Some Choose Art to Express Their Dragon Age Appreciation

Note: All links open in new window!

Earlier this week we took a look at how Dragon Age: Origins fans express themselves.  From writing reviews on Raptr to setting up Alistair fan clubs on Facebook, showing your appreciation for the game  has never been easier or more enjoyable.  This week we turn our attention to a particular artist on the popular art website, DeviantArt.com.

On DeviantArt, she goes by the name of Aimo and has roughly 505 uploads in her art gallery.  It is broken down into seven categories and boasts a unique style with reminiscent influences and has a solid comic book vibe.
While she generally has received very positive feedback on all of her pieces, nothing seems to garner as much
attention as her Dragon Age: Origins fan art.

Greywardens: Where did you learn how to draw? Did you take any sort of formal art classes or did you just learn on your own?

Aimo: “I’ve been drawing since I was as young as I could remember. The walls at home were not safe from my childhood crayon scribblings, and when those became off-limits, I turned my attentions to drawing paper and colouring books. I seriously took it up as a lifelong passion at age nine, after reading an English-translated
manga my older brother ordered through the mail, a book called Lum*Urusei Yatsura by Rumiko Takahashi.

I started out by trying to draw characters the way the artist did, but as I grew older and began to absorb various influences from other manga and American comics as well as cartoons, my drawing style began to evolve from the exposure. While I did study art theory, art history, and digital media during university, as a whole I consider
myself very much self-taught, both as a traditional and digital artist.”
