I survived with 0 casualties.

And yes, I've been hearing that Mordin dies quite easily. Luckily, I decided that by being expert on alien biology, Mordin could potentially help diagnose and treat the survivors if they suffered any ill effects from being on the Collector ship.

This is good info. I'll be sending Mordin back with mah homies in my next playthrough.

Everyone survived for me on the first, but I didn't have Zaeed yet. On my second I had Zaeed but he and Mordin died. I have yet to have a completely perfect playthrough.

All my team mates survived on my first playthrough which was on insanity level. Maybe I just got lucky, but I couldn't really understand why it was supposed to be so difficult to keep everyone alive. In that sense I was a bit disappointed with the difficulty level of the final mission. Boarding the Collector ship earlier in the game was much, much more difficult. The only one I felt was in danger on the final mission was Legion since I sent him on the solo mission. I almost ran out of time to open the vents, or whatever it was, so he almost fried. All team mates were loyal to me, though, and I picked Miranda to lead the other team, since she had reached the rank of "Cerberus leader", or whatever, and seemed the obvious choice for that role. I sent Zaeed to escort Chakwas back to Normandy figuring he had the firepower to defend her properly. Thane and Mordin were my partners on the final boss fight. Thane with his sniper rifle and Mordin with his incinerate was useful against the armor on the human reaper.

Lost 3

Garrus

Samara

Jack

Main problem was... I was too impatient to finish the game and didn't research every single possible upgrade. So next play through gonna first finish all the research I can before installing da IFF...

My "normal" team was geared towards a brute force approach: Thane, Grunt and me as soldier. Worked quite well. :-)

Maybe taking my time to do almost all upgrades possible was the clue to my success. I even collected the 50 000 platinum to do the useless med bay upgrade (which removes the scars).

same here, and sadly i cant fix that, my mistake was doing a little sweep trough the major cities looking for upgrades, had no idea you had a hidden  time frame to reach the crew.

I'm pretty pissed actually. I'm going through the final mission as I'm writing this (just alt-tabbed out of the game), and I just lost Tali who took a hit to the face while she was closing some blast doors (I had her running through the tube thingie, and she never got stuck for long at the eight points that needed to be opened).

I had all ship upgrades, almost all weapon and armor upgrades and all characters loyal before I went through the Omega-4 relay (which I did immediately after the IFF was ready), and I was under the impression that this would all but guarantee that all characters would make it through alive?

And even if not, there are a bunch of them I didn't really care about either way, but I really didn't want to lose Tali - particularly as I was hoping to carry this save game with me to ME3.

Is there an element of complete randomness to who lives or dies?

It's not a bad idea to leave some N7 missions for the aftergame, because then you can see all of Legion's dialogue. Ideally, get all the loyalty missions done before getting the IFF. Then you can rush in after you have Legion's mission taken care of, and lose no crew.

Garrus, Miranda, and Jacob should be your only secondary squad leader choices. Anyone else will die, or get your tech killed. Likewise, use only Tali or Legion as the vent tech, and Samara for your biotic shield. Even if Mordin's loyal, send him back with the survivors - he has a tendency to die randomly while holding the line.

In my game, Tali died. I did everything right, mind you. Legion in the vents, Miranda as the leader of the first squad, Garrus for the second, Jack for the biotic field and I had Grunt escort the crew. Tali was a random death. I wasn't about to let her die, though, so I replayed the mission and this time I let her escort the Normandy crew. And BAM. No casualties.

I kept my entire squad alive on the first playthrough and managed to rescue the entire crew. I took my time got everyones loyalty and had maxed out or nearly maxed out paragon with the shock trooper evolution for the two arguments(Jack-Miranda and Tali-Legion.) As for the suicide mission I chose Tali for the tech, Miranda for both squad leaders and Samara for the shield. I sent Mordin with the survivors since I'd been spoiled a little and knew there was going to be a hold the line part where the remaining squadmates kept the Collectors off my back and I figured he would be the least useful there.

Got the No One Left Behind achievement on my first playthrough. Everyone was loyal and I made sure to upgrade the ship completely. I was playing with my canon Shepard, so I wanted a flawless game to import in ME3.

But I also got lucky with some decisions: like going immediately through the relay, instead of completing some side missions. Sending Mordin back to escort the crew was also a lucky guess.

I did too, no one died in my game and I plan to keep everyone alive in all of my playthroughs even the Normandy's Crew.

All my squad survived,  however the few crew members I managed to save from the collectors died on their way to the Normandy. As I thought, sending them alone was a bad idea :crying:.

Same here. Wasn't that hard to keep everyone alive, imo (except the fish^^).
