It seems to me I'm not getting xp for the party as intended, per described in the Faq on the dao site. It says in the faq that all party members recieve the same xp whether in camp or in party and that is not true, unless my game is bugged. People I've left in the camp are not recieving any xp at all as far as I can tell. I can live with who I pick and choose to use, just saying according to the faq this isn't working correctly.

On xbox the people I leave at camp level at about the same speed as all my other characters, but if you're playing pc then possibly its some kind of bug, dunno.

on xbox the people i leave in camp don't level at the same rate as the ones that I take with me. I just completed the entire dalish elf quest with Zevran in camp the entire time ( I had just gotten him right before) and when I came back to camp his exp. was the exact same...

At the end of the game the characters I hardly took out of camp were about one level lower than the characters I had with me near constantly. Maybe there's some slight unbalance but seeing as its apparently not that big and the reason its there is because I'm not using them anyways, don't really care.

Its possible you're just experiencing some sort of weird glitch, I guess..

Nevermind I went back and read that again (had read before game was out and remembered wrong). It does say that but it also says "Once they have joined your party, you may level them up as you wish."

I'm not sure but my people in camp are 2-3 levels behind my active party.

Perhaps people in camp only gain enough experience to stay one level or so behind your main character? Can anyone confirm this because I like using different party members for different quests and would rather they're not gimped and I'd hate to have to start over as I've put 20+ hours into this game so far.

That's not what I said.

I said that at the end of the game, the characters I didn't use at all were about one level behind the ones I used almost always.. That doesn't mean that it isn't possible for them to gain experience in camp if they're the same level as your character or higher, it's just how it ended up for me.

I honestly don't know how the leveling mechanics work for people in camp, just sharing what my experience with it was.

Either way I'd like to know. I'd rather not have my main character 4-5 levels ahead of my secondary characters if I switch them in and out constantly.
