Grunt is one of the better developed characters. His search for identity and issues with being a clanless krogan is great. Plus, he's kick ass in combat and has some great one liners.

^This. I like grunt.

You obviously haven't seen him bullrush an enemy. If you did... you would love him.

I like Grunt. Not only did he work well as a physical tank for my Adept, but I enjoyed how childlike, yet mature, he was. His thought processes certainly seemed well-developed, and he had all of the knowledge of his world, so to speak, implanted into his head. He just has to take the time to think about it and put the pieces together. I enjoyed talking with him and hearing about all of his "lightbulb" realizations. He's also quite polite for a child, and a Krogan child at that. Very level-headed, outside of raging during combat.

Especially if you bring Morinth to Tuchanka (have Grunt in the party) and interact with the Morinth prompt in the Urdnot triage area.

i like him fine, though I did not like how almost all of the crewmembers are not big conversationalists like in the first game. seriously every conversation you and the principle are the only one talking, none of your team mates weigh in (most of the time anyway)

Grunt start as rebel with a cause. You follow him as he struggle to find who he rly is. Can't wait for a DLC with krogan dating service. Here's hoping for more fun time on Tuchanka!

I like Wrex. Wrex likes Grunt. I like Grunt. It's simple.

OP, I think you've missed the point of Grunt entirely. What makes him compelling is that he is the quintessential krogan while at the same time not knowing who he is or what he is supposed to do with himself. He offers the unique perspective of an individual born already an adult, already having "memories," and yet lacking the cultural and social education one normally attains growing up in a community.

I think the moment that made his character was when he talks about the revenge killings perpetrated on the turians who killed warlord Shiagur. He realized he was racist against turians, and his reaction was simply "huh, good to know," in so many words. He is so unfamiliar with himself that any revelation is, to him, a step in the right direction.

So I've played through ME2 a few times now. Soldier, Vanguard, Renegade, Paragon, etc...

Each time I start I really try to go into it with an open mind when it comes to the characters... But each time I find I'm at a loss when it comes to Grunt. He feels very under developed. As it stands it feels like he's just the tolken Krogan squadmember. He lacks the character Wrex had, and I feel it is like a missed oppertunity.

I love the Korgan as a species... Their persionallties, views on strength/honor/battle is awesome. Wrex was compelling, at first he seemed like a big angry Krogan, but you started to see his feelings on he genophage and the plight of his people. This was expanded upon in ME2 (assuming he lived for your games) as you see him again.

Grunt on the other hand just seemed like a run of the mill "angry krogan" who happens to be genetically perfect... Ok, it's like they had a plan there, but either intentionally left it vague for ME3, or just flat forgot about it.

Did any one else get a different impression on Grunt? Is he more complex then I'm giving him credit for? Did I miss something?

thats what you get when you try to make a krogan milkshake.

they just arent as good as the real thing.

His back story is "I was grown in a tank, raised by picture books, then I met you"

Can't say they have much choice. What is interesting is his need to find out what his place in the universe is.

I love Grunt. I think he's the most intellectual Krogan there is after Wrex.

I like him, he's like a little kid, a very very violent one. The way he gets super excited if you take him on jack's recruitment missions is hilarious. His knowledge is all imprints none of it is his own experience so it's not very surprising he might seem shallow I guess.

I like Grunt, though even though he's a Krogan, he dies an awful, awful lot in combat. Probably because his idea of fighting is to continuously run out of cover.

He is most assuredly no Wrex.

Wrex >>>>>>>>>>>>>> all other companions.

I miss Wrex. :(

Grunt has a great personality. He has a funny sense of humor mixed with violence. He is even reflective. The coolest part about grunt is what his future holds.
He has Shepard to learn from and quite possibly Wrex.
It's very clear in the story that Grunt is one of the most superior Krogans ever. With the Urdnot Clan making historic changes to Krogan culture and Grunt being a part of that clan, I see great things ahead for him and his people.
Plus he took out a Thresher Maw.

I truly started appreciating the guy when I went to collect Legion from the Reaper on insanity. It's pretty special to area Incinerate a group of husks and stick the lil feller in the middle of them. yeeeeAAAAAARH!

i don't really like him either, not too much anyway. i don't hate him. i think it's more of a Krogan thing with me. i'm glad they're a part of the ME universe and everything, but i just don't really like being around them or having to listen to them too long.

Give him a chance.

I thought EXACTLY like you did about Grunt at first, and really hated him on my first playthrough, but after giving him a chance, and bringing him along for a few missions, he really started to develop as a character, and now I'm really starting to appreciate him alot more, he is way more then he first appears.

I think Grunt is the perfect example of getting back what you give to him, if you don't do much other then his loyalty quest, he'll be a boring uninspired character, but if you actually bring him along, you get to see him grow, at first he just starts out like a big enraged Krogan, but bring him with you to the Archangel mission, and go talk to the Blood Pact, bring him to Illium and talk to the Bartender, just bring him around honestly, and have him with you when you talk to people, he starts to grow out of that bloodrageish act, and really starts to well, become a character.

Thing is, you got to realize, Grunt was just born, and is going through the Korgan equivalent of puberty, he has no idea how to control himself early on, but as you go, he takes examples from you, and much like Garrus, grows based on how his Battlemaster acts, and really starts to respect you as a Captain, and it will be interesting to see how Grunt develops into Mass Effect 3.

I loved using him my first playthrough, pretty much stuck with him & Garrus the entire game.
