EDIT:  Bah since I cannot change the topic, it has been said more romance to come so this isn't full but will get you up to tent scene at least!

My apologies if this was said before, Search still not working for me.

But I was able to finally figure out Alistair's full romance from beginning to end, even when he asks you to his tent!

Before I do anything to post, is there any interested parties who would like to know how?  And perhaps any good FRAPS like program where I can capure some of the best parts leading up to it?

If so would be glad to post it.

Well, the best fraps-like program is, in my opinion, fraps.

That is NOT the complete romance. Jus' saying.

Well, I am going to list the steps I did with my Human Mage, female of course.

First, make sure he is the one you want to woo.  Trust me on this because all the gifts you will find will go to him.  He has many little conversations you can have with him that may go up only +1 or so.

Second, knowing how to talk to him is important.  Joking with him is fine but do not do so on something that is really important to him such as intimate moments or about Duncan.

So ... here we go.  Please read no further if you still want to figure it out yourself!  SPOILER BELOW!
`
`
`
`
`
`
1.  When we met in Ostagar, I started talking to him to begin getting approval, saving after each one conversation I did with him, reloading if it didn't work.  Remember some conversations do not give approval.

2.  When reaching Lothering, I found a gift to give him which I did, and anything Dog dug up I gave to him .. even stuff I bought.  Even moving it +1 each time helped.

3.  Do Redcliffe first once you get to the world map.  This can help with a few things on getting approval with Alistair faster.

4.  By this point you should be able to ask to kiss him.  If so you're doing good.

5.  When he gets to the point about wanting to meet his siter in Denerim DO IT!  This seems ot be very important for some reason to move the romance along (at least from how I did it)

6.  DON'T ask him to your tent when you get the choice.  Trust me ....

7.  When he cares for you enough, he will give you a rose.  Take it .. it's worth it.

8.  There will be a point when you are 100 with him and AFTER the rose giving and AFTER meeting his sister that he will initiate wanting to sleep with him that night.

It is all worth it, trust me ladies and gents.  I really suggest saving before each time you need to go to Camp and before any conversations with Alistair.  The different choices you have to say and his responses are hilarious and adorable.

Now to see if I can FRAPS certain points up, unless someone beats me to it!.

Well ... should then say up TO the tent scene.  Since I'm not a noble I know one part that won't be happening.

I just go tto that part so still talking to him when I can.

A bit disappointed though that in the one cutscene when he asks, the two models are on top of each other .. at least for me, when they kiss before the tent scene.

hmm, I slept with him after her gave me the rose and after i took him to his sister and I had to initiate it, I'll look out for it on my next play through and if i dont get it right up until denerim when you go to the landsmeet i'll initiate anyway lol, I really dont think it matters, I had Alistar at 100 before I even got Zevran.

I actually asked him to come to my tent, and if you say the right dialogue choices you can end the conversation with +2 at least. Don't ask him a second time before he is ready though, that will lose approval.

I also initiated once I thought he was high enough(after the rose). I'm too impatient to wait for him to come to me LOL

Alistair is simple to romance.

1. Speak fondly of Duncan.
2. Don't waste all your gifts on him. There are some gifts that get a LOT of approval- the carved statuette next to the darkspawn in Lothering, the white rune in the Mage tower, the mother's amulet, the duncan shield, etc. When you give him his mother's amulet in Redcliffe etc- you get the chance to up your approval even more if you act like you care.
3. Tell him he is handsome.
4. Tell him your home is with the Grey Wardens, with him.
5. Don't mock him when he says he is inexperienced.
6. Help Redcliffe.
7. When he showss suspicion of Morrigan- say "you don't need to like someone, as long as they are useful" (during the gossip session he brings up)
8. When he reveals the story of his parentage, be sympathetic.
9. Accept the rose. Show enthusiasm about going to Goldanna. Be nice to him after the visit if you want to keep him sweet. Take a more cynical approach at this point if you want Alistair to be a tad more ruthless.

If Leliana is in the group, he will have a very amusing banter where he asks her for advice on how to woo someone special.

Kissing him apparently boosts his approval. Wonder why. Kiss him every chance you get for instant +3 approval. Each time.

And endure your husband's laughter when Alistair finally comes up to you and suggests nookie time.

See Imported al thats just common sense lol, Like I said I had him at nearly a hundred before I even got Zevran and that was just by taking to him and giving him gifts. Plus I spared both Connor AND isolde in redcliffe.

I was responding to Blessed Silence's strategy of giving him every gift she could find. I was suggesting a more balanced approach.

For me gifts were most useful when my character was not compatible with folks like say Sten, and the only way I could prevent crisis moments with characters like him was to give him gifts he liked. I'd rather give a few gifts that bump approval significantly rather than give any thing I can find because that seems a waste of resources.

