This has to be the most bland character Bioware ever created, did they not have time or something?
The first time I met him on Omega I thought `huh? who the hell are you supposed to be?`  No build up, nothing!
He came out of nowhere, you cant even talk to him on the ship like a normal crew member... old washed up geezer thinking he's tough...

The only thing I did like was how his victim grovels before Zaeed kills him.

To encourage you to buy the game new, get onto the Cerberus Network, and download free stuff!

His loyalty mission is pretty cool at least. Nice to see a mission where you can stop to save people or you can catch the bad guy, not both.

I liked Zaeed okay...I didn't really even mind that you couldn't talk to him...least I didn't have to worry about him hitting on Femshep at every turn. He's great as a squad member and his comments are pretty good...really liked his response when recruiting Samara when you talk to the volus who is high on red sand.

I really like him, and his personal mission. In combat once he's loyal he's very useful with the grenades. The comments he makes to the merc recruiter is great, too. I enjoyed his stories on board the Normandy as well.

Very good character. If you dislike bland why arent you complaining about Jacob? Good loyalty but otherwise... ;s

Zaeed's loyalty is great and he is interesting in other missions. Really cool watching him argue with Mordin on Mordin's loyalty.

Zaeed is definetily a great character, with interesting stories, and one of the best voice acting(too bad he's just a DLC). Personally I would like to see more of him, but I don't think that is going to happen since a lot of people hate him. It's too bad Bioware didn't put more time into him. I would have liked to see more involvement from him in the story, not just the "Cerberus paid me to help you" bit.

Q: Why is Zaeed in the game?
A: To make Bioware seem extra cool.
Really though he's not bad. Still would've rather had some Batarian for squadmate DLC.

Personaly, i don't think that Zaeed was bad, just underdeveloped. It would be nice if they let you talk to him for one.

I don't know if anyone hear will admit to watching Spongebob Squarepants but if anyone remembers the episode where the driving teacher Ms. Puff gets replaced by the hardcore shark.  The same voice acter did the shark as did Zaeed.  Look it up on IMDB.  "Would anyone care for a bon bon?"

Thats no excuse, Shale was a great DLC character.

Shale was originaly going to be part of the game... they took her out... then found they had time to reincoporate her (in the form of dlc).  Zaed was developed as an additional character to be downloaded as a bonus for those who bought the game new.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed the bonus dialogue he gets. In the Garrus recruitment mission, if you take him, he will have some back and forth with the Blue Suns leader Tarak.

Yeah, but Shale was actually designed to be in the original game. The only reason she was cut was because they couldn't get her model working correctly - all the dialogue relating to her had been recorded by all the other squadmates and NPCs. When DA:O was delayed for 6 months, they had time to fix her model and record her own lines and then release as DLC. The reason why she fits so well is because she was written like any other character.

Zaeed is clearly different. Shepard doesn't even have any lines with which to converse with him. He's clearly been designed as DLC from the beginning. Maybe the ME2 team saw how the Shale DLC worked and decided to emulate it.

hes like shepard, but takes checks!

what other justification do you need?

besides his inferno grenade is fun and his one liners are gold. he has proven his usefulness as a party member more than a couple times in my games.

Zaeed is actually quite chatty when you bring him on missions or just sightseeing in Citadel/Illium etc

I think he's pretty good, nothing amazing. Yeah you can't 'talk' to him the normal way but he still says a lot of stuff, just without the dialogue wheel basically.

I do hope they step it up for any future DLC party member(s).

Hmmmm, I honestly love Zaeed. One of my favorite squaddies.

He is almost the perfect match for my renegade Shep so I nearly always take him with me on nearly every mission.

Zaeed is pretty freakin awesome. I loved him after the loyalty mission and I went the paragon route (still got his loyality :D ).

The fact that his voice is done by the guy who did Lord Harrowmont in DA makes him even cooler in my book.

Its a shame you can't have dialog with him.

Its odd I like him a fair bit, but Jack not so much. And I feel like they are both in the "trying to be edgy " territory. Maybe it feels like Zaeed stops at like the 75% edgyness whereas Jack goes all the way?

I dont mind the cliché mercanary 'badass' approach, I will take it over the Carth approach anyday, I guess i shoudent have expected something other than a two dimensional character from a free DLC.

Zaeed is a mercenary. He won't tell about his family problem or anything. He just tell his war stories and gives little advices here and there.
