I love him.  As many have said, he's basically like a really excitable child who headbutts people to death.  His enthusiasm is infectious, and he seems to have the best in-mission comments of any of the team.  He's interesting up to Tuchanka, but once you get him there and interacting with other Krogan, he really takes off.  Everything he does gets him so hyped up, and he really seems like the most loyal of the team after the rite.  It's impressive how they managed to make him both fearsome and gracious; he combines "let's go kill" with "wow, you're the best and I really appreciate what you're doing for me, bro" extremely well.

Love him, was my main right hand man most of the time. Funny though, as could never relate to Wrex in ME1, but I love Grunt.

You see him being "born". Wich history do you expect from someone that's a couple days old?

I do. Guy's more complex because he doesn't know anything about his memories or what his purpose is. That's why his subquest is to go to Tutchanka and investigate his own puberty ritual. Grunt is also the most loyal party member to Shepard, even more so then Wrex since he defends Shepard's honor on very many occasions rather then his own.

This.

I like him.  He's the krogan equivalent of a teenage boy.  Except he's also a mega-krogan teenage boy.  Cut him a break on the purpose/personality department.  He's literally born on your ship and by the end of the game is like what a couple of months old?  He'll get there.  I didn't like him either because I thought he was too bloodthirsty and I chastised him for it.  To which he replied something like "purpose, direction, that's YOUR job, battlemaster.  I'm here to fight."  And I was like, oh yeah, good point.  He's not old enough to have worked all the testosterone out of his system yet or to have learned any caution.  By the time he is Wrex's age I'll think he'll be quite weathered, wise, and significantly calmer.  Plus, I love when he screams "I AM KROGAN!"  I totally get chills when he does that during his Rite of Passage while we are fighting the thresher maw.  That is the most epic moment in the game for me.  I love it.  I like his deep evil laugh when he kills stuff too.

Grunt is freaking adorable. He is, like has been mentioned before, much like a kid. Oh, sure, I like Wrex more overall. But I still love Grunt.

Grunt recruit and loyalty missions are by far by favorites. Hearing the dialogue of the first tank-bred krogan you meet is very interesting and twisted. I don't see how I can skip out on his mission, or not grab him first. And he is the character who is the most fully developed, since he has had such a short life span we know everything about him, more than he does in fact. Every action of his can be explained, meanwhile with other characters it can be, why did he/she do that?

So I've played through ME2 a few times now. Soldier, Vanguard, Renegade, Paragon, etc...

Each time I start I really try to go into it with an open mind when it comes to the characters... But each time I find I'm at a loss when it comes to Grunt. He feels very under developed. As it stands it feels like he's just the tolken Krogan squadmember.

What do you expect from someone, who is just 20 years old and live this years in a tank?
Shepardt become something like his father/mother/advisor.
He only know how to fight.

Grunt was born without a reason for living, seeing him grow and develop is what makes him incredible. He has all these memories, ideas and thoughts that he has no connection or desire for. Giving him a life outside of the Normandy, giving him have a family was, to me, more emotionally charged than most other missions.

I just love the way grunt grows as a character, developing a purpose and discovering himself. Of course as well as the fact he maintains a really badass character during the game

Should be interesting to see what happens with Mass Effect 3.

And I better be able to buy Grunt a Claw Hammer for his birthday:

Shep: Hey Grunt. (Slaps the Krogan on the shoulder.)
Grunt: Shepard. (With utmost respect.)
Shep: So, do anything interesting today? (Fiddles with his omni tool.)
Grunt: I've been having fun with the claw hammer you gave me.
Shep: (Turns off his omni tool and eyes Grunt.) What kind of fun?
Grunt: Well, there were these damn Batarians, just hanging around minding their own business...
Shep: Did you destroy the bodies? (Crosses his arms.)
Grunt: Yes Battlemaster. I even threw them through the Normandy's engine wash, just like you said to do!
Shep: Good job son! C'mon, let's go get some Ice Cream and Ryncol!
(They leave the cargo bay, claw hammer safely stashed under Grunt's grow-tank.)[/quote]

At first i was very skeptic. I didnt like the fact that he was in the tank with his armor and that he didn't need to adapt to "being" alive at all. Also no physical training required and nothing. It felt very sloppy/unrealistic. I wouldn't even start to think about the mental state of someone who never made his own experiences but only being brainwashed. It's all pretty *aarrghh*, if you see what i mean.

But the dialogs are not bad at all.

And it's really getting better when he has the dark armor. I started to like him then ;)

I came to find that Grunt speaks very little but every word counts like ten. You have to take each word and think about it in context with krogan culture to understand his depth.

"Garrus is *a* turian and he's part of your clan" Just consider what clan, honor and battlemaster mean to krogan, what may seem as simplicity in his logic becomes a deeply rooted moral belief.

I believe it has been mentioned and I agree, take him with you, let him inhale all that there is in the world, then filter it and find out who he is.

It would be good if he become a biotic in Mass Effect 3 (due surgery like some other krogans).
He is the best surviver of shepardts team(expecially with pureblood and fortification),but this doesnt help you much.Only husk missions are a exception.
And the strongest, mean perfect krogans are the battlemasters.
Would be good if he has at least warp.

Without a doubt Grunt was my favorite character in the game, I had him in my squad the entire game...it was like going into combat with an unhinged wrecking ball

Legion was probably my second fav. character to use (wish they would have put him in earlier)

before playing I thought Thane would be another one I kept in party but then when I started playing (don't get me wrong he was interesting) I didn't use him all that much. I thought he was going to be more of a ruthless assassin , instead they made him into a Kung fu Carradine type character...lol I was afraid of what I might find when I walked into his area to talk to him. A dead drell with a belt around his neck and his "pistol" in his hand....lol sorry couldn't pass on the 'Grasshoppa' joke.

I think the moment that made his character was when he talks about the revenge killings perpetrated on the turians who killed warlord Shiagur. He realized he was racist against turians, and his reaction was simply "huh, good to know," in so many words. He is so unfamiliar with himself that any revelation is, to him, a step in the right direction.

i think it was less "huh, good to know" than it was "hell yeah! screw THOSE guys!"
