Yeah same here, but apparently you have to make a NEW admin accaunt.. and re-download everything.. but there must be an easier fix to this?

this sounds completely ridiculous to me mate. Create something you don't need on your pc to be able to play something you paid for. They have to find a better solution to that.

Thats what I said too, then the support person I was talking too logged off.. I wasn't rude or anything I just stated the fact that it's very poor for a singleplayer RPG to have theese sort of problems. I mean for a newly launched MMO, sure there will be connection problems tec. But for a singleplayer RPG? Never heard of such crap launch before.

I agree with you on this. Let's see if someone from Bioware will take the time to comment on this. At the moment I trashed my money, which I am not very pleased about to be honest.

For me it's not so much about the money as it is having looking forward to this game, longing to play it for 2 years or so and then when I finally have it, pressing play and getting an error message.

It sort of is the same as if you on christmas eve open a package that says PS3 on it but when you open it you get a kick in the balls instead of the actuall PS3. It's just not nice =/

Allright just wasted about 2 and a half hour trying out the supports suggestion about making a second admin user on my computer and re-download the game and re-install it as this new user without success (great suprise eh?)

(for those who purchased the game through the EA store)

Guys, this happened to me as well earlier in the afternoon, so I followed the suggestions given in a topic on the "old" DA forums. After a bit of messing around it worked.

- Log out and quit the EA Download Manager application. Delete the "cache" folder inside ProgramData/Electronic Arts/EADM (at least, this is the patch on Windows Vista) ;

- Now open the EA download manager again and log in. You will still have your copy of DA installed because, well...you already installed it and it's already stored in another directory of the comp, so don't worry.

- Now run the game *directly from the EA Download manager by clicking on "play", then play again on the DA launcher.

You know, for some reason I'm not sure it worked immediately for me, but after some tries the game finally started.

Give it a try

Hm I have never used EA's downloader so when you talk about re-register I have no idea how to do something similar on D2D... Man I wanna find a fix for this too, I won't be able to sleep until I do =/

well, k-custard, when I first got that wretched message, I thought it was a problem of code authentication: infact, I registered the game through this website, instead of activating it through the EA Store.

So I tried to insert my code again in the EA Download manager, activation section, but it said that the code was already used.

Therefore, I started looking for a solution, and it said I could try erasing that cache folder. First time I don't think it worked (I was quite upset, that's why I don't really remember...But probably, that's because, after I deleted the cache, I tried to start the game directly from the DA Launcher instead of the EA one), but then it did.

If you dont have EA's downloader you can get it from here http://ea-link.en.softonic.com/ then just register your game using the key you got from D2D.

Now you've registered it through there you should be able to launch it from where ever it was you were launching it from without the error. I can launch right from my games folder now dont have to go through anything.

Uninstalled the game again and now downloading from EADM at a whoppin 4mb/s =D (only had 2mb/s from D2D)

So in about 40 minutes I know if it's the D2D download that's fecked or if it's just me =P

Sorry folks :(

Like I wrote yesterday, the problem should be fixable for the copies downloaded directly through the EA store (and download manager), but for D2D looks like it's more troublesome...You could try the same thing Bramm did and pass through the EADM even though your copy was purchased on D2D, and mess around a bit with the "cache" folder (explained above) and see if it eventually launches.

But yes, it's frustrating :(

The thing is I even downloaded the game with the EADM now, so it should be the exact same thing you managed to get running. But for me when I press play in the EADM it just pops to the desktop and nothing happends. Iv'e tried deleting the cache folder but it seems to make no difference. I am currently making a second install using the "express install" optin (not that I want it on my C: drive but.. who knows..)
