Oof. I have a friend who told me that he felt robbed with Liara since she was his LI, but I remembered thinking at least he got to see more of her and do a couple quests for her. Didn't realize there was a lack of email. Yeah, that's harsh if the above is how it plays out. (Liara gets points for helping to find Shepard's body.)Mystranna Kelteel wrote...
I was talking about Liara primarily. Liara doesn't get an email expressing her feelings, nor can I tell Kelly how I feel about Liara.
Kaidan and Ashley do address the romance, even if it's only a few small things.
But Liara? Nope. She says nothing about the romance; Shepard says nothing about the romance.

Does doing this with Kelly count as cheating on your ME1 love interest? Kelly’s a free spirit, and as such can be more of a bed buddy, hence why “romancing” her doesn’t turn down the picture frame on your desk, or get in the way of your romancing any of the main ME2 love interests. Will this affect anything in ME3? Well, we haven’t made the game yet, but the fact that you had Kelly up to your cabin is in your save game.
Heh I suspect this little tidbit will get people panicing.
/shrug You can do a speed run of this game in like 4 hours. Can always get a save without even talking to her fairly easily.

Perfect. For the friend route, that is exactly what it was.
Phew, now I can relax. It's like pulling the truth from a riddler lol.

Maybe in ME3 player would find out - IF ME1 LI finds out too - that there was someone else with their "love" during ME2 and thus the player would have the option to try to "fix and make it work again" with ME1 LI or continue with ME2 LI. Maybe ME2 LI would feel somewhat insecure, assuming that ME1 LI would become more active and would join Shepard again in ME3 so you'd have to "fortify" your relationship with ME2 LI as well. Many choices, I just hope that Bioware will do something good and interesting, instead of lame ("Check IF Flag PlayerHadNewLIME2=Yes THEN ME1LIRomance=Bust AND ME1LI Comment "Dammit Shepard, you were wading through someone else's swamp when I was away!") thingie...

I agree. In YOUR game more could have happened during that fade-to-black, but we wouldn't assume that to be the case with respect to how it may or may not affect anything in ME3. What happened during dinner is between you and Kelly.
And NO, I am not implying anything about what might happen in ME3. We haven't even started working on smaller details. Will Kelly even be in ME3 or not? I don't know. A big part of what guides us is the feedback and telemetry of what players find popular.

Dusty, just a question about the telemetry BW is collecting about our playthroughs. Will it only take note solely if a player has completed the paramour achievement and who the ME2 LI was, or will it take into account for multiple playthroughs where different characters have either remained faithful to their ME1 LI or pursued someone like Kelly (and hence analyse the many different final save files produced)?
It's just that it leaves me a little paranoid about trying different ME2 playthroughs with my various imported Sheps with the possibility a LI might be left out in ME3.

Post credits you can invite your LI or Kelly up to your cabin at any time. Nothing really changes, so I don't know if you'd want to do it more than once...
The three dots after "more than once" are priceless

I heard someone say it has to be your 2nd playthrough or it won't work, is that true? if so, your 2nd playthrough with that Shepard or any of your Shepards?
I'm not sure what is going wrong, but i've followed each step 1-10 to the letter and she still won't send me an email. AGH!!! it's become more of a mission than i wanted it to. i'd start a new game (since i kinda want to anyway), but i'm afraid it "won't work" again........i'd freak out man.........
maybe there is a definitive guide out there somewhere?

If you cannot romance Kelly until after you played through once...wouldn't you have a save game to import into ME3 before the Kelly romance and then one after the Kelly romance?
of course, my ME1 save games didn't work so well I don't think.
and i really wish someone would answer this guy's questions too because i don't personally know how to answer them either.

HAGA, I don't know of any way to romance Kelly prior to the Kelly collector station. I do know that you can romance Kelly after you beat the game. You don't import a character, you just keep going from after the end.
oh ok, i thought i remembered hearing some people say it wouldn't work unless it was your 2nd playthrough in the game. i thought maybe that was my problem.
i still don't understand why i'm not getting the email. I've utterly exhausted the dialogues with Thane, Garrus & Jacob and clearly did not romance any of them. Everyone survived the last mission. I've flirted with Kelly the entire game, we had dinner, she fed my fish, blah blah blah and talked to her after the End Mission. I basically did everything in the List (1-10) that Dusty Everman was kind enough to post on page 1. i'm quite sure i missed nothing.
I've even reloaded a save from earlier in the game (about 8 hours prior save) to make sure i didn't miss anything. still no email. the only thing i can think of is that you have to exhaust the squad dialogue with every single crew member or something. it's all very frustrating.

The only requirement with respect to other squad members is that your don't have a fully active romance with them. If you can't dump them, (i.e. get the conversation where you say you've changed your mind), then you don't have a fully active romance with them.
I haven't seen a verified bug related to this except for the spamming of email once you get it (to be fixed in a future DLC). The list I gave before are all the requirements, so I'm not sure why you aren't getting the email. One thing I didn't specifically mention is that you need to say that you came for her when you save her in the Collector base. If you tell the crew you didn't come for them, Kelly takes a bit of offense (a line that goes something like "Well, our lives matter to me!").
IThis wasn't meant to be frustrating. It was meant to be a fun Easter egg.

Indeed. You might have to leave the Normandy and come back to get it to trigger, but it definitely works.

First off thanks. i appreciate you taking the time to reply. i really don't understand what happened. I play full paragon everytime (call me a wuss, but i can't handle being mean in ME). so, i definitely did the "no one gets left behind" comment to Chakwas. i was totally in Kelly's face the whole game warming up to/flirting with her until she had nothing left to say about it. no romances with anyone whatsoever. everything played out in accordance with you 1-10 list including the "no one gets left behind" comment.
At this point i would really welcome email spams from Kelly. maybe i'll try again when i play through down the road. i don't know if i could handle playing it through again right now and having the same thing happen.

I think you guys (Dusty, Bioware) would be smart to really expand and deliver on the emotional resolution of these romance options. I can't think of another game that has ever come close.

Well, there is a little wiggle room. At that moment her attraction went down instead of going up, but you must have done nearly every single other positive thing so that she forgave you. It's a double hit though. Not only does she lose attraction to you, but you miss out on an opportunity to gain attraction.

man! i can't imagine my attraction gain wasn't high enough. maybe depending on "when" in the game you talk to her depends on how high a level of attraction you gain?
can you go through the game and never talk to any squadmates (except for loyalty missions), go through all the Kelly stuff correctly and get it to work? cause i really think my problem is squad related on my end somehow. i can't imagine it being something else. i've conversed with Kelly to the letter and no one died on end mission. she should be all over me.

Shep's a hound. ^^ (replaying both games, but keeping this save game, just to see what happens in ME 3, I'll go single till Jack in my final play through though and keep true to her)
Edit: I wonder if I can end it with Tali on my 'playboy bastard' save and get Kelly too. 5 out of 5!
