I bought the game yesterday and due to my power suplly being only 500wts it will shut off after heavy graphics. The way I got around this was to unplug my cd/dvd from the power supply. I only played MMO's so this was not a problem only had to reconnect for any installations. This game wants the DVD in the player at startup so I have to have the hardware. I know this game is sold on download sites so I was wondering is there a way to play without the disc having to be in? Before anyone says I am using cracked software I am fully registered here so don't go there. Thanks.

Have you tried bypassing the launcher?

How do I bypass the launcher? Sorry if that is a stupid question, I have never done that.

try launching daorigins.exe inside the bin_ship folder in the Dragon Age installation folder.

Instead of the DAoriginsLauncher.Exe being where you start, you make a shortcut based on DAorigins.Exe.
The direct file is in the game's folder, in a sub-folder named bin-ship.

Just tried that, no dice. Guess I will have to buy a new power supply. Thanks.

There are hacked workarounds but, I would recommend buying a new powersupply for sure. CDROM when not spinning or reading should be drawing VERY little power. Which means you computer is way too close to the limits of the power supply if just hooking up a cdrom causes problems.
