I think giving the Normandy some kind of personality was a great idea, and without spoiling, EDI becomes very interesting lategame.

I would really love to see her get a body for ME3. With a quality story behind it, of course, Bioware style. She could approach you with the fear of being destroyed together with the ship and suggesting some kind of "mobile platform". Or she could be interested in learning more about human behaviour, sick of being seen with fear and of all the misunderstanding. She could want it as some sort of deal, since she doesn`t ally herself with other AI's and is designed to appear human.
There are a lot of cool story elements, adding another aspect to the Organic/Synthetic conflict that's one of the core story elements in the ME universe. I could also think about some interesting love story between her and Joker, where paragon players help them and renegade claim her for themselves - or don't treat her like a human.
It is admittedly an element that has been in SciFi a lot, Data and Seven of Nine in Star Trek for example. And the Andromeda TV series features a very similar story (which was the only good thing about this series - it got so dumb in the later seasons...). But it is still something that that would fit very well in ME3 imho and also something where new aspects could easily be found!

I think she could download herself into Legion, and they could bicker with each other. The only thing that could top that would be Joker with a walker.

She already has a body. It's called 'Normandy'. I would, however, love if she got a loyalty mission of her own or something like that.

I think it might be cool if she got a custom mech body to act as a mobile platform, based off of the Hahne-Kedar VI Battle mech line.. (Wait, I just got that Hahne-Kedar... HK. Subtle HK-47 references?)

hmmm, tbh a "bender" like robot character as a party memeber would be a blast. you could turn him into a paragon farm by adding a paragon interrupt quicktime event every time he tries to pickpocket people while in your party.

That reminds me of a SciFi series ... i think it was Andromedar ... would be some kind of copy of the idea ... and just if none noticed EDI follows you around ... just no in a material way ... she (it?) is in every damn computer system once you get near enoug to it

But thats no vote against the idea ... just for the protocol

The voice actress is Tricia Helfer from BSG,she was Caprica.

I was thinking about a really human looking avatar, just to clarify. Not a human robot of 99% flesh like the advanced cylons from BSG, more like Rommy in Andromeda (Robot with biological skin over it).
But thinking about it, using Tricia Helfer as face model could cause serious legal issues with the BSG series. Not that I'm a expert in this field, but I guess they would have to avoid copying Caprica into the ME universe.

Nevertheless, I think there would be great story possibilities. A conflict about her creation, since an AI is illegal anyway, an AI avatar mimicking human behaviour and not easily to identify as robot would be more than illegal.
A scandal, and that was before the council knew she is a fusion of technology from the geth, the reapers, an classified terrorist project called "Lazarus" and an insane guy named mordin...

why? because an AI needs it's blue box, well at least EDIs kind of AI, the geth seems to be different seeing how they can transfer from platforms back and forth and dont really have a personality either...



these blue boxes are quite big and we all know the size of EDIs core, also if she would download to a smaller blue box or any other blue box for that matter it would create a new personality so...
