I think that Bioware may have foreseen this, and would maybe not have used the term "favourite" when they first started revealing facts about Awakening, since that term is indeed utterly subjective. I went with Morrigan as my LI on my very first playthrough, but I perceive her as far too harsh for my taste when you get "closer" to her. Leliana is much more to my taste, and I would consider it a great blowback for the expansion if you can't bring her. The only way I could accept that, is if they reveal that your other companions from Origins will team up with you again in a future expansion. I never liked Oghren, and never use him in my party, he is "witty" but that's about it. My party always consists of me, human warrior sword+shield, Alistair, 2h warrior respecced, Leliana, dw rogue, and Wynne, healer. And can someone please tell me why it seems Bioware find it necessary to not allow love interests to continue in expansions/sequels? I had Liara T'Soni as LI in ME, but to get to continue it in ME2 was just to forget. I understand the need to introduce new characters for fresh content, but I also think the player's experience playing the game could be just as valuable and of as high quality if the LI characters where included in expansions/sequels too.

I had the same troubles in ME, romancing Liara.. and this is the reason for I fear we will see the same thing even in DAO.. Btw.. I'd like to have an answer to your question  too, because I never understood this choice, considering the enormous achievement they have with romances.. Ok... there are many people who don't care about romance but..  just look at this forums (or look at any other forums in the world concerning ME or DAO).. and you will see that near half of the treads are dedicated to romances.. and topics concerning romances usally have tons of posts and replies.. This means that most of the players really love their romances.. So my question is like yours..."Bioware.. Why?"

Seems some of us will have a bit of a storyline problem if Oghren returns in awakening and I killed his ass in Origins does it not? Dev. might want to get on that.

Who do they bring back? Players love their romance but which one, there are four possible options in DA. Two of which IMO are no longer viable options for the expansion-1) Allistair will be returning as the King and 2) Morrigan who I believe will figure prominently in DA2.

So that leaves Leliana and Zevran as the remaining romance options, if they bring back either one they will alienate the players who choose the other one as their romance. So they don't bring back any of the romance characters and while players may be upset they are not totally pissed off that their romance character did not come back.

I like the idea that the characters go off at the start of Awakening to search for Morrigan for you. And that for DA2 the potential for a reunion with everyone exists and in DA2 your romance can continue, unless of course you romance someone new in Awakening and add some more tough choices to the game.

I changed my mind Im glad Oghren back now Leliana can focus on raising our kids and Oghren can carry that sh#t load of lyrium for me and Anders. Dwarfs are immune to it right.lol

That almost nobody likes? Seriously? I have no problem with people hating on Oghren. He's an extreme personality. I love him, you hate him. But all these Oghren threads prove one thing... he does have a good amount of fans. I'm sick of people saying he has no fans... what are you hoping for? The devs to see your post and say to themselves, "this Kanobi fella says he has no fans... well then why are we putting him in?" It's not true, it's a slap in the face of those who like him, and it's old.

You don't like it fine, but at least acknowledge the fact many others do.

That said, I wasn't a HUGE leliana fan. She was ok, but I'm doubting she'll ever return in a role any bigger then a cameo. That is the fate of romancible or easily killed characters.

This "easily killable" argument is total BS. A character is either KILLABLE or UNKILLABLE. Just like there are games where Leliana is dead, there will be games where Oghren is dead and the devs will have to deal with it somehow. How easy or hard is to kill him is completely unrelated.

He...won't...come...back...he...will...stay...dead... I think this is pretty much clear.

It's up to you, whether she's in or not. You choose the one Charakter out oft your Companions (dependend on your prior decisions in the storyline), who stays with you.

I sure hope you're right Elave... I sure hope you're right. If not, you can be sure of one thing: Oghren will be sleeping with the fishes when I import my save into Awakening. That alcohol-abusing dwarf bastard.

Gaider mentioned in the past they cannot afford to make all companions come back. We must accept that we'll potentially get disappointed. Which means, it could not be Oghren. And besides, this is a Leliana thread, is it not?
