I think they should disable tattoos for Dwarf Nobles, since they would be considered by dwarfen society as a mark of the castless why would a noble have one?

This is one of those situations where I think it's better to stick to the traditions in your game as you please, because as soon as they take them out, someone will come by with a good reason why their dwarf noble should have one.

I mean it's not a big deal because we can always just not chose to have them as a dwarf noble, but they would be out of place. Unless of course you where a paragon who had been raised from the castless. But that doesn't fit the Dwarf Noble origin story.

Some nobility is only nobility by birthright and not by their actions. Rebellion would be a good reason to add a tattoo.

Why shouldn't dwarf nobles have tattoo's? It could be a status symbol like "slayer of a thousand darkspawn" or some BS. I like my dwarf with is tat and he is noble.

<----

Plus the tat i got on right now(dwarf guy i mean) makes it look like he gots a helmet on, always ready for battle or somethin.

The tattooos for the casteless are different than the nobles' tattoo choices. Same with the Daelish elves vs. standard tattoos.

So, it's just certain tattoos that brand the poor, huddled masses.

Good thing this is a single player game. You won't ever encounter immersion-breaking nobles with tats. No reason to force that on everyone else.

Keep in mind that noble and commoner tattoos differ greatly.

The latter are held pretty simple and are nothing more than a mark, while the noble ones really look like they're meant for decoration or as status symbols.

However, i kept my avatars face clean to avoid any missconceptions. He's noble to the bone ; )

Commoners have a brand, not a tattoo, technically. Basically, BioWare didn't want to force, or keep people from customizing their character how they wanted, so they let everyone have a tattoo, or not.

Well.. in fact.. if a noble dwarf wanted a tattoo, it's his choice. Identifying him as a commoner would still be really really out of question and would probably start a war between houses. I see Dwarf caste system as similar to Menzoberranzan and if it's only half as hard as the drow city, you'd be in a really really hard position if you threw this kind of accusation on the member of an house.

Yes as I understand it a dwarf noble would make themselves an outcast by having such a tattoo, as it's certainly not a status symbol in the backstory for dwarfs at least not that we've seen in the origin story movies.

Anyway not a problem as it's been pointed out it's a single player game and as far as I've seen other nobles and anyone not of the lowest cast don't have facial marks in the origin movie so no it won't break my immersion.

I always vote in favor of more choices instead of less, but my dwarf noble doesn't have one.

I believe, in a long discussion about dwarves on the other boards, a dev or mod stated that if a casteless dwarf was picked up so to speak by a noble and gave birth to the heir, a male one, they would be brought into the noble society .. tatoos and all.

It is true that female dwarf's from the casteless sometimes go noble hunting and get into noble houses that way, however that explaination doesn't really fit the origin story in which you are a child born into the ruling house so you could never have been casteless.

The same applies to the paragon explaination, we know the basic origin for the dwarf noble has you as the son or daughter of the ruling house.

I like the noble tattoos, they look like stylized helmets which really differs greatly from what the casteless get. I'm tempted to slap one on my warrior in fact, but I wouldn't want her to be the only noble with a tattoo. In the noble origin glimpses I have not seen any tattooed noble dwarves. It would be odd if Bioware had put the tattoos in and not used them on any NPCs, but ... I guess we'll see.
