Title says it all, was gonna start a character and just take DPS and a Tank, avoiding Wynne and just using potions. Is it possible to do, I assume I would need Herbalism to make massive amounts of potions though lol
Possible to beat game with no Healer?

Potions are so overpowered considering you can make nearly an infinite amount for so cheap. It is very easy to pass the game without a healer simply by setting the tactic on all your party members to drink a potion if health is less than x %.
A better challenge would be to disallow both healing and potions.

Well in my 5 runs, 2 of which are on normal, 2 on hard and last on nightmare, I only used Wynne during the Broken Circle quest and never really crafted any healing potion, so yes. it is quite possible. I never took Creation skills on Morrigan too, for RP reasons.

I never had a healer, only used Pots

If people can beat the game with no party members I am relatively certain they can do it with no healer

dude... Soteria has beat Ser Cauthrien in the first fight without potions or mages.
To do this is ridiculously easy (no healer I mean).

Do solo run, no healing, no potions on nightmare. Now that'd be hardcore.

Playing with a healer + dps without using any potions (health or mana) is more difficult then solo using potions.
Solo without potions is beyond my ability.

Interesting... In any case, the healer option is kind of weird...hard to plan on tactics
Potions are much easier

I disagree with you Jono. I found my run with two mages, one with Regeneration and Revive, Morrigan with Regeneration, that I had almost excessive amounts of healing.
Basically, C/C > anything

Only used a mage my first playthrough. I am on my fourth. I leave the mages in camp. I had my PC learn Herbalism. You can beat the game with no mages. By the end you will not be drinking many potions either.

What I have found is that if you build your characters intelligently, the game always gets pretty easy around level 15. It was fairly difficult for me playing without a mage or potions around lvl 7-11. If you're curious about it, you could watch either of these two playlists: No healer and No mage.

Not using a healer really isn't that big a handicap. Healing with a mage is relatively balanced in the game. On the other hand, potions are absurdly overpowered due to how easy and cheap they become to make at the end of the game. On top of that, all the ingredients you need are eventually available in infinite supplies and you can craft one potion (which can be made for infinite supplies) for profit.
If you just want to make it through the game, yes, Healer isn't a big deal. If you are trying to handicap yourself, only using a Healer and no potions is a bigger handicap.

I have done most of the game without Wynne but then my PS3 yellow lighted before I could finish it but I would say it is definately possible. I also did it without potions aswell as I don't like spending my weapon money on elfroot.

I've beaten the game using only the potions I picked up and without using the Heal spell. And I use potions very rarely, usually when I'm after a secure win so I can finish up before going out. It's not hard at all, especially if you use the right spells like Force Field or the right spell-like abilities.
But I play on the PC, so my battles are heavily tactical.
If you really want a true "handicap", try playing the game with less and less debuffs/disable/crowd control spells. Or without so much "advancing in another direction".

Nah, just unmap your pause key. THAT is hard, imo.

It's very possible to play the game on Nightmere without a healer, it just takes some time to get used to. You have to be more careful in combat and make better use of your talents.

The only thing you really need Wynne/a healer for is Revival. No potion will revive a dead/unconscious char. Not even a console code will do it - healplayer console code doesn't revive them.
And the irritating thing, as I said elsewhere, is there seems to be no AI tacticscondition that you can set in the game to check if a char is dead. So you can't program her to cast it automatically on any char that falls, only order her to do it manually.
She would be a lot more useful if the AI would use Revival automatically: but it won't.
I do agree with the others that health and mana potions make her/a healer superfluous (other than that the AI sometimes doesn't drink them when you tell a char to drink them and ignores the action in the queue) and BTW if you get the stamina potions mod then her "regenerate" mana/stamina spell becomes even more superfluous.

Did one nightmare run through with a healer and no pots, then did another with pots and no healing magic. Without both, I've yet to figure out how to accomplish this. If I recall, both playthroughs were sword and board with berserker/champion specs, and party was variable.
