I have seen plenty of discussion on what people want to play for their first playthrough's; however, I have not seen any templates. If you have planned out your character's template please post it here for others to see/discuss, please do not flame, and explain why you do not think something may/may not work. I shall take the plunge first. By the way, I have only designed this template to only level 6 because I am unsure of its direction after level 7.

I have decided upon a Dwarf Noble as my first character, I will be shaping Him/Her into a Tank. I will try and explain why I have made the choices I made as well.  Also, this template is designed using the Grimoire of Frozen Wastes (+3 one stat book), if you did not get the collectors edition of the game your attribute points will have to be distributed a bit differently.

Starting attributes: STR 20, DEX 14, WILL 10, MAGIC 10, CUNNING 10 and CON 15
Automatic Skills: Combat Training, Improved Combat Training
Creation Point: Expert Combat Training (Reasoning: Bonus to attack)

Automatic Talent: Shield Bash
Creation Points: Shield Pummel and Precise Striking

Now that I have completed the character and get into the game, I will open my inventory and hopefully find the grimoire to add 3 points into STR. If the grimoire is not there however, I will need to adjust the points that I will be putting into DEX/CON for levels 2 and 3.

Level 2: STR 24, DEX 15, CON 16.  Skill: Combat Traing Mastery (Reason: Bonuses to ARMOR and ATTACK) Talent: Shield Defense (Reason: Bonus to Defense)

Level 3: STR 25, DEX 16, CON 17. Skill: No skill points here.  Talent: Overpower

Level 4: DEX 17, Cunning 11, CON 18. Skill: Coersion.  Talent: Taunt

Level 5: STR 26, WILL 11, CON 19. Skill: No skill points here.  Talent: Shield Balance (Reason: remove the penalty from Shield Defense)

Level 6: STR 27, Cunning 12, CON 20. Skill: Improved Coersion (Dialog options, hopefully).  Talent: Shield Wall.

Please tell me what you think (constructively please :D)

If you watch >>> <<< it shows character creation with the buttons "unlocked" and the points you can spend, and if you reference the wiki you can get a general idea of the points. Just wish I knew if you gained the skill points on even or odd levels as warrior/mage :(

you may need to revise your template. I read a few comments from the devs about the dlc items and apparently the grimoire is gained mid-game, rather than in your inventory off the bat, tho he did admit he may be mistaken.

besides that it seems like a good build but wouldn't it be slightly more beneficial to put more into con rather than str given that you want a tank not a dps?

we know to little about the level system to design a template in this state imo.

however putting your points into hp and attack is quite obvious for creating a tank in any game

As I mentioned if the grimoire is not in my inventory ill simply adjust the points I place at levels 2 and 3. If you look over the weapon and shield talents, I need at the minimum of 25 STR in order to get the Overpower talent. And I'll need 26 STR to gain the T4 Shield Expertise Talent. I'm front loading the STR in the build in order to gain some DPS early on (Overpower). Hope this explains some of the thought behind it.
