If the drunks dead cause you killed him in your origin game do you just not get a returning character ? Im still not sure it's him returning anyway as in he's my least fav character Id rather have that dog than Oghren but I know some of you like him so good for you but if he's dead do you not get a returning character ?

Help wanted 1 dwarf must be able to carry large quantities of lyrium no experience needed

You've asked this in a number of threads already and people have answered that it likely means if you kill Oghren he will be dead and you will have 5 party members instead (such as if you choice Anora to be Queen alone and kill Alistair he won't appear). I assume this would be a logical result of Oghren being dead if you use a PC in whose's playthrough he died (and please stop spamming this question everywhere, people have been trying to answer you already)

Why would anybody kill Oghren? That's like the equivalent of facing Flemeth alone on Nightmare. Oghren's a good tank in battle if you manage him right and put his skills where they need to be. Not to mention, to people with an actual sense of humour, he's funny and how he makes the other characters feel awkward is just classic. Oh well, I guess we rather have some Legolas rip off in our party that's completely worthless in just about every aspect than a beast like Oghren.

I'm pretty sure that if you killed Ohgren, then he's dead. That's sort of the thing about this game... actions have consequences. Though if you killed him you must have gone out of your way to do so... so why do you care exactly? If you did okay without him in Origins, I'm sure that you will be fine without him in Awakening. Just use the other 5 companions.

Wait, seriously? You asked this question on several threads and got your answer. I'm not sure if Oghren can honestly be killed without cheating and if he can it's a really tough thing to accomplish. The answers to your question is simple.

Oghren has not been officially stated to be the returning character so no one has any idea what would happen if he is dead in your save because we don't even know if he's the returning companion.

Yes I agree but I was thinking more along the line that it would be better to have a option for who should be the returning character in such a case like Oghren begin dead you would still have another choice. As far as the repost go it had long been rumored Oghren has to be the returning character cause he can't die im just putting it out there that he can since thats seem to be the main reasoning behind the assumptions.

This would be a horrible feature for many, many reasons.

He'll probably just be there anyway since you have to use console commands to kill him, and if you do, he still has a ending paragraph in the epilogue that considers him as alive.

The claim isn't that Oghren can't die, its that he's probably the least likely to (with the exception of Morrigan, but she is almost certainly out of the picture for other, plot-related reasons). Seriously, you have to try and go out of your way to kill Oghren. Unlike the other companions who you can ****** off completely accidentally just by making certain choices.

Even if your other companions don't die, most of them leave Ferelden at the end, or are otherwise indisposed. Oghren is not only the least likely to die, but he's also got the most stable ending - no matter what, he's still just kind of chilling out in Ferelden at the end.

He's also the most popular of the non-romanceable companions. Bringing one romanceable companion back and not the others would open up a whole new can of worms among the Alistair, Morrigan, Leliana, Zevran fanboys and fangirls. And so bringing back the favorite non-romance companion makes sense.

While it would be cool to be able to choose which companion to bring, its just not feasible from a development standpoint. You would have to write new lines, bring back voice actors, and design new content for all of the original companions, and yet only have one that the player actually uses. It is simply not worth it. And so the devs probably chose to go with the companion that makes the most sense given the story. And all signs point to Oghren.

In that case then the dog would be the easiest character to bring back.

Can't recall how you would kill Ohgren. Or why. I'm glad he's coming back, he was my main tank.

Ya but he's a dog. With five characters I kinda want them to be deep.

For all the people wondering: It's possible to use console commands to set Oghren's approval to -100, then select an option that says {Kill him] which will result in Oghren suddenly disappearing without a death animation of any kind. At the end of the game Oghren still gets a  paragraph explaining what he did after the Archdemon was defeated just as if he was alive.

My guess would be that at one point the developers were going to allow Oghren to be a killable character, so had the option in there, but ended up not pursuing it because of talks of how they should develope Awakening. Soo... they merely set the negative approval needed to perform this act to an impossible amount, likely so they could easily set it back to a reasonable number if they changed their mind. This fits with the option not having an animation or leading to any changes in Oghren's story.

You can kill dog. Or miss the quest altogether. Or refuse to take him with you.

Also, he's a DOG.

Hm, didn't know you COULD kill him. I like Oghren, he's hilariously vulgar, which I like. But I don't use him in battle, he is always the first to fall and he just sucks in my game, he's too slow no matter how much I add to his dexterity. I almost didn't make it in Orzammar when you HAVE to take him with you, used up like 30 health poultices trying to keep him alive and then I just started letting him fall.

They are losing a lot of loyal fans over this ****ty excuse for an expansion, Oghen as the returning party member AND no romances. I already canceled my order...

Thanks!  More copies for the rest of us!

Seriously, shut up.  You sound like an absolute moron when you **** about relatively trivial things.  If you don't like Oghren, then DON'T USE HIM.  Romances ARE NOT GAME BREAKING IN ANY WAY.  Whining about minor mechanics/RP and a single freaking party member is quite shallow.  If you let those keep you from experiencing an otherwise remarkable story, then you have awfully skewed priorities.

How do you kill him? I made an entire character for the purpose of trying to kill him and got him to -100 approval and he never attacks me or anything. When I tell him to leave he just says he hopes the archdemon chokes on me and leaves.

You have to go to Orzammar first. Pick him up first (waste of time) but then through out the game you have to do things he disagrees with and when he ever talks to you be rude to him and then next thing you know hes at -100.
