On my first playthrough i wanted to be thorugh. so i did all the loyalty missions and upgardaes. All my team survived, but the normandy crew was completly wiped out. Second playthrough, completed most  of the loyalty, only did ship upgrades. All my team members survived, managed to save half the crew. kelly died.
Anyone has any idea for a scenario where kelly is feeding my fishes, not sleeping with them?...

If you don't wait you can save everyone (Kelly included.)

In order to save all of the crew, you have to go after them pretty much as soon as they are taken - no wandering off to do some more sidequests, loyalty missions first. So get that all out of the way before grabbing that IFF. (I believe you have time for one mission, some say two, after the IFF is retrieved, though, before you have to jump into the endgame.)

send someone better to escort the crew? beyond that i dont know. if the ship is fully upgraded, no one will be killed before you land on the collector base. then again, i've done 2 playthrough will all the upgrades and all loyal crew (including tali, legion, miranda, and jack after their little cat fights) and still my tech specialist dies every friggin time. figures they'd all survive on the insanity run though

Basically, it's like this:



Do all the loyalty and N7 and sidequest missions you can before you grab the IFF. Then after that, do Legion's loyalty quest. The crew will be abducted, at which point you want to persue the collector vessel immediately. Head straight to the Omega-4 relay and start the suicide mission.



That will let you save all the crew.

Actually I recommend saving some N7 missions for the end-game. That way you can unlock all of Legion's conversations. If you do all the N7's before getting the IFF you won't be able to.

How many conversations does Legion have? I need to know how many N7 missions to leave.

Do the reaper IFF mission after you have done all the recruitment and loyalty missions.  When you activate Legion do his loyalty mission immediately (don't travel around).  When the crew is abducted go directly into the suicide mission.  You should be set... squad lives and crew lives (colonists die... but who cares about them).

All my squadies survive with no problem, i'm talking about the ship's crew...

If you're losing specialists, you're not assigning the right ppl... ppl who send thane as their tech master, and choose samara as their team leader get what they deserve...

Good point. I was thinking from the perspective of "level heavily for the suicide mission then segway right into NG+." 

But that is a good point with Legion.
