does anyone know whether there is something like birds available in the toolset?

I don't remember seeing one in game (except for the crows that fly around the tower of ishal) and i can't find one in the toolset models. 

i need something like a falcon model for my mod - anyone got any tips?

All the flying birds are just animated textures. Presumably it's a VFX. These are the textures: vfx_bird_raven01.dds, vfx_bird_raven03.dds, vfx_bird_raven04.dds There's also vfx_bird_ra_up.dds and vfx_bird_raven03.dds, but they look to be blank (RGB black and no alpha channel).



There is a raven/crow model that you can see hopping around on the ground in a few levels, c_ravena_0:

maybe retexturing could do something - looks like i'll have to make a new model (somehow) since i need them to be flying. but this helps a really great deal, thanks again!!

There are also owl and chicken appearances, but I haven't done much with them yet.
