Yeah well it's over now, we're not getting a toggle.

Since there was an option to toggle helmets on/off in ME1, it seems kind of strange that ME2 lacked the same option.

Although I wish it weren't so, it doesn't seem odd to me.  The armor is implemented in a completely different way than in ME1.  In ME2, each piece is interchangable and has stats associated with it, including the helmet.  In ME1 it only came in whole suits, and wearing the helmet or not didn't change the stats at all -- it was sheerly aesthetic.

The problem is that that is only partially true. Only the N7 armor (at least so far, for me) is made up of distinct parts. All the other armors appear to be cast-iron mass-produced with interlocking pieces.

It's downright retarded. It completely ruins the point of the "New and improved!" armor system and removes any point to using the various armors. :(

These threads are going to keep popping up forever.

Bioware can say as many times as it wants that it works as intended. However 'intended' use and 'practical' in game use are two separate things. If it really works, then why are there so many posts in regards to what gamers feel is a major issue.

Those "many posts" represent what...a few dozen people? I give a damn that you can't remove the helmet on the DLC armors. If you don't like the DLC armor as it is, then don't use it. It's that simple.

I never begged.

It just feels kinda useless to be given something for "free" that I'm never ever going to use, because it doesn't mesh well with the other features of the game. It feels like one of those cheap ill-fitting ghetto-mods that are a dime a dozen for Fallout 3 or Oblivion.

You all know them. The mods that are nice, but doesn't actually go well with the rest of the game. I get the same kind of vibes from Zaeed(sp?), with him being some kind of user-made cheap companion, with his lack of dialogue and his stock-NPC-like interaction responses.

I mean, it's free. So it's still free. But that doesn't make it good or immune to critique. Between having something for free that is ****ty and having something for free that is good, I'd take the good. I'd even work to get it, if it was actually good, instead of ****ty. Which would somewhat make it not-free, but that's beside the point.

Away with the helmets, hooray for facial expressions.

Played through the game 3 times now, and I would have missed a lot of epic facial expressions had I been wearing a helmet at that time.

One thing that always bugs me about DA:O is that my helmets disappear in conversations... wtf? I'm sorry but you're not going to take your helmet off to have a chat unless you know you are 300% safe, have you guys ever seen Saving Private Ryan? (I think it's that one...) guy gets dinged in the helmet, takes it off and says "wow... this thing just saved my-" gets dinged in the head... dead.

Also in Starship Troopers during one of the training exercises, one of the troopers thinks their is something dodgy with his helmet begins discussing the issue to one of his colleagues, takes it off and boom gets headshot.

good thing in ME we have shields and getting shot in the face means extra damage and not an instant kill...really though our heroes would all be dead if it made sense in reality.

I like this post.  Don't really feel strongly one way or the other on the topic, just wanted to mention I was entertained. :D

I will say though, now that I am here, that all these DLC armors do seem rather out of place with the whole "new and improved" armor system and all its "customization" options.  I assume from a development stand point it must just be easier to design the suit as one piece instead of components like the N7 armor, so it is more of a corner-cutting / resource issue than it is an actual design choice.

It would have been really nice to have more than one set of armor to have played the game in, but at this point, now that I have already more or less finished the game I suppose one armor set I am never going to wear is as good as another.  I guess I just don't see the point in continuing to spend development time on it at all if it can't be done right.  I assume they have other DLC in the works that could better use the attention.

Seems like something they could patch in. Have faith!

Seems like they had the DLC in the pipe since before the core game was released.  It doesn't make sense that they could have responded to this request.

forget the facial expression, I just want more blinking lights on the helmet when you talk.

Definitely going to use the DLC armour when I make a male Shepard so I don't have to see his fugly face all the time.

For whatever it might be worth to BioWare, I too want to voice my agreement that I really, really want removable helmets.

In fact, you should go one step further and allow these (amazing!) armor sets to be broken down into components (helmet, shoulders, greaves, gauntlets, etc...) so that we can mix and match.

I say this because, as it stands right now, I don't use any of these armor suits because they hide my face. But I really, really want to wear them! They're great!

Jesus Christ OP, you couldn't sound more like a child if I had my cousin read what you posted, it's free for crying out loud, stop acting as though Bioware is going to tailor everything to your needs.

You can see shepherds face through the helmet. Isn't that a compromise?
