Does doing this with Kelly count as cheating on your ME1 love interest? Kelly’s a free spirit, and as such can be more of a bed buddy, hence why “romancing” her doesn’t turn down the picture frame on your desk, or get in the way of your romancing any of the main ME2 love interests. Will this affect anything in ME3? Well, we haven’t made the game yet, but the fact that you had Kelly up to your cabin is in your save game.
Thats enough to scare me off doing it for my ME2 export with Liara. XD I can just imagine the conversation that comes out of it...
"Have you been faithful, Shepard?"
"Of course, Liara. You're the only one for me."
"Then what about the redhead that was in your cabin, in the recordings that Cerberus sent to me."
"Ah. That was Yeoman Chambers, my PA. She feeds my fish."
"Do humans feed fish by dancing?"

All you evil, heartless SOBs at Bioware got a good chuckle out of this scene, didn't you? DIDN'T YOU?!
Poor Kelley. Here, here, baby. It'll be alright. Dance for daddy s'more.
Wait...what? :innocent:

Or if they do, I demand a Renegade Interrupt. Preferably with a Big Frakking Gun.

But really, having dinner and having her feed your fish will not interfere with your true LI, will it?

this is what sorta makes me glad that after my first Shep, I've been friend zoning her.
yeah I'm loyal to Liara still...The very reason Shep is alive at all is because of her.
Too bad I have a thing with staying loyal, that Paramor Achievment is gonna be tough, may have to start a ME! run again just to have a single shep >.>

How can Kelly count as cheating anyways? There's absolutely nothing in Kaidan's / Ashley's / and especially Liara's dialogue that implies the relationship still exists in any real fashion. <_<
Can Liara really get upset at this? I went to see her on Illium and she had nothing to say about our relationship, so what am I supposed to think? :innocent:
Well, Ash sends that email.
Of course, Ash didn't trust me on Horizon even though I saved her from being abducted by the collectors. She's got exactly no justification to complain about my choice in bed warmer.

Good luck on that one! make sure to NEVER talk to Liara or Ashley separately or they will get the wrong idea. Sticking them in the attic is the only message they get.

If I had romanced Ash? I would totally be there with you. However, I was referring to the previous comments about only getting a chaste kiss from Liara and words. Still, I was just poking fun... its not like Liara voiced a problem with the idea of Ashley joining them in ME1. So I imagine a free spirit like Kelly might be welcome... if I wish hard enough.

I really don't know about Liara since I never romanced her, but as for Ashley/Kaidan, the question of the relationship is still in the air by both parties (them and Shepard). The ME1 character is shocked that Shepard never bothered to track them down to say they're alive and Horizon is how they had to be reunited. (I tried to find Kaidan on Citadel and went on quite a few missions before I finally saw him again so I did not begrudge his reaction at all because that is the scene that the game forced our characters into.) They're upset because not only is Shepard back, Shepard is working for the enemy now. It's a lot to absorb and frankly, they yell because they care. The follow-up email shows regret and some hope that maybe Shepard might feel the same way once the Collectors are taken care of. The email leaves a lot of room for interpretation, but nothing on Horizon or in that email screamed that things were over either. The ball is in Shepard's court.Mystranna Kelteel wrote...

You can just be friends with Kelly, and still have dinner with her. She'll be a friend and feed your fish. But if she sends that email, then she's got ideas about being more than just friends. If you call her up after reading that email, seems to me that you've got similar ideas. And earlier, if you said you'd embrace her, and later she asked if she was overstepping her bounds and you say you liked it, then what happened during that evening at dinner, hmmm?

Oh no... Liara's not going to let me hear the end of this... I only had dinner, but I may have been a bit flirty before that...

I was talking about Liara primarily. Liara doesn't get an email expressing her feelings, nor can I tell Kelly how I feel about Liara.
Kaidan and Ashley do address the romance, even if it's only a few small things.
But Liara? Nope. She says nothing about the romance; Shepard says nothing about the romance.

But that Shepard *would* like to be better friends with her and squeeze some sweet fish-feeding duties out of said friendship.

Assume I have been flirty and friendly to her, call her up for dinner and whatever happens, happens. And say I have Tali as a ME2 romance, can I still call up Kelly and feed my fish?

If you are flirty and agree with her when she asks if that is ok, you can eventualy take her to dinner.
But, if you romance a squaddie, it ends there. You don't get her to do dancing until you are not in any relationship.

While your comments certainly give me pause, I would really hate for BioWare to be too drastic in their interpretation of what something might mean. "Overstepping bounds" and "I liked it" could be almost anything.
I will agree that inviting her up to your room is pretty questionable, but everything up that is nothing more than some, perhaps, inappropriate flirting.
If you going to create a choice to do something as significant as be considered cheating, I think it needs to be spelled out just a bit more then leaving it to my imagination.
Not that you asked, of course.

Much appreciated, I always avoided the dinner option because I was afraid it would be considerd cheating on Tali, gladly it's not. Thank you.

You can also quit your romance after you have finished and the Kelly email will arrive and the Liara picture pop back up.
They need to rename this game "Peyton Place."

Well, they left it kinda open ...
You can play flirty, have dinner and pretend nothing happened, then start with Tali.
But on the other hand, you still did something to get her to feed your fish ... tricky isn't it?
