You know, we can talk about blame, priorities and timelines all we want. But I also want you to understand our intentions. If we set priorities, particularly about developing a bug fix for one console before another, it's not because we have any favor toward one or the other. As it has been explained to me, it made sense within the project to resolve the issue that delayed RtO's final release on the Xbox first, so we would have some experience to refer back to when fixing it for the PS3. It's not bias, it'st just the way our development process worked best for this case.

Even if you do want to look at it from a corporate point of view, the PS3 delay for RtO also delays revenue to our company. And nobody likes that, right? We do want this out as soon as it can be, but we have to wait until we receive certification.

so when did you guys send it to cert and when do you think we can get an update?

Wait, don't go! Victor posted but didn't actually clarify... can someone please please please just make an "statement for dummies"?

All we want to know is:

1. Was the bug in the patch or in RTO itself?

2. Were the ps3 and 360 versions fixed at the same time?

3. Were the ps3 and 360 versions handed over to MS and Sony at the same time?

Those simple answers would put an end to the confusion. Even if any platform took precedence for any reason, being honest and upfront about it is the best way to avoid wild theories arising. Some people will think it is a conspiracy anyway, but those of us who are rational just want clear information, and we are not getting it when other platforms are. Is this too much to ask for?

it would also be nice to have the issues raised by myself, Fexelea and awesome_robot addressed are there particular reasons for these things because it seems to me that it causes some resentment.

I'm all for waiting for a good game,

Shigeru Miyamoto once said a good game will be great forever a bad game will bad forever.

He was talking about the time it took to get a Zelda game out and for the reasons for the delays that might acur.

Now I'm ok with waiting but I have to say this if Awaking is release before this is I think I'm going to sell my copy to Game stop. as I doubt support for the game will ever change.

Now I realize it can be Sony's fault or it could be Bioware. but Both of these companies should have known the time it take to get stuff out and plan for this.

As far as I remember the events, the team/person who was able to fix the bug on the 360 was also the one to fix it on the PS3. So, they first did the 360 and then did the PS3. That means that 2 (and most likely 3) were not at the same time.

Victor confirmed some of my suspicion. The development process is the key here. Since DA:O and RTO were developed on the PC (as are most BioWare games) it is easier for them to solve the PC problem which then carries over to the Xbox (which use the same family of microprocessors and Windows APIs). Simply easier to find the error. Once they had an idea of where the error occurs they can then look at the PS3 code and find that particular area to correct.

Keeping the PS3 owners informed could have saved a lot of frustration. Communication and a good explaination would have gone a long way.

Considering the misleading and contradictory statements made by Bioware... I would hesitate to blame Sony.

They also blame Sony for "giving them a choice" for dlc or disk with a PS3 version of Awakening - they chose dlc and it is "Sony's fault".

This sounds like Obsidian blaming Lucasarts for Kotor2... it is not good enough.

I hope your right i would much preffer Awakening as a DLC rather than a disc.

ANd Bioware is definitely NOT completley blamless in the delay.

Regarding the format for Awakenings, it's my understanding that, in North America, it will be disc-based. In the Europe and PAL zones, though, it will only be downloadable in nature.

So basically the complete fallout from the 2 weeks worth of lack of information and communication with the PC RTO when the 360 version got pulled, that they assured steps would be taken so it wouldn't happen again. Is now happening again for the PS3 users waiting for the PS3 version? Why am I so not suprised? Image IPB

let's keep our fingers crossed and hope its released soon. At this rate, it'll be released along with Awakening... assuming that product isn't pushed back as well for the PS3. It's all good though it will arrive whenever it arrives and that's that.

And while we're talking about the PS3 version, how about fixing the character portraits for the PS3? Note black square. Yes, I did the whole diagnostics thing, and was simply told it was a "known issue." I still say that PS3 players are being treated as an afterthought.

I had the same issue, try downloading the character creator for the PC and just doing it again there. That is how I managed to get my profile pic up.