With Alistair, all it seemed to take was being a somewhat decent person who was interested in him. And a few choice gifts, a couple of plot decisions that I would have made anyway. For me, it was not a race or a competition to get him at X level before T time. But more seeing how you could keep your entire party somewhat happy without having to alter your character's morality and ethics.

In that case, a strategy for one companion needs to be balanced with your other companions. Indiscriminate gift giving seems to defeat the very purpose.

EDIT: Zevran appears after you gain your first ally- whatever the quest is. If you do Redcliffe first,it is easy to get Alistair to high approval before Zevran (three key plot decisions- and two key gifts). But game play wise, it made more strategic sense for me to get Wynne first- so I did the mage tower before. And it was hilarious watching Alistair and Zevran banter. Especially when Zev hit on Alistair- fun times.

Which is true, Improted .. but I guess for me no other companion mattered.

*shrug*

But I like to mess with things. I was hoping to give a bit of at least one way to do it. I was surmising some rabid ladies or men out there who wanted to see it.

As per the Alistair romance....I have made it to the tent scene twice....The first time..I initiated it...it was okay.....Let me also tell you girls (he's not romanceable for guys) he's really old fashioned....he will get into the tent with you at your request...when he adores you...however....I didn't like the outcome....so I replayed it and waited till he fell in love with my pc....when he finally tells you how he fills....the dialogue banter is so much more.....much better.Posted Image

I tested the waters with Zevran...which made Alistair perk up....I don't know  about Zevran....I can only think STDs...the guy would probably nail War Dog if he could....He is extemey funny to listen to the and he had some humorous banter with Wynne.Posted Image

Alistair likes "statuettes" as gifts. Anyone else think it's funny that he collects action figures?

Yes, very. Posted Image Getting him to the Emporium shop in Denerim was quite funny too.

Please tell me I haven't blown my romance with Alistair!

I'm a female elf mage.  I've been supportive, I've received the rose and had the lamp-post dialogue, I've asked him to come to my tent and told him he was cute when he rejected me (hard that, I was actually quite hurt)...  He does kiss me.

Shd I flirt with Zev?

Can I go to the pearl and leave the romance unaffected?

Grateful for any advice/counselling...

Alistair is just old fashioned.....You probably don't have enough approval points....when you are at the adore level...you can ask him into your tent....Not as good as waiting for him to ask you...He will do this when his points are at the love level....it will happen on the side quest of going to talk to his sister.....there are some critical dialogue choices to make on that side quest according to the official game guide (I just recently found out myself....I am playing an elf warrior)...if you want to have a future with Alistair at end of game your only choice would be to harden him during one of two side quest 'The Urn of Sacred Ashes' and/or 'Going to talk to Godanna' (go look thru the spoilers to find exact details).....if you don't harden him you won't have a chance because you are not a noble human female.....Sigh...and oh yeah....you need to beef up your persuation points alot.

As per your original question.....continue on but don't keep asking him to your tent until he is at the adore level because your approval points will go down.Posted Image

Flirt away with Zevran. So long as Zev's approval meter doesn't go too high, it's just harmless flirting.

Stupid Alistair and his stupid cuteness. Also, you can choose not to harden him and still have a happy ending with him. Just don't make him do things he doesn't want to do...like...say...become king of a certain country at a certain point. You'll have to swallow your pride at numerous moments if you want a happy ending with him, though--I swear, the boy's almost not worth all the trouble he causes. Almost :)

Have heard that the only way an elf can have a chance it to harden him.  Does pc elf have a chance of a future  without hardening him?  Was actually quite a sad momement when he says he gonna think for himself.  Anyway if alistair becomes hardened he will comply with a 3some at the Pearl....You have to go to camp first where he iniates the tent scene.  So...thru a little persuation.....he agrees for the 3some (doesn't show anything)...After the cut scene the Pirate ship captain ask if she could borrow Alistair....In which my pc replies...this will never happen again....In which Alistair replies...."Really!?!....Rats!"  It's probably one of his funniest lines yet.  It's worth doing just to watch it....however, I am not going to keep that part.

And I would really not like the harden him....if I had a chance to at least be his mistress.Posted Image

1. Kick his ass to the curb
2. Get Zevran or Leliana, niether of which are back-stabbing whiners.

If you don't want him to be king and let Anora be Queen, just want to keep living as adventurers afterwards (by accepting Morrigan's offer), is it ok not to harden him? After we met Goldana I was kind to him, telling him that other people cared for him, which is true...

Thanks, this I'll do... though I wonder: if I let Alistair kill Loghain, will Anora still accept being Queen? He's he father after all...
