Uh... why another female elven spellcaster? Did we NOT get enough of those in Baldur's Gate 2 to last... forever?

What, do people think a woman has to be elven or human to appeal to males? Dwarves are the right height, dude. Dwarves are the right height. And on average, they have the largest boobs. And they're so ADORABLE.

Plus, the dwarven culture is only the coolest culture in all of DA. GIVE US A SEXY DWARF. (The female kind, 'cause it's hard to find the males under all those beard-braids, and more people go for short chicks than short dudes. Not that there's anything wrong with short dudes, just, normally they don't date taller women. Although, I think couples like that are cute. But still. Gotta think about the mainstream.)

I mean, think of Mila Kunis and Robin Tunney and America Ferrera and Christina Ricci. I think a lot of guys (and girls) would hit one or all of those. And they're all under 5'5. Ricci and Ferrera are both 5'1".

C'mon. Dwarf lovin'. Who cares if she's tall? With hips and racks like they've got, they make up for the lack of legs easy.

Why?  Becase male elf Wardens got the short end of the stick culturally.  Lore wise the game tells us that elves that get have human romatic partners are considered traitors since any childeren will be human.  To keep the elves alive as a race they have to be with other elves.  From that perspective just having 2 human women as the only options was really limiting.

That said, it's been announced that Awakenings will have no romances so really ranting about a female elf being in the game is rather pointless in that respect, though I'll have to say a female dwarf, sexy or not, would have been MUCH perfered to Oghran.  Ugh.
