So, out of curiousity, is there any way at all to keep a romance with Alastair if he's chosen as king? Also, has anyone supported Anora, and if so, what happens?

I just supported her after finding out the disastrous ending if you let Alistair be king. Pretty much the same thing happens... So, uh... I'm fairly disappointed atm

edit: If anyone knows if you can keep Alistair if you declare your support for the queen when you first have the chance, I'd be very appreciative. I dun't wanna lose my warden :(

In my playthrough, he ended up as a bitter drunk with no friends. I almost felt bad.

Spoilers abound:

Yes, you can keep your romance with Alistair after Landsmeet. I had him at 100% and had already slept with him back at camp, and he swore he would "never leave me, ever." Another time (I've replayed the ending twice now) I hadn't slept with him and had him at about 80% and he "broke up" with me and wouldn't restart the romance for anything, citing that Grey Wardens couldn't have kids and he needed an heir. At my funeral, he referred to me as his dearest friend but that was it. In the 100% one, I went with Morrigan's offer and became Queen and everyone lived happily ever after.

Personally, I wouldn't go to the Landsmeet until you have Alistair at 100%, but that may simply be because I'm a little bitter about being dumped 2 days before I have to lead the country against the darkspawn. >.< No wonder my girl sacrificed herself...Morrigan left because I was still bitter and jealous and wouldn't let her sleep with my ex to give her a dark demon-god child, and Alistair broke up with me because he became king, something which I chose for him. I think that would drive anyone to suicide.

Also, support killing Loghain at the Landsmeet to get some bonus with Alistair there, too.

I haven't supported Anora yet, not have I suggested she marry Alistair. Damnit, my character is a bit jealous, leave her alone. XD

I (noble female) got Alistair to agree to be King.

Tonight, I am going to sacrifice MYSELF so that I can leave the Kingdom in the hands of a good man instead of crazy wicked Anora. Pity. I was looking forward to being Queen of something.

By all the demons in the fade I swear I shall mod in an alternate ending for wimmins. Or I will hound someone who is capable of such an mod to do it. So help me Maferath.

I am not happy about it- since I could very easily have shagged Morrigan and married Anora and become King if I were a dude.

You CAN be Queen--you just have to let Morrigan sleep with Alistair. He won't be happy initally, and he'll **** about in the epilogue how he has a demon-bastard-spawn running around that he's worried about, but in my opinion it's better than dying. At least that ending is happier.

Thanks for the info, Jakia:)

Quick question, though, for anyone - what if you're not a member of the nobility? If my character is a human mage, and I choose to support Anora, can I still keep Alistair's romance after that or is it over?  Anyone know?

So you think having demon spawn running around that will inevitably come back in 30-40 years and screw the world up, is better than 1 person dying?

For the moment?  Yes.  My character went through a lot of crap in the game--she deserve a happy ending, even if it only lasts for a few decades.  The other ending I got just left me feeling like crap--I'd rather deal with the demon-spawn in the sequel and have closure now than just being left with a real downer ending.

Jakia, if you read the books- you would have gotten the impression no one in Ferelden ever really has a real happy ending. It is always bittersweet, and sometimes just bitter.

It is wierd that Alistair can be convinced into siring a demonspawn, but not okay with accepting Teryn De..I mean Teryn Loghain into the team. How better to punish Loghain than to force HIM to become a Grey Warden and THEN bed an apostate?

The irony would be delicious. But more so the paranoia of Loghain and the problems it caused merits a more hardcore resolution than choose death or Grey Warden. Hell, you could make a redemptive arc where Loghain decides to deliver the killing blow at atonement, so that the Grey Wardens who he made so miserable can have at least 30 years of happiness (give or take) after the HELL they went through.

Oh good I really want my character to become queen with Alistair, I guess i'll HAVE to let Morrigan sleep with him *sigh*

I already got the I love you and i'll never ever leave you bits before I even did the last treaty so I think i'm good there.

I wonder how the populace will take to having an elven mage queen? lol

Quick question (sorry about the double post)

If you let nora be Queen, can you still end up with Alistair in the end?

Yeah you can end up with Alistair, I think I read about it somewhere, but basicly when you are in the Arl's castle, you do all quests up until Landsmeet, then and first then you talk to Anora, and you agree on her becoming a queen, and ally... even if Alistair kills Loghain, she will let him go and you two set off to do whatever you do, and return Duncans shield etc.

Oh that sux.. just read this thread and now I don't want to romance him anymore... WAH why would i want to let him sleep with Morrigan!

Is there any way to let him be a king, become his queen and not have Morrigan involved?.oh and have a cake too :D

Anyway to kill that **** Morrigan ? :)

I am so disapointed... don't even feel like continuing main quest now..

lol well next play through as human noble Anora will be crowned queen, at least that way it doesnt matter if Alistar doesnt have an heir and we can spend the next thirty years happily roaming th coutry side...what i dont get though is WHY he ouldn be able to have an heir I mean sure, the dark spwan taint will eventually kill you but that shouldnt affect your capacty to copulate...should it?

There is a twist.

A remarkably cruel twist.

its because its in the blood. you'd end up with a tainted baby plus a double hit with both parents being Grey Wardens.. I still think Alistair is my favorite hes just so cute and charming Posted Image and i dont want him sleeping with that witch *sigh* oh the choices

Wait for the inevitible mod that allows Alistair to be convinced into letting Loghain become a Grey Warden and not leave the party. That way, we can make Loghain do all the dirty work.

I am so disapointed... don't even feel like continuing main quest now..

I hear you. The most adorable male romanceable ever provided, and such a tragic one.

If you are a guy, however- you can avoid 90% of the bad things. And yet be King.

Which 90% are those?  Morrigan dumps your sorry butt no matter what you choose.  If you're romancing Leliana, you have to cheat on her to survive.  Same with Zevran.  And you can have a loveless marriage with Anora.  So, yeah, that's great if you're playing a jerk.   Nice guys don't get any happier endings than the nice girls do.

How do you get the option to marry anora? I didn't exactly save at every point and re-do the conversations

If all the romances end tragically, then I have a question... Why bioware? Couldn't you give us at least one happy end instead of all of them ending in disaster.

not all of them end tragically, Leliana and I traveled the world in a quite happy ending. I told Morrigan to sod off and had Loghain redeem himself by killing the Archdemon, about as happy as i could imagine that turning out... besides Alistair becoming a drunk i guess...

And if you want to become queen in the end you have to be noble im guesing either dwarven of human cos when i picked the optio he said that couldnt happen cos i wasnt a noble (elf mage) so that sucks, i'll have to play through again to see if it works...

yikes!  please, please don't say this...i'm a city elf duelist rogue--it would kind of suck to not even be allowed a shot at the marginally happy ending just because i'm a commoner.  :(  can anyone confirm this?   upthread i see someone saying they got the morrigan ending with her mage--i'm confused!
