I love him.  As many have said, he's basically like a really excitable child who headbutts people to death.  His enthusiasm is infectious, and he seems to have the best in-mission comments of any of the team.  He's interesting up to Tuchanka, but once you get him there and interacting with other Krogan, he really takes off.  Everything he does gets him so hyped up, and he really seems like the most loyal of the team after the rite.  It's impressive how they managed to make him both fearsome and gracious; he combines "let's go kill" with "wow, you're the best and I really appreciate what you're doing for me, bro" extremely well.

That. :innocent:

Grunt's great -- I liked him a great deal MORE than Wrex. It's just a shame he has so few conversations.

We Tigers put it the best.

I do... he's a baby Krogan, his personality is built off impression given to him by Okeer... Hopefully we get more of him in 3

I agree very much so with this, Grunt is awesome.

He calls me Battlemaster and references Shiagur.

Grunt I feel has potentional, and we all have to remember he is in Krogan term just entering adulthood. Plus he was grown in a tank so he is still finding himself so to speak, and between Shepard and Urgnok Rex I feel he will grow in depth. Also as a side note to this the vooice actor that does Grunt is the same actor that did Odgren in DAO, and I feel he did a better job in ME2. I look forward to seeing Grunt in ME3.

Liked him a lot. PersonallyI am a sucker for those genetically bred-weapon "what am I" characters.

I don't think he's better than Wrex, but as someone said, he's a good juxtaposition to him. He's still techincally a baby, compared to Wrex's overt maturity. Helping him find his place in the world was a nice touch. Hearing him call Shep his "battlemaster" and that he has no equal in battle was pretty awesome. People always seem to go to Omega first, but he has some pretty funny lines (and added diaologue with the Blood Pack leader) if you grab him first and take him with you on both Omega missions, and on Purgatory to rescue Jack.

This thread reminds me of one of my favorite Joker lines as well.

"You know Commander, I'm not exactly broken up that Wrex isn't coming with us. I'm good with our current level of headbutting. We're at headbutting capacity."

I like Grunt. He's dealing with an identity crisis. He has these memories forced on him, and is expected to be who Okeer wanted him to be, but he slowly discovers who he is on his own. Mostly. Shepard helped.

Give him a chance.

I thought EXACTLY like you did about Grunt at first, and really hated him on my first playthrough, but after giving him a chance, and bringing him along for a few missions, he really started to develop as a character, and now I'm really starting to appreciate him alot more, he is way more then he first appears.

I think Grunt is the perfect example of getting back what you give to him, if you don't do much other then his loyalty quest, he'll be a boring uninspired character, but if you actually bring him along, you get to see him grow, at first he just starts out like a big enraged Krogan, but bring him with you to the Archangel mission, and go talk to the Blood Pact, bring him to Illium and talk to the Bartender, just bring him around honestly, and have him with you when you talk to people, he starts to grow out of that bloodrageish act, and really starts to well, become a character.

Thing is, you got to realize, Grunt was just born, and is going through the Korgan equivalent of puberty, he has no idea how to control himself early on, but as you go, he takes examples from you, and much like Garrus, grows based on how his Battlemaster acts, and really starts to respect you as a Captain, and it will be interesting to see how Grunt develops into Mass Effect 3.

So what you're saying is that Grunt is ME2's Tali'Zorah nar Rayya? Since most of the people who thought Tali was just 'a quarian encyclopaedia' in the first game were those who never took her on missions.

I didn't really like him. His bark seemed like bark to me. Wrex had far, far more pressence. Grunt while still a bioware character (meaning he is fleshed out), and has his moments didn't seem to cast much of an intimidating shadow. Wrex did.

Even Zaeed does.

If I had to vote one character off the normandy...it would be Grunt. I do his loyalty quest for the upgrades...

He's... ok. Like most ME2 squaddies.

Not the Wrex "beater" some of the devs hyped him as, but a workable character.

I gotta say I really like the whole cast of ME2. I would love to see all of them come back but there were few missions I did go on that I didn't take Grunt. I would playthrough missions a couple of times with different squad members for the experience of mix and matching, but it rarely seemed as smooth if Grunt wasn't there with me. The guy is freakin hilarious too, take him with you to recruit Jack.
I think it's sad we didn't get more cutscenes of the team interacting. I would like to see one of Jack and Grunt in the Lower Docking Bay doing some "Friendly" sparring and almost killing each other in the process. :)

No, not really. Its a toss up between him, Jacob, Jack and Zaeed for my least favourite character. Miranda and Thane only excuse themselves from that toss up by a gnats wink.

I cant actually recall gaining anything from his conversations worth remembering, besides an obvious air of approval once I got him into clan Urdnot.

The majority of ME2s squad had this "meh"ness about them that I could never get past.

also, you can miss a good chunk of dialog with him if you don't talk with him before gaining his loyalty quest
