Maybe you all know...  I'm playing through Mass Effect 2 for the second time.  The first time I went all paragon.  Now I want to go all renegade...but you can't.  If you want to get all the team members, keep them, and get all renegade points, you can't.  So you can't get the completion achievement if you're a renegade.
*spoiler*

If you get Legion, you get something like 20 paragon points.  If you scrap him, you get 20 renegade points.  So...why can't you keep legion and get renegade points instead?  If you protect your team, you get paragon points....even if your reason for protecting them could be that you just don't want your team hurt.  You don't care what happens afterward, just not right now.  This wouldn't make a difference to me if it wasn't for the fact that it changes your appearance.  I've been trying to get the full red eyes and all that, but I can't.  I have 3 Renegade slots and 2 Paragon slots.  That's from going through, saving, loading, and trying different choices.  In order to get the team I want, that's the minimum I can do.  When I get the scars and eyes start getting red, I get a paragon point and they heal.  Is there a way to just choose that you want them?

Also, what's up with Shepard's face being covered in all the downloadable stuff?  His helmet is always on on the special armors.  You go through all that trouble of animating his face to make it a cinematic experience and then hide it if we use anything but stock armor....it makes no logical sense.  Is there going to be an option added in the future to take the helmet off of the cerberus armor, dragon age armor, collector armor, etc?

Any tips on what to do?  Or if I want 100% renegade, am I going to be forced to play all through mass effect 1 again, be renegade, and then pick up on 2?

I'd like to edit in renegade/paragon points to get full bars for both personally, but it's the one thing I can't seem to do with the save game editor.

On my Renegade Shep I had full Renegade and 1 bar of Paragon. The odd Paragon point doesn't hurt. I recruited every team member, including Legion, and they all survived at the end.

Same here, a few paragon points due to meta-gaming didn't hurt me.
It wasn't even that much of meta gaming on my part, i was genuenly curious about Legion, and so was my Shep.

Being renegade doesn't mean always choosing the bottom-right option every time.  If you do that, then you'll pass on a bunch of side quests.  Like if you decide not to help Conrad, you might get some renegade points, but not as much as if you decided to help him and intimidate the merchant.  Also, like the looters on Omega while recruiting Mordin.  You have to pick the up-left option of "I don't like looters." and the next up-left option until you can finally intimidate them into stopping.  I had no trouble going from 0 renegade points to a full bar by the end of the game.

I also managed full renegade points with one bar of paragon and completed all of the loyalty missions, being nice to my squad members in the process. Everyone survived the suicide mission. This was not an imported save.

I'm having no trouble getting full renegade. It's getting the red stuff to stay that is the problem. I have one and a half paragon bars and almost all renegade. I had some paragon starting out, but during the close-ups it sometimes looks like I'm paragon and sometimes like I'm renegade. It's like the game is just randomly picking which set to use with each close-up. Mordin always dies at the end for me. I am not sure why. He's loyal and has his omni-tool. Weird.
