For the love of all that is holy, please please please create some kind of unlimited ammo patch or mod that can be toggled on if I so desire.  I spend more time in this game running around looking on the ground for ammo than I do listening to dialog... it's ridiculous.

Why you would take such a cool game mechanic of having the guns heat up as you use them that was in ME1 I cannot fathom.  That system was awesome.  Not only that, the continuity of the series is totally screwed up.  Am I supposed to believe that in the two years I was gone, every single gun that used to function without these stupid throwaway heatsinks has been demolished and replaced with the garbage they have now?

Unlimited ammo isn't a "game mechanic." Besides, you could trivialize that with mods in the first game.

Seriously, in two playthroughs, I have yet to run low on anything other than heavy ammo. I don't know what the complaint is, unless your aim is really that bad.

I pretty much head shot everything with the sniper rifle. I do actually miss from time to time, but even if I hit every single enemy in the head every time I shot, I would still be out of ammo quite a bit. Not to mention some enemies with shields or biotic barriers take two or three shots.

The "game mechanic" I was talking about was the heatsinks on the guns in ME1, it was really cool, and I can't figure out why they would have done away with it.

I'm sure some kind of hack or mod will come out with this capability, I just wish I could get it from BioWare instead of somewhere else.

The problem here is that you just aren't comfortable with using more than one gun. Sorry but I think it's better that there isn't unlimited ammo.

I've never had a problem finding ammo. Not once.

The problem with only using the sniper rifle is that you're most likely stationary throughout the fight. Which is bad. Use the sniper to soften them up a bit and then close the deal with skills or your team. Or better yet, your heavy pistol. That most likely forces you to move in and when you are moving in, you'll most likely stumble upon heat sinks. I've never, ever been out of ammo. Not once in 2 100% playthroughs.

The limited ammo makes you have to select a different weapon to use instead of spamming AR and SR bullets all the time like you could in ME1.

first i was sceptic myself about the system, but it is well thought, it is so easy to find a ammo spawn point, and the ammo spawns there over and over.or just from enemies.in casual mode it is fine, but i like what the difficulty setting dose to this, u can not shoot into the air anymore and dont care if u miss or not, every shot has ti hit, or u will run out of ammo fast. its nice. i dont like easy games.

Why thank you all for the suggestions on how to play the game. As there is certainly not enough ammo in the game to allow one to use the sniper rifle exclusively, I'm quite familiar with how to use the other weapons. What I'm saying is that I DON'T WANT TO.

If I had wanted to run up guns blazing on everything, I would have picked a soldier. Instead I chose to play an infiltrator who shoots from a long distance. Thus, it is not my lack of ability, or intelligence that leads to my request, but a personal preference.

I could even live with having limited ammo, it's the fact that after every firefight I spend more time running around looking for the stupid clips than I did fighting.

Getting unlimited ammo is easy and there are already well documented methods on how to do this all over the internet. Google and youtube are your friends.

Posting links or talking about the methods would be against the TOS of these boards.

uhm, that "unlimited ammo mod or patch" thing you are looking for already exists, generally referred to as cheat/trainer.

I very much doubt that Bioware will release something like that, seeing how the system in ME2 is an improvement over the system in ME1 (my personal opinion after playing me1 and missing several things from ME2)

Apparently all of my intelligence has been wasted on the use of the shift key and proper grammar.

Playing as an infiltrator myself, I also know the feeling of running out of ammo. However, that's part of the challenge of having limited ammo: knowing when to conserve ammo and when to switch weapons. Using a Widow / Tempest combo not only mixes up the game, but also allows you to conserve ammo for both.

Also, not really sure about "spending more time finding ammo than dialogue". Unless you skip dialogue with the space bar, finding heatsinks on the ground shouldn't take more time than on any other FPS game.

I disagree with your request but I really enjoyed your response to that comment.  I also appreciate that you spelled 'grammar' correctly.  Thank you.

I'm kinda with you on this one King_Rob from a continuity stand point it makes no sense. It also doesn't make sense that you can't use these "uniform" cartridges with any gun you want. Ok, there's a limited amount of ammo in this game but if it's all the same why can't we use it with the gun we choose.

They may have done it this way so that we are forced to use different guns but to me it makes little sense.

So,because your a clueless, stuburn, idiot, and don't know how to play the game, it's the game's fualt?

Do you want Bioware to play the game for you too?

First, there is NO chance a patch to change the current ammo system is going to happen, so that requiest isn't even worthy of further conversation. If you feel a "hack" to rain ammo packs from the sky will show up, go play something else until it does.

Second, the REAL issue(s) here can only be corrected by you changing the way you are trying to approach the combat in ME2. If you don't feel that is fair to you or you can't (or refuse) to do that, I suggest you find another game to play.
  • The game rewards you (with ammo) for ADVANCING forward or to other cover points during combat and punishes you for attemting to stay in one spot too long. Yes, this does NOT lend itself to playing a pure sniper, but if you advance regularly and to intelligent cover locations, I have found that you can snipe effectively and constantly (tho you really SHOULDN'T use just a sniper rifle...see below).
  • The game is set up to promote (and reward) the use of multiple weapons. Sniper Rifles are lousy against shields and you will waste a ton of ammo against shielded foes. Pull out your SMG, take down their shields, Hit thier amor with Incenerate and THEN blow their heads off with a sniper headshot. Not only will this conserve ammo, it will let you take down foes much faster
If you can't see yourself being able to change the above 2 tactics of your game, I'd suggest you move on to another game. This one is going to do nothing but frustrate you.

This is ridiculous.

You can beat the game on Insanity without ever coming close to running out of ammo. I did it twice.

An unlimited ammo "patch" would be about the stupidest thing ever.

You guys do realize an unlimited ammo mod already exists, and that you can do it yourself rather easily anyway, rite?
