how much they were not going to like it.

The ammo thing? What ammo thing? Sorry, but I truly don't know what you are refering to and would like it if you could explain to me, so that I can comprehend where the comparison lies. As far as the game goes, I don't find myself bothered by the ammos and I haven't seen any topic about that, but then, I don't check all the topics on this forum, so it would be easy for me to miss it.
Oh and hater is too strong a word, disagreeing to something doesn't mean hating it.
