For those of you playing on insanity, how often do your squadmates die? Do you revive them every time they go down? What do you do to keep them alive?

Also, my current Shep is a lvl 30 Infiltrator on 2nd playthrough with a cookie-cutter build (4/4 incin, cloak, passive, ArP ammo, disruptor ammo).  I am also using the Widow of course.  My question is: how many shots does it take for you to down a Krogan?  It is seems to take me at least 2-3 shots to take down the armor (I use incin to take the armor but sometimes I need to down them asap from a distance before I can take down the armor) and still another 2 to bring down their health.  Is this normal for you as well?

They die often enough that I do the stomping on my own. Actually, it appears for me that the snipers are more useful -- Grunt, as a Pureblood is my main cannon fodder.

Funny enough, I never use characters that compliment my own, rather, what I expect to encounter. That said, Jacob feels the most utterly useless... but I only bring them back when there's enough fighting needing to be done. When there's plenty of enemies, yeah -- sure, bring 'em right back. Fully upgraded Unity restores health and shield for the second party member as well so there's no real reason to wait for both to be dead... medi-gel is plentiful enough but I suppose if your guys are dying often enough that you run into a shortage of it then it's probably best that you go lone-wolf on it.

The trick to having them not die is to give them a command to get to cover in a place that will be safe for most of the fight. To make the most of them, constantly order them where to take cover. If you do that, they won't die too often.

Mine don't die to often, because I do normally send them to cover. I will revive them if they get wasted early in the fight. However if they die after the fight has been going on for a while, then I'll just finish off the wave myself. No sense in wasting a Medi-Gel if there is only 1-2 baddies to kill.

I normally use Grunt/Miranda with my Infiltrator. Grunt is usually the front line cover, with Miranda mid-range, and me sniping long range of course.

As far as the Krogan are concerned, I am using a fully upgraded Widow and that sounds about the right number of shots. Currently I use Barrier/Geth Shield/Fortification for defensive purposes, but you might want to switch to AP Bonus talent if you know you are going to be facing a lot of Krogan.

Well, on this 2nd playthrough using my lvl 30 Infiltrator, you don't continue with any of the upgrades from the previous playthrough, just the weapons.  It is still early for me (just finished Omega) so I guess theres still much that I can improve damage-wise.

I am also using Tungsten ammo.  I tried warp ammo after hearing about how awesome it is.  It is not awesome at all.  Very disappointing in fact and damn near useless.

Armor Piercing Ammo does 70% of your weapon's damage (assuming you go with Tungsten Ammo as opposed to Squad AP Ammo) while Warp Ammo only does 50%. Considering that even on Insanity difficulty the only enemies to use barriers are Collectors and some elite bosses, Armor Piercing Ammo is usually the superior choice.

No, cookie cutter build was. Haha.

Edit: I used to play and I never understood where the term Cookie cutter came from. I was always amused with it though.

mine die often mainly because they are too stupid if i leave them they stand in the open if i send the to cover sometimes they just stand up and die

wether to res them or not depends on the fight and how things are going tbh just ask yourself can i do this on my own? if it's your second playthrough you should know whats coming and how long till it's clear for them to get up on their own
