Nay, my friend, it's not omnipotent, it isn't a cheat, it isn't game-breaking, but it is a very powerful build. More for pure destruction than for survivability.

Ok, ok, I give. I'll post a simplified example, it should be enough to get you started. After that, it's up to you guys to try it out, and add your helpful tips and variations.
Disclaimer: This is for people who are having problems finding a powerful mage build. Use it at your own discretion, for the sheer power of such a build could corrupt even the purest souls amongst ye.
This build is called a "Shatter Build".
You will need 3 mages, including your PC. Spec your two offensive mages into Cone of Cold, and Stonefist. Enemies frozen by cone of cold are "Shattered" for an insta-kill upon every Critical Hit, and every Stonefist knocks them down, which also causes a Shatter.
See where I'm going with this?
Even enemies with full HP can be Shattered if they are frozen. CoC is an AOE that can feasibly stop an entire group in their tracks, especially if you use the terrain to your advantage (doors, narrow pathways). Your fourth character choice is up to you, but whatever he/she may be, you will want bonuses to critical strike ability.
Now, go forth and experiment!
If you want even more details, I will continue answering PMs to that effect, but I think if you have the basic premise down, you will be fine. You may even find a more effective variation on this than we did.
