Sony has a slower software cert red tape process, that is the reason.

Blame sony for being in 3rd place. PS3 gets treated like a 3rd place platform, that might change in 3 years

1. ehhhh... that's the excuse bioware gave, but it's not entirely true.

2. no, blame the bioware game devs for being lazy pieces of garbage.

I wish I could be like you. Totally ignorant of what being a developer for anything actually means. Must be nice.

i know exactly what goes on in video game development because i have several years of first-hand experience, so..... how many AAA titles have you worked on in the last few years?

i can tell just from playing this game as an end user that they're lazy pieces of garbage.

Patience Level IV - The character has learned the value of patience and is no longer bothered by countless delays or silent treatment. The character is now also immune to new DLCs and can inspire allies to do the same.

Image IPB, I was wondering what had happened to me: I guess this explains it.

atleast we have official date of release coming from bioware.... but why it is not released much earlier, why still need to wait march 11 if it is already passed the sony certification? why not this coming thursday psn update or maybe tomorrow? still need to wait 2 weeks just to have a 30 min to 1 hour add on game. bioware and sony must release it much earlier than march 11, while ps3 user's focused are still in rto, while we have much plenty of time to play and enjoyed rto. because when awakening is released, more people will know focused, buying, and playing awakening, and eventually rto will be forgotten. and also many ps3 user's will thing if buying rto is still worth it? because any armor or items that can be looted or even cailan's armor cannot be carried if we loaded it to awakening... too much to wait, lest time to played. hope to release it much earlier so ps3 user's will have more time and enjoyed the game...

I was considering changing my group's name, but I think I will wait until after March 16th to do so. Til then, remember: My capacity to feel about RTO's release differs from yours, but you also differ from all other beings. You are no more a person than others, and I am no less a person than you are.

It's impressive to see so much demand for a DLC. I've been working in the biz for a while (not Bioware), and all of you must understand that this is rather typical. From a technological standpoint, it isn't a very big jump from PC to Xbox 360. This is why the 360 has had a faster return on DLC. This is not true with the PS3. From the processors to the OS, it's just a different animal.  Even the compliance to console regulations can get harry.  To top it off the submission process it is far more difficult with Sony, which only complicates things. Perhaps the reason why this thread has received so little (or really no) attention is that the statement "What's taking so long?" or "Why does the 360 get it first?" are very loaded. I don't think they are treating the PS3 as a third-rate console, but from a development standpoint it's just easier to approach PC-360-PS3 cross-platform development this way. (also a loaded statement) I'm as eager as the rest of you, and I really feel you on the frustration. Hopefully my perspective will help you understand, or maybe it'll just ****** you off more. But there it is.

darth ******:

Can you share any details on these mystical Sony "certification" trials? Do you have to drink Darkspawn blood? Dodge giant pendular razor blades? Perhaps a Gordian knot or two needs undoing? What exactly does "certification" inlclude?

I too am eagerly awaiting new DLC from DAO on the PS3. I'm not enraged over the matter though due to one simple fact (besides it just being a video game). It takes a monumental amount of effort to produce content - let alone a single title - for multiple platforms.

Though I have heard/read that programming and producing content for the PS3 is especially difficult; separate teams, budgets and challenges must be allocated proportionately according to the entire company's portfolio.

Another great RPG publisher also had similar release date issues regarding the PS3 and that is of Bethesda of course, with their Oblivion and Fallout 3 DLC's. Thus it can be concluded that with the limited resources available, such issues shall continue, still resulting in high quality content.

Though such a delay can be annoying, we are living in a period where there is a colossal amount of quality games (with an unprecendented level of writing for such a medium) on the market to enjoy in the mean time while we wait.

not exactly.  i have a lot of experience in the game industry and i can tell you right now that the process isn't any more complicated (or lengthier, which was the excuse BW gave to PS3 owners) on the PS3 than the X360.

as much as i think the BW is inept when it comes to PS3 support, my best guess is that it failed submission.  possibly even multiple times.  that is the only reasonable conclusion i can come up with because it certainly does not take over a month to go through certification at sony.
