well not sure but they sure look VERY similar to earth first ancient life forms ( before dinosaur age)

Sea scorpions came and were gone before dinosaur. And if you played ME1, you'll have a closer look at Sovereign and it looks more like a squid.

yeah soverign and harbinger but not the others u see at the end of ME2 i mean u can clearly see lot of them arent squid like, if needed pause the video and see.
