when you toggle the helmet off with N7 armor, you lose its ability (that makes sense) so if you took off the helmet for unique armor than you would lose a portion of its ability

if you asked me how to fix it id say wear your casual clothing out more and give us a better selection of that

Removeable helmets? Would love them. Will Bioware patch it? Probably. Soon? Well, define soon. Oh wait: Copyright 2004-2010 Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All rights reserved. "Soon" does not imply any particular date, time, decade, century, or millennia in the past, present, and certainly not the future. "Soon" shall make no contract or warranty between Blizzard Entertainment and the end user. "Soon" will arrive some day, Blizzard does guarantee that "soon" will be here before the end of time. Maybe. Do not make plans based on "soon" as Blizzard will not be liable for any misuse, use, or even casual glancing at "soon."

removable helmets FTW, i was so pissed off that my collectors and inferno armor helmets cant come off.

Why?  It's a silly and superficial toggle with no practical value what-so-ever.  To be that pissed off about anything so insubstantial really does not bode well for you.  :)

Anyway, it's not my favorite armor set but I'm certainly not going to be a twit and look a gift horse in the mouth.  It's free, it's fun, and something I very much appreciate.

Thanks Bioware!

Yeah, not gonna lie, I miss being able to turn helmets on and off whenever I wanted.
On the bright side, the armor is free. And epic. I like that.

I think it's nice that they're even making these armors for us, but I have to agree that they REALLY are shooting themselves in the foot by making the helmets mandatory. I can understand why they did it given the fact that the rest of the armor is not customizable, but the amount of work they put into the facial expressions this time around really just makes it impossible NOT to want to see your character's face. Oh well, I've played the game enough to have my fill of the facial expressions for the moment, so the helmet issue isn't bothering me as much as it initially did. However it's still a pretty large blemish on an otherwise wonderful gift.

Look at it this way. It's either spend more time and money making seperate models and feel it necessary to charge us to get some of that money back, or appreciate what they gave us. Remember they don't have to do this

That's like someone giving you a gameboy with Pokemon yellow in it and you saying "Hmph, I wanted Pokemon Red. BIOWARE SCREWED UP AGAIN"

Which is why I think that it's nice that they even thought to do this for us in the first place. However it was a big oversight for them to put so much into a model like this without realizing that people actually want to see their character's faces. That's all I'm really saying about the matter. *shrug* I won't damn them for going out of their way to give us a gift like this, but that doesn't mean I can't point out the fact that they were a tad short sighted when it came to implementing it.
That said, I'll enjoy the add-on armor I already have for what it's worth and move on at the end of the day.

How do you get new armor once you download it? Do you buy it at a store or what?

Go to the captians quarters on the Normandy and go to your armors. Move the topmost slider to the right

I'm on my 360 and I downloaded it not to long ago. I have since turned my xbox off and then back on but it is still not there...

I guess I will try again or do I need to do something on the main menu?

This reply is just to support the sentiment. I have five or six armors available in ME2, but as far as I'm concerned there are only two - the variants of the N7 armor.

I don't believe so. Verify that you've downloaded them properly and try going back to your armors.

Try moving every slider if possible, it might be your looking at the wrong thing

I downloaded it right and everything, but now that I think of it, this happened when I downloaded Zaed too.

I didn't get him in the campaign I was working on, but when I started a new campaign he was there...

Is this some wierd Xbox 360 problem or is my Xbox just retarded?

Personally I really like the new Cerberus armor, I think it looks very, very cool, though I do get the complaints the helmet can't come off, if given the option I'd like to remove it. How I deal with it is I will wear the Cerberus armor and Terminus armor in combat-heavy missions, then change to my L7 armor when going to locations where conversation is likely. That gives me a good mix of my various armor options, where I'm constantly changing my L7 armor appearance with virtually every different mission. I'm just grateful for some new armor, so I'm not complaining.

This thing was prolly made before the game was released, or very shortly after. So the complaints about the armor may have been too late.

We'll have to see what happens with bonus armor released in later DLC.

Eh, I just switch between the armors. Use the customizable one in places where you interact with people, and the whole sets on side missions, and during the Collector ship and Reaper explorations. Rule of thumb: if there's going to be dialogue and digital acting during the mission, take the N7 set without the helmet with you.

It's a free set of armor and a free shotgun. And your complaining? Shall I give you a free piece of gum but because it isn't extra sugary do you not want it? No probably not. Quit complaining. If you paid money for it then complain, but Bioware gave it to you guys for FREE. They aren't obligated to give you the ability to remove your helmet, paint it a different color and what not,

I did pay money for the game when I bought it. How many armors did that include? Yeah... there's a point. They NEED to fill the game with content to make it last.

Oh yes that makes perfect sense. How dare Bioware not give me the ability to remove a helmet. I clearly paid 60 dollars for that feature and not the 50+ hours of gameplay.

You petty fool, of course that is not the sole reason for purchase, I actually bought it because of what Mass Effect 1 was, and thought this was a sequel to it.

Since there was an option to toggle helmets on/off in ME1, it seems kind of strange that ME2 lacked the same option.

Although I wish it weren't so, it doesn't seem odd to me.  The armor is implemented in a completely different way than in ME1.  In ME2, each piece is interchangable and has stats associated with it, including the helmet.  In ME1 it only came in whole suits, and wearing the helmet or not didn't change the stats at all -- it was sheerly aesthetic.

The only helmets I like are: Blood Dragon armor, N7 variations, like one with breathe mask and recon hood.
Inferno armor and Cerberus armor helmets are lame, feels like a fishtank on the head.

edit: also Terminus armor, which I don't have :(

Though the Cerberus armor is better than Inferno, on the Inferno armor I was expecting a coin slot and a button to pour cold water from my helmet. I wasn't suprised to see a Volus walk up to me, insert a coin and walk off with a cool refreshing glass of water.

OI, seriously, OP. They said they'd add a new armor set and gun in this free DLC. Adding new content is totally different than adding a new feature. One is mostly art, the other is mostly code. It's like if someone gives you a cupcake and you say "but you didn't mow my lawn."

It did this with me on Zaeed, the normandy site, and the cerberus armour.:

Re-download it from the game menu.
Go back to the dashboard
THEN restart the game

It SHOULD be there,  fastest way to check, is to look at your private messages.

I agree with those of you who say it's really nice of Bioware to release new free armor. The thing is I do not use Collector's or Blood Dragon armor. And i highly doubt I will use Cerberus one either. :(

I like to see my character's face during cutscenes, so I always end up equipping N7 armor with helmet off (or with a visor on). So well... at least for me armor DLCs are somewhat pointless.

These threads are going to keep popping up forever.

Bioware can say as many times as it wants that it works as intended. However 'intended' use and 'practical' in game use are two separate things. If it really works, then why are there so many posts in regards to what gamers feel is a major issue.

Not just removable helmet; Why isn't every part of an armor seperate, like the default N7 armor is? Split every armor up into it's distinct parts and let us misch-mash. Obviously, split the bonuses up aswell.

These full cover-all-up armor sets and the fact that it's either that or walk around with an N7 plastered on my chest, even though I'm not Alliance Military anymore, makes me a sad panda.
