At certain points in the game the console states; disk unreadable (on both disks).

i followed the on screen instructions, however nothing has worked.

If this is a production fault, it is a massive one. At least 30 people have experienced this problem and reported it on this forum and others. Many people, including myself, have attempted to solve this issue by replacing their copy of ME2 only to have their efforts proven futile.

I myself have been through 4 copies of this game in an attempt to find any Disc 1 or Disc 2 that did not cause this issue. Currently I have 2 copies of this game, one with a disc 1 that I was able to install to the hard drive, the other with a disc 2 that I was able to install to the hard drive. Oddly enough, I cannot use any disc 1 or disc 2 after I've installed to the hard drive or my xbox gives me an "invalid disc" error when I choose "play from hard drive."

The fact of the matter is that this is a very serious issue. All discs (at least in my particular case) were immaculate "out of the box" new. All ME2 disc's gave the error, however all other games worked flawlessly. (I tried 12 other games / game discs in total) About the only thing that was not tested was using the disc's in a different Xbox. The reasons I did not try this are: 1) I did not, do not, and will not have access to a second Xbox 360. 2) The other games worked perfectly, suggesting that the Xbox 360 is not the issue. 3) The Xbox 360 received a professional cleaning post-incident, which includes a cleaning of all fans, new silicone, and a precision cleaning of the optical drive.

Now I love this game...as is obvious from all the effort I put forth in an attempt to play it, but the effort should not have been required in the first place. This is an interesting case however, because the questions/ concerns/ complains should not be directed towards the developers but rather to the manufacturer. So, to the manufacturer I say this: WTF?

Did you uninstall the game before trying a new disc?

Some games will only work when installed if you are using the exact same disc used to install them.

I just had it show on my screen. Took the game back to Game spot and they gave me new disks. I told them that there were a few people having the same problem with unreadable disks. They will replace them as long as you have your receipt.

By the way; when you get the new disks. Delete the last save of your game play. The reason being is it has been corrupted and will keep reading that your disk is unreadable. It saved the corrupted disks memory to your hard drive. So insert the new disk; delete the last save of your gameplay; and start that mission over.

Repeat, do not delete your whole game play missions. Just where the disk unreadable content is. which should be the last mission on auto save. you might have to go just one more mission back too.

I was only ever given one opportunity to install each disc. Even the disc's that I am using now give me a disc read error 99% of the time I attempt to play from the optical drive... It still baffles me that I was able to successfully install the game (from either disc) at all. Basically what I am saying is: Each individual attempt made with any of the discs was made with no prior-installation. Therefore, uninstallation between disc attempts was not an opinion...much less a dilemma.

I tried your tips, but I'm still getting the error. I even started a whole new game and when I got to the problem area it still crashed. It's possible I got another bad disk though, so I'm going to try one more time. Thanks for the info though, maybe someone else will have better luck lol.

I have a simular problem where my discs don't work though they worked perfectly for my first play through (sometimes I can't even start the game) since I have the same problems with DA:O I think this might be a programing fault or something

Generally If I have some patience I can work through the error and continue to play but its a pain to contiunly try and start the game

I am so glad for the frequent auto save or this wouldn't be worth it

I just noticed something and if it's true then it might just be a quirck of MY xbox but I think How long the 360 has been running may play a part.

Last night I couldn't get ME2 to work and the xbox had been on all day(I do have an external fan) today it was on for only an hour and it worked fine(only one disc read error and that was a bit after were the previus were.

maybe this is a heat problem?

I don't know I'll come back in a few days and post my observations

It seems that their is some reaction but it doesn't always work.

I think I have a better chance though

Here is a question does this happen with the newer 360 models or is it only older ones?
